Device for making the inclination of the backrest of a tubular seat adjustable. The present invention relates to a device for adjusting the inclination of the backrest of a tubular seat.
This device is characterized in that it comprises two pairs of coupling members to. notches, mounted so as to be able to pivot about a common geometric axis, means for clamping and making said coupling members cooperate and for disengaging them from one another, each desclit.s orga nes of coupling. being integral with a part intended to cooperate with one of the tubular parts of the seat.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the device forming the subject of the present invention.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of this <lispasitif.
Fig. ? is a broken view, in frontal elevation and. on a larger scale.
The fi-. 3 is a profile view of. the. The device shown is intended for. be adapted to, for example a tubular automobile seat, to make the inclination of the backrest adjustable. This device comprises two pairs of coupling members 1,? and 3, 4- the notches, mounted so as to be able to pivot about a common geometric axis.
For this purpose, a rod 5 carries at each end a pair of said coupling members. 1, ", respectively 3, 4, and passes through a spacer tube 6 serving to maintain the spacing between the two pairs of coupling members.
LTne handle 7 is screwed onto one of the threaded ends of the rod 5 to tighten and make the coupling members 1 to 4 cooperate and to release them, as will be described below, a nut 8 being screwed to the other end of the rod 5 to retain the member 4. Each of the coupling members 1, 2, 3 and 4 is integral with a cylindrical part 9, 10, 1.1 and. 12, respectively, provided to cooperate with one of the tubular parts of the seat.
In fig. 1, the cylindrical parts 9 and 12 have been shown nested in the tubular parts 13 and. 14 respectively, of the seat placet, these tubular parts having elasticity such that when the handle 7 is loosened, the coupling members. 1 to 4 are clear. The cylindrical pieces 10 and. 1.1 are fitted into the tubular parts 15 and 16, respectively, of the backrest. For this purpose, the diameter of the cylindrical parts 9, 10, 11 and. 12 is equal to the internal diameter of the tubes in which they are fitted.
The operation of the device described is as follows: When it is desired to tilt the back of the seat from the position shown in solid lines in FIG 1 to the position in phantom lines, the operating handle 7 is unscrewed until the Notches of the components, of couplings 1 to 4 are no longer in engagement with each other, which is made possible by the elasticity of the tubes 13 and 14.
The backrest which is integral with the members 2 and 3 can alois be brought into the desired angular position relative to the seat plinth.
The advantage of the device described lies in the fact that it can be easily adapted to a tubular seat of common type. In addition, the fact that the control of the two pairs of coupling members. notch is done simultaneously. by means of a single handle, also constitutes an important advantage of the positive device.
