Vinylchlorid, Vinylidenchlorid, Vinylacetat, Acrylverbindungen mischpolymerisieren lassen.

Process for the preparation of copolymerizable epoxy ethers
The present invention is a process for the preparation of Epoxyäthem, which is with polymerizable ethylene derivatives such. B.
Allow vinyl chloride, vinylidene chloride, vinyl acetate, acrylic compounds to copolymerize.
The compounds according to the invention can be described by the formula R-O-R ', in which R is a saturated, epoxidized mono- or polycarbocyclic ring system with at least 6 carbon atoms and R' is a branched or unbranched alkenyl radical with at most 5 carbon atoms, e.g. B. vinyl, allyl, methallyl or crotyl radical.
The compounds according to the invention are produced by selective epoxidation of correspondingly unsaturated ethers which, for. B. be prepared by the following known methods. This creates the starting materials for the compounds according to the invention, for. B. by etherification of unsaturated carbocyclic alcohols such. B. cyclohexenols, dehydronorborneol, 1, 4-5, 8-dimetheno-? 6,7-octahydro-¯-naphthol or 5, 6-cyclopentenonorborneol-2 or 1, 4-metheno-5, 6-cyclopentenoWcyclohssxanol-2 with unsaturated lower fatty alcohols such as B.
Allyl alcohol, 1-butene-3-ol, crotyl alcohol or by reacting the alkali metal alcoholates of said cyclic ols final alcohols with corresponding unsaturated halides such. B. vinyl chloride, allyl chloride, crotyl chloride, 3-chlorobutene-1, pentene chloride, 1, 4-dichlorobutene-2, 1, 2-dichlorobutene-3, 1,1,1-trichloropropene-2 or by reacting these chlorides with the cyclic olefin alcohols in the presence of strong bases.
Another possibility for preparing starting materials for the compounds according to the invention is offered by the Diels-Alder condensation of butadiene or cyclopentadiene with divinyl ether, the vinyl ethers of cyclohexenol or dehydronorborneol being formed. It can also unsaturated alcohols such. B. allyl alcohol, crotyl alcohol or 3-hydroxybutene-l to a double bond of a car bocyclic diene such. B. dicyclopentadiene, cyclohexadiene, bicyclo- [2, 2, 1] -heptadiene or 1, 4-5, 8 dimetheno-? 2, 3-6, 7-hexahydronaphthalene in the presence of Lewis acids are added directly.
Furthermore, the vinylation of the cyclic alcohols with acetylene in the presence of bases can also be used to prepare starting materials for the compounds according to the invention. Furthermore, vinyl ethers of cyclic olefin alcohols can be obtained by the process of DAS 1,071,694.
The olefin ethers obtained in this way are epoxidized by known processes in such a way that the olefinic copolymerizable double bond in the short-chain aliphatic part of the ethers according to the invention is retained. This. happens z. B. by using an appropriate amount of epoxidizing agent and by maintaining a certain temperature.
The epoxidation is most easily carried out with peracids, in particular with peracetic acid in the presence of inert solvents. Instead of preformed peracid, H 2 O 2 in the presence of a carboxylic acid and a catalyst can also be used according to known methods. Other epoxidizing mixtures can also be used for the preparation of the compounds according to the invention. The amount of per compound used is, as usual, 1.05-1.2 moles per mole of ethylene bond. Expediently, epoxidation is carried out at temperatures of 0-40 ° C., but lower or higher temperatures can also be used, depending on the reactivity of the olefin bonds.
In most cases, more than 90% of the double bond is epoxidized. The epoxidation mixture can be worked up in a known manner by washing out the carboxylic acid and the unused peracid using dilute soda solution and then distilling off the solvent under reduced pressure. Separation can also be achieved by distilling off the solvent and carboxylic acid in vacuo.
The purification of the epoxy ethers obtainable according to the invention is carried out, for. B. by fractional distillation in a vacuum. They are mostly more or less viscous liquids, insoluble in water, mostly poorly soluble in aliphatic hydrocarbons and easily soluble in polar solvents.
A particular advantage of the compounds obtainable according to the invention is that they can surprisingly easily be copolymerized with vinyl chloride by various methods and give an internally plasticized polymer with a high softening point and good light and heat stability even in small amounts.
