Punching device, in particular for the production of adhesive labels The invention relates to a punching device, in particular for the production of adhesive labels with an elastically supported stationary punching tool and an elongated abutment and a method for operating the punching device z. B. in connection with semi-rotary printing machines.
There are punching devices known which work with a crank drive or toggle lever drive; to punch out a web of material using the crucible principle with flat tools and a flat counter pressure plate as an abutment.
Such punching devices have the disadvantage that the punching tool must be prepared very precisely, that is to say with great effort, until all parts of the punching tool cut evenly.
The present invention aims to avoid this disadvantage and to simplify the processing of the punching tools. For this purpose, the punching device according to the invention is characterized in that the abutment is a roller which can be rolled under counter pressure on the surface defined by the cutting edges of the punching tool or on a surface parallel thereto.
This punching apparatus is suitable for. B. for punching off adhesive labels. Such adhesive labels who are known to be made from a web of material that rests on a carrier web, the adhesive layer of the web of material against the carrier web is directed ge.
In the known processes for producing labels, the punching out and printing of the labels were either carried out simultaneously, or the material web was first printed and then punched out. These methods have the disadvantage that the printed labels are smeared by the punching tools.
When producing adhesive labels from a material web that is printed in label form in a semi-rotary machine, it is advisable that the rolling of the roller on the punching tool with the material web in between takes place before the labels are printed and synchronously with the printing period of the following semi-rotary machine and in batches Web feed in the reversal points of the roller moving back and forth is carried out.
An embodiment of the punching apparatus according to the invention is described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawing, it shows: Fig. 1 shows a carrier web with labels adhering to it and a partially removed waste grate, Fig. 2 is a side view of the punching apparatus, Fig. 3 is a vertical section through the punching apparatus according to line AB in Fig. 2,
FIG. 4 is a plan view of the punching apparatus shown in FIG.
In Fig. 1, a piece of an already punched material web 30 is shown. Because of the adhesiveness of the web of material used for the adhesive labels, the labels 2 remain on the carrier web 1 when the waste grid 3 is removed. Thanks to the adhesion of the material web to the carrier web 1, the labels 2 can first be punched and then printed. After printing then needs. only the waste grid 3 are pulled off, whereupon the finished labels 2 are adhered to the carrier web 1.
The punching apparatus with which this method can be carried out is mounted on two beams 11 as shown in FIGS. 2, 3 and 4, which, for. B. are attached to a printing machine. A base frame 12, on the left end of which a drive shaft 13 is mounted, is attached to this beam 11.
This drive shaft 13 is connected in a known manner to paper feed members of the printing press, which are coupled in such a way that the material is fed forward after half a revolution. On the drive shaft 13, two crank disks 14 are attached, to each of which a connecting rod 15 is articulated by means of a crank pin 22. The connecting rods 15 are each articulated on a slider 16.
Each slider 16 slides on one of the longitudinal sides of the base frame 12 formed as a slideway. Between the sliders 16, a roller 17 is mounted by means of a shaft 17a. Between each end of the roll and slider 16, a ring gear 26 and a running wheel 29 is provided.
The two ring gears 26 are each engaged with a toothed rack 27 attached to a cover 19, while the running wheels 29 each roll on a running strip 28 also attached to the cover 19.
This cover 19 is guided through four columns 18 fastened on the base frame 12 and carries a closing frame 20 in which a punching tool 21 is fastened. Either a steel engraving or a tool formed from steel strips can be used for this punching tool 21. At the upper end of the columns pressure springs 24 are provided, which are supported on the one hand on nuts 25 which are screwed on the upper end of the columns, and on the other hand on the cover 19.
These springs 24 tend to press the cover 19 with the running strips 28 against the running rings 29. The bias of these compression springs 24 is adjustable by the nuts 25, and can be set depending on the size of the punch 21 who the. A wedge 23 is provided between the punching tool 21 and the cover 19, with which the relative position of the punching tool with respect to the runner strips 28 can be adjusted.
The roller 17 is provided with two opposed to the plane surfaces parallel to the axis. The shell parts of the roller 17, which interact with the punching tool 21, are provided with a covering 31 made of thin hardened steel strip. Between tween this covering 31 and the roller 17 can, if necessary, a so-called dressing inserted who the. This dressing consists z.
B. made of thin metal or paper layers, which ensure a uniform application of the coating 31 on the punching tool and thus a uniform and complete punching of the material web.
The operation of the device described is as follows: The material web 30 to be punched out on a carrier web 1 is pushed through a deflection roller -32, over the flattened roller 17 and under the punching tool. The direction of movement of the web of material is indicated by arrow 33.
As soon as the intermittently moving material web comes to a standstill, the drive shaft 13 begins to rotate by 180, so that the crank arms 15 move from the position shown with solid lines (FIG. 2) into the position shown in dashed lines Roller 17 in the sense of arrow 34 with its coating 31 on the punching tool 21, whereby the rotation of the roller 17 is ensured by the gears 26, which roll on the rack 27, while by the races 29, which are on the runner bars 28 unroll,
the correct distance between the roller 17 and the punching tool 21 is guaranteed, with this from standing by the wedge 23 can be adjusted. The pressure of the punching tool on the roller 17 can be adjusted by the bias of the compression springs 24 with the aid of the nuts 25. The ela stically supported stationary punch 21 is raised against the action of the springs 24 first on one side and then on the other side accordingly to the position of the roller 17.
By this rolling from the roller 17 on the punching tool 21, the labels are punched out of the material web, whereupon the material web is pulled forward by a certain length.
During the next rotation of the drive shaft 13, the roller 17 returns to its starting position, rotating in the direction of the arrow 35, with labels again being punched out of the material web.
The diameter of the crank disk 14 is chosen so that the stroke, i.e. the path covered by the roller 17, is greater than the length of the punching tool 21, while the diameter of the roller 17 is selected so that in each of its end positions the flattened Part of the roller 17 @im Be rich in the material web, so that in these Endstel lungs of the roller 17, the feed of the material web can take place.
As can be seen from Fig. 4, the longitudinal center axis 9 of the punching device is not parallel to the longitudinal center axis 10 of the material web, but is inclined by about 3 to 5, while the longitudinal center axis of the punch 17 is parallel to the longitudinal center axis 10 of the material web and in Fig. 4 coincides with this.
This inclination of the punching device with respect to the running direction of the material web to be punched has the following purposes: As can be seen from Fig. 1, the edges of the rectangular label are either parallel or perpendicular to the running direction of the material web.
If the axis of the roller 17 is perpendicular to the running direction of the web, the cutting edges of the punching tool 21, which are parallel to the axis of the roller 17, are pressed against the roller 17 simultaneously over their entire length,
while only a short section of the cutting edges of the punching tool 17, which are perpendicular to the axis of the roller 17, is pressed against the roller 17. As a result, in the first case the specific pressure exerted by the cutting edge on the paper is much smaller than in the second case, and thus the edges of the label perpendicular to the direction of the material web are punched out worse than the other edges.
The cutting edges of the punching tool also wear unevenly.
The inclined position of the punching tool ensures that all the edges of the label are punched out evenly by compensating for the difference in the specific pressure of the cutting edges.
