Boat and use of this boat The present invention relates to a boat and a use of this boat.
This boat is characterized by the fact that its hull comprises two longitudinal floats, arranged laterally, connected by a central plank located above the waterline, this central plank constituting, with the surface of the water and said floats, a longitudinal channel in which forms, when the boat is in motion, an air mattress tending to lift the boat off the plane and to keep it in a substantially horizontal position.
Another subject of the invention is the use of said boat as a container, in particular for transporting luggage, intended to be placed on the roof of a motor car.
The drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view from behind. Fig. 2 is a perspective view, from the front. Fig. 3 is a schematic end view, from behind, of the hull.
Fig. 4 is a schematic end view, from the front, of the hull.
Fig. 5 is a schematic perspective view from below of the hull.
Fig. 6 is a schematic longitudinal section; on a smaller scale, of the hull.
Fig. 7 is a perspective view of a seat for said boat, on an enlarged scale.
The boat shown is made of fiberglass. It comprises a shell 1 and a part 2 forming a cabin, fitted with a windshield 3 and side windows 4.
The hull 1 comprises two longitudinal floats 5, open upwards, arranged laterally and connected by a central board 6; it also has, at its rear end, a central cross member 7 on which is fixed an outboard motor not shown. It should be noted that decorative side parts 8, extending along the floats 5, have only been shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, so as not to affect the clarity of the drawing.
As it appears in figs. 3 and 4, the central board 6 connecting the two floats 5 is located above the waterline. A longitudinal channel 9 is thus formed between the surface of the water, designated by 10 in FIGS. 3 and 4, the central board 6 and the two floats 5. When the boat is running, an air mattress is formed in this channel 9 which tends to lift the boat while maintaining it in a substantially horizontal position. .
The front part of the board 6 ends with a concave inclined part 11 (fig. 4, 5 and 6) raised forward, which facilitates the entry of air into the channel. 9. This inclined part is connected to the bottom of the channel 9 by a flat shoulder 19, with sharp edges, perpendicular to the channel 9 and occupying the entire width of the latter. This shoulder 19, turned towards the rear of the boat, contributes to a very large extent to leveling the boat, especially during departure or when walking at low speeds, this thanks to air vortices which form behind it in channel 9.
The reduction in the draft which results from the aforementioned air mate reduces the work absorbed by the advance of the boat, which also makes it possible to reduce the engine power; in addition, the stability of the boat is greatly increased due to its horizontality during operation. Finally, the characteristic flapping of outboard motor boats, occurring from a certain speed, is also greatly reduced, if not suppressed, due to the presence of the air mattress in channel 9.
The boat shown comprises, at the rear, a transverse seat 12, occupying its entire width, and at the front, two seats 13 each housed in one of the floats 5. One of these seats is shown in detail in fig. 7. It is made up of two fiberglass boxes 14 and 15, capable of floating, and one forming the cushion and the second the back of the seat; the width of this box corresponds to the width of the upper part of the floats. The box 14 has a recessed portion 16 in which the box 15 is simply fitted. Thus, these two boxes can easily be separated from one another.
The base 17 of the cushion 14, as well as the rear face 18 of the backrest 15, are flat, which makes it possible, by placing the two boxes end to end in the floats, the flat faces 17 and 18 facing upwards, to form with the upper face of the board 6 a flat surface making it possible, for example, to extend mattresses therein to form berths.
It should be noted that, thanks to the presence of the floats 5, the boat can rest on dry land without risk of tipping over. This makes it possible to use it as a container, in particular for transporting luggage on the roof of a motor car.
For camping, for example, cars can be fitted with luggage racks fitted with articulated elements that can be folded towards the ground and thus form ramps on which the boat will slide, by its floats, when loading. and its unloading. A fiberglass boat, for four people, weighing only about 80 kg, it will be possible to load it with luggage or camping equipment before its installation on the luggage rack of the car. A winch may be provided for this purpose at the front end of the luggage rack to facilitate the installation and removal of the loaded boat.
