Road safety fence The present invention relates to a road safety fence comprising a slide fixed to profile posts.
Until now, safety fences for highways, for example, have consisted of corrugated metal guardrails parallel to the road which are fixed, in particular to the lap joint between two lengths of guardrails, on vertical posts by means of bolts. . Not only does this method of fixing require drilling the sheets of the slides at their junction, but it also makes it necessary to place the fixing posts at distances determined as a function of the length of the slides.
The present invention aims to remedy these disadvantages and the fence which is the subject of it is distinguished by the fact that the face of each post on which the slide is fixed has a housing receiving an edge of the slide and a member. support against which the other edge of the slide is clamped, removable hooking means engaging the latter edge to keep it tight against said support member.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of the fence forming the subject of the present invention.
Fig. 1 is a side elevational view thereof.
Fig. 2 is a section taken along line 2-2 of FIG. 1. FIG. 3 is a variant of a detail of FIG. 1. FIG. 4 is a view similar to FIG. 1 of the second embodiment.
Fig. 5 is a section taken along line 5-5 of FIG. 4. FIG. 6 is a variant of a detail of FIG. 4. The fence shown comprises a guardrail A, for example for a motorway, fixed to a vertical post 2 formed by a double T-shaped metal section (FIG. 2). The slide A is formed in a known manner by lengths of sheets 1 'and 1 "on dulées, assembled by overlapping by means of bolts 3 with rounded outer head as shown in section in Figs. 1 and 4.
The front face 4 of the post 2, that is to say the face to which the slide A is to be fixed, has a housing 5 intended to receive the upper edge 6 of this slide. This housing 5 is formed by a metal part 7 welded to the top of the post 2 tilting backwards and the front edge of which is curved downwards. A support bar 8 is welded to the face 4 of the post 2 below the housing 5 at a distance slightly smaller than the width of the slide A. An opening 9 made in the face 4 of the profile 2, between the 'core 2' thereof and the vertical edge 4 'of this face, serves to receive a hook 10 fixed to a plate 11 welded to the profile as shown in FIG. 2.
An oblong hole 12 is made in the plate 11 to receive the threaded end 10 'of the hook, this hole 12 being open at 13 on the outer edge of the plate 11 to allow the introduction of said threaded end 10' of the hook. hook 10.
To fix the slide A on the post 2, the curved upper edge 6 is first brought into the housing 5 then its lower edge is caught in the hook 10 which, when screwed onto the plate 11 by means of the 'nut 10 ", clamps said lower edge of the slide against the support bar 8. The position of the hook 10 is such that it exerts on the edge of the slide a force having two components directed one vertically towards the top and the other directed towards the inside of the profile 2.
The distance between the housing 5 and the support bar 8 being slightly smaller than the width of the slide A, the upper edge 6 of the latter is elastically forced into the housing 5 thanks to the inherent elasticity of the slide when the hook 10 acts on its lower edge as indicated above.
In the variant shown in FIG. 3, the post 14 is assumed to be extended upwards above the slide A to constitute, for example, a handrail support (not shown). The housing receiving the upper edge 6 of the slide A is constituted in this case by a strip 15 of metal, welded along one of its edges on the face 16 of the post 14, the other edge being curved towards the low.
It is understood that the arrangement of FIG. 1 could be reversed, that is to say that the hook 10 could be arranged at the top of the post 2, the housing 5 then being provided turned over from 1800 to the location of the support bar 8. In this In this case, plate 7 would of course be deleted.
In the second embodiment of FIGS. 4 and 5, the hook 10 is replaced by a hook plate 17 covering the top of the post 18 while being inclined backwards like the plate 7 in the first embodiment. The front edge of the plate 17 is curved downwards at 19 over a support bar 20 welded to the face 21 of the profile 18. The upper edge 6 of the slide A is brought between the curved edge 19 and the bar support 20. The plate 17 carries a threaded rod 22 intended to fit into a corresponding hole made in a fixing flange 23 welded to the profile 18 between the core 18 'and the front wing.
The lower edge of the slide A is retained in the housing formed by a metal part 24 re curved upwards and welded parallel to the underside of the support bar 20. As in the previous embodiment, the distance between the bar 20 and the part 24 is determined in such a way that, thanks to the inherent elasticity of the slide A, its lower edge is resiliently retained in the housing between the part 24 and the face 21 of the post when its upper edge 6 is clamped against -the bar 20 by means of the part 17 pulled down by the rod 22 when screwing the nut 22 '.
Fig. 6 shows a variant of the hooking plate 17 in the case of a post 25 extending upwards as for the variant of FIG. 3. The upper edge 6 of the slide A is attached here by a part 26 of generally straight line shape, curved at both ends and extending from the rear wing to the front wing of the double T profile 25 .
The rear end of part 26 is retained by a protrusion 27 welded to the rear flange of the post and the front end of this part passes through an opening 25 'in the front flange of the post to clamp the edge. upper 6 of the slide. The part 26 is provided with a threaded rod 28 with a tightening nut 28 ', this rod passing through an oblong hole 29' formed in a flange 29 welded to the profile 25. The projection 27 retaining the end of the part 26 could be fixed towards the rear of the post in any way other than by welding and not necessarily on the flange of a section.
The fence described has the advantage of not requiring any additional drilling of the slides for their fixing by bolts to the support posts as was the case until now. It thus eliminates the precondition of equidistance of the posts and makes it possible to fix the slides in a particularly simple way and independently of the position of these posts.
It also makes it possible to adapt the spacing of the posts to the particular conditions of the road and traffic.
Instead of metal posts, it is understood that one could use non-metallic posts, in which case the parts integral with the posts would not be welded but fixed in any other way on these posts.
On the other hand, the plates 7 and 17, instead of being tilted towards the rear as shown in the drawing, could be fixed horizontally on the top of the corresponding post.
