Device for the lanterning of clockwork parts
The present invention relates to a device for the lanterning of pavements of timepieces, intended in particular to be mounted on an automatic turning lathe, comprising two coplanar rollers between which the pavement is brought, for its lanterning, by an arm of transport, the wheels being mounted on two supports whose common position and spacing are adjustable by means of screws and nuts.
In the known devices, the rollers are mounted idle on their axes so that they are rotated each time a carriageway passes between the rollers which present a new part of their edges to each new carriageway. This fact, which at first sight appears favorable since the edges of the knurls are thus subjected to uniform wear, constitutes, from experience, a drawback. Indeed, the extremely fine and delicate edges of the knurling wheels are fragile. However, if the edge of a wheel is chipped and this wheel rotates continuously, we will obtain, at each turn of the wheel or even less if the wheel has several chips, a defective part, so that it will be necessary to change the dial.
The object of the device according to the invention is in particular to remedy this drawback. It is characterized by the fact that it comprises elastic means for positioning the knurls around their axes and means for taking up the play in the means for adjusting the position and the spacing of the knobs.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, one embodiment of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows a side view of the knurls.
Fig. 2 shows a front view, partially in section, of the wheels and their positioning means.
The device shown comprises two wheels I and 2 rotating freely around their axes on two supports 3 and 4, the common position and the spacing of which are adjustable by a micrometric screw device which will be described later.
The roadway to be lanterned is brought between the two rollers by a conveyor arm, not shown, carrying at the end a work piece holder. The wheels each have a series of holes 5 and 6, respectively, distributed on a circle concentric with the axis of the wheels.
In these holes engages the end of two steel wires 7 and 8 fixed by their other end to a plate 9 or 10, respectively, to the supports 3 and 4. The length of the section of the wires engaging in the knurls and the cross section of these wires are such that they act as return springs when the rollers are driven by the passage of the roadway between the rollers and thus return the rollers to their starting position so that the same section of the edges of the thumbwheels is used for the next roadway. On the other hand, the wires 7 and 8 act as jumpers when the wheels are driven by hand, so that the working position of the wheels can be chosen manually.
When a defective part appears resulting from the chipping of the edge of one of the rolls, it is thus possible to modify the position of the roll to use an intact part of its edge and to continue production without that it is necessary to change the chipped knob.
The device for adjusting the common positioning of the knobs and their spacing comprises a screw 11 having two sections 11a and 1 lob threaded in a left pitch and a right pitch respectively. On these threaded sections are mounted two nuts 12 and 13 secured respectively to the support 3 and the support 4 of the wheels. The screw 11 is mounted in a tube 14 rotatably mounted in a support 15 fixed to the frame of the machine, this tube having a threaded part 14a cooperating with a threaded and graduated drum 16 retained axially in the support 15 and provided with locking screws 17 The upper end of the screw 11 is connected to a knurled and graduated drum 18, the whole acting as a micrometric screw.
It emerges from the drawing that when the drum 18 is rotated, the spacing of the supports 3 and 4 is varied, while when the drum 16 is rotated, the screw 11 moves axially, causing the two wheels in its movement. . A locking screw 19 makes it possible to axially block the screw 11. The clearance of the spacing adjustment nuts 12 and 13 is taken up by means of a spring 20 working in compression between the two supports 3 and 4, while the clearance of the drum 16 is caught by means of a spring 21 housed inside the screw 11 and working in compression between the bottom of the recess 22 and a cylindrical stop 23 integral with the frame 15.
