<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Device for heating the water contained in a container The present invention relates to a device for heating the water contained in a container, in particular in a bathtub or in a tub; it is more particularly intended for use in all houses which do not have a bathroom.
This device comprises a circulation pump and means for heating the water and is characterized by the fact that the pump and said means are enveloped in a housing and form a portable unit and by the fact that it comprises at least two flexible tubes capable of being immersed at least in part in the water of the container, one of these tubes being intended for the suction of water to be heated and the other for its discharge into the container, once heated. The accompanying drawing shows by way of example an embodiment of the object of the present invention, FIG. 1 is a front elevation thereof and FIG. 2 a section on II-II of FIG. 1.
The device shown comprises a portable housing 1 having on its upper face a gripping handle 2 and two ears 3 and 4 for its suspension from a wall for example; on its lower face, the housing 1 has two elastic pads 5, forming feet, intended to damp the vibrations produced by the members of the device which will be described below.
On its right side face in the drawing, the box also carries a box 6 to which is attached a cord 7 making it possible to connect the device to a power supply network.
On its front face, the box carries a button 8 for controlling a current switch not shown, a second button 9 for controlling a thermostat 10, a dial thermometer 11, as well as an operating handle 12 intended for actuating a three-way valve 13. The thermometer 11 indicates the temperature of the water sucked in by a pipe 14 by means of a motor pump 15 placed in the housing 1 and delivered through the valve 13, ie in the direction of a heating body 16 or towards a duct 17a at the end of which is fixed a flexible tubing 17 of identical shape and construction to the tubing 14.
To the heating body 16, which can operate electrically or with lighting gas, is attached a third pipe 18, similar to the pipes described above 14 and 17.
As shown, the pipes 14 and 18 are fixed to tubular parts of the pump 15 and the heating body 16 which protrude through the front wall of the housing 1. The flanges for fixing the pipes 12 and 15 are oblique. so as to form a V, the bottom of which is substantially disposed in the center of the housing 1 but may of course have any other inclination.
The previously indicated thermostat is intended to automatically trigger the motor of the pump 15 as well as the power supply to the heating body 16 as soon as the temperature of the water drawn in by the pump reaches a predetermined value, adjustable by pressing button 8.
The device described finds its main use in houses without a bathroom: it suffices to fill a container, bathtub or tub with water, to immerse the pipes 14 and 18 in the water, at a certain distance l 'from each other, and put

in action the pump 15 and the heating body 16, the valve 13 being placed in a position allowing the flow of water from the pump to the heating body. The thermostat 10 will first be adjusted to a determined heating value.
The water is then sucked in continuously through the pipe 14 thanks to the pump 15 and is heated by circulation in the body 16 and then discharged into the container through the pipe 18.
It is also possible to heat the water as it is introduced into the receptacle by making it circulate through the device according to the invention, in particular by connecting the pipe 14 to a supply tap. cold water or by immersing this tubing in the water reserve from which you want to fill the container.
This device also allows the user to shower: it suffices for this to adapt to the end of the tubing 18 a weir with characteristics similar to a watering head and to suck water from the container itself. even in which one bathes through the tubing 14 or yet another container containing clean water for example.
Finally, this device also makes it possible to very easily evacuate, after use, the water from a bathtub or a tub: it suffices for this to close the valve 13 towards the heating body 16, to open it towards the pipe 17a and the pipe 17 and to actuate the pump 15 by immersing the pipe 14 in this bathtub or this tub. In this way, this prevents fouling of the heating body 16 with contaminated water.
The device shown is of small size, relatively low in weight and is therefore easily transportable: in addition, it does not require any particular hydraulic installation and is therefore very economical to purchase as well as to maintain.
