puis dans le sens opposé de façon à le ramener dans sa position arrière extrême et, d'autre part, de façon à sortir de ladite entrée à la fin de ladite course aller et retour du poussoir. Une forme d'exécution du dispositif, objet de l'invention, est représentée schématiquement et à titre d'exemple au dessin annexé, dans lequel La fig. 1 est une vue générale et simplifiée, en élévation, d'un tour automatique équipé d'un dispo sitif d'alimentation automatique, selon ladite forme d'exécution ;
la fig. 2 est une vue partielle en élévation, avec certaines parties en coupe et à plus grande échelle, du dispositif d'entraînement des poussoirs, au mo ment où celui-ci amène un poussoir dans sa position avant extrême ; la fig. 3 est une vue analogue à la fig. 2, dans laquelle ledit dispositif d'entraînement occupe une position différente ; la fig. 4 est une vue analogue aux deux précé dentes, représentant ledit dispositif d'entraînement au moment où il amène un poussoir dans sa position arrière extrême ;
The present invention relates to a feeding device for an automatic lathe intended to machine series of identical parts at the end of a bar driven in rotation by a headstock of the lathe.
Devices for lathes of this type are already known, in which the bars are gradually pushed into the headstock by means of an endless chain to which a pusher is linked so as to effect a longitudinal back-and-forth movement. comes along a tube of the feeder which serves to guide and support the bar being machined. In these known devices, one of the links of said chain carries a transverse rod engaged in a vertical slot of said pusher. Thus, when said transverse rod moves along one of the parts of the chain, for example towards the front of the lathe, it drives a pusher as well as the bar to be machined in the same direction.
As it rotates around the front chain wheel, said transverse rod moves vertically in the pusher slot and when this rod moves back with the other part of the chain, it drives the pusher back, up to when it turns around the rear chain wheel. Such a mechanism for driving a pusher is most particularly advantageous in the case where the feed device comprises means arranged so as to introduce new bars into said guide tube automatically. Furthermore, said mechanism for driving a pusher is also advantageous owing to the fact that said endless chain can be driven very simply, by a small asynchronous high-slip motor which remains permanently under tension.
In the event that the feed device no longer comprises a single guide tube, but a set of tubes mounted on a revolver drum, each of these tubes contains a pusher, and it is then no longer so easy to drive each of these evenings using an endless chain always turning in the same direction.
However, the aim of the invention is precisely to create a feed device of simple construction, which makes it possible to drive the pushers of each of the tubes of a revolver drum using an endless chain of the type indicated.
The feed device, object of the invention, thus comprises, on the one hand, a magazine-revolver consisting of several tubes capable of receiving several bars to be machined and tines to be placed successively in the axis of the pou pée and, on the other hand, an endless chain subjected to the action of a servomotor in order to transmit a thrust to said bars in the direction of the thrust of the lathe.
This device is characterized in that each tube of said magazine carries a pusher movable axially between a rear position and an extreme front position and intended to press against the rear end of the bar contained in the corresponding tube, and in that said chain carries a drive arm articulated at one end on an element integral with the chain, and the other end of which is arranged, on the one hand, so as to penetrate into an inlet of the pusher mounted in the tube of said magazine which is located in the axis of the headstock, in order to pull this pusher first in the direction of the headstock from its extreme rear position to its extreme front position,
then in the opposite direction so as to bring it back to its extreme rear position and, on the other hand, so as to exit said inlet at the end of said outward and return stroke of the pusher. One embodiment of the device, object of the invention, is shown schematically and by way of example in the accompanying drawing, in which FIG. 1 is a general and simplified view, in elevation, of an automatic lathe equipped with an automatic feed device, according to said embodiment;
fig. 2 is a partial elevational view, with certain parts in section and on a larger scale, of the device for driving the tappets, at the moment when the latter brings a tappet into its extreme front position; fig. 3 is a view similar to FIG. 2, wherein said driving device occupies a different position; fig. 4 is a view similar to the previous two, showing said drive device at the moment when it brings a pusher into its extreme rear position;
fig. 5 is a view similar to FIG. 4, representing certain organs in a slightly different position, and fig. 6 is a view similar to FIGS. 4 and 5, in which the driving device is about to pull a pusher forward.
The automatic lap shown in FIG. 1 com takes a base 1 in which is mounted the main motor of the lathe, which actuates the doll and all the tools thereof by known means. This base 1 carries a frame 2, on which are mounted a doll 3, a support 4 and an auxiliary device 5. The pulley 3 comprises a spindle driven in rotation from the main motor of the lathe by a belt (not shown) passing. through the frame 2 and secured on a pulley (not shown) secured to said spindle.
The latter comprises a clamp capable of closing on a bar to be machined 6 so as to drive this bar in rotation and to move it axially.
To perform this last movement at said bars, the headstock 3 is mounted on a slide 7 of the frame 2 of the reel; it is subjected to the action of a powerful return spring (not shown) which tends to move it. axially towards the rear of the lathe, that is to say towards the right in FIG. 1. The forward movement of this doll 3 is controlled by a camshaft parallel to the axis of the doll and rotatably mounted on the base 2, at the rear of the lathe.
To actuate the doll 3, this shaft carries a cam (not shown) acting on a rocker arm 8 which pivots about an axis parallel to that of the lathe and which extends from the rear to the front of the frame 2 of this latest. An angled lever 9 located in front of the lathe pivots around a stud 10 under the action of the rocker arm 8. At one of its ends, this rocker arm carries a beak which rests on said cam, and at its other end, it acts on a roller 11 rotatably mounted at the end of one of the arms of lever 9.
The other arm of this lever 9 carries a pin 12, against which a plate 13 fixed to the body of the headstock is kept in contact under the action of the spring of the headstock 3. In order to allow the adjustment of the two extreme positions before and rear of the doll 3, the body thereof carries a slide 14, on which is mounted the plate 13. Furthermore, the lever 9 carries an adjustment screw 15, which allows to modify the height position of the pin 12 and thus adjust the length of the axial stroke of the headstock 3.
The support 4 integral with the frame 2 carries slides in which sliders 16 are mounted. Chisels 17 are attached to the latter so as to be arranged in a fan shape on the support 4. By moving in their slide, the sliders 16 amè thus nee the chisels 17 against the end of the bar 6, approximately along a radius thereof. The axial movement of the slides 16 is controlled, upwards, by strong return springs (not shown) and, downwards, by rocker arms 18 carrying micrometric adjustment screws 19, with the aid of which the extreme positions of the 17 chisels can be fine-tuned.
In order to avoid any bending of the part of the bar 6 which extends to the front of the headstock 3, when the chisels 17 are brought into the working position, the support 4 carries a barrel 20, fixed or mobile, in which is engaged the bar 6.
The fan-shaped chisels 17 are thus used to machine the side faces of the parts that are to be manufactured at the end of the bar 6. While these chisels only advance, then retreat radially, the spindle 3 enters the bar 6 in rotation and causes it to advance under the action of said chisels, through the barrel 20.
While the chisels 17 make it possible to shape the lateral faces of the parts to be manufactured at the end of the bar 6, tools carried by the auxiliary apparatus 5 make it possible to perform machining operations coaxially with said parts, from from their anterior end. These tools of the apparatus 5 can be bits, drills, taps or dies, as one sees one in 21.
Each of these tools is mounted in a rotating spindle of the apparatus 5, this spindle itself being pivoted in a movable part of said apparatus, which is arranged so as to be able to bring each of said spindles into the axis of the doll: For this purpose, the movable part of the apparatus 5 can be a seesaw or a revolver drum.
At the moment when one of the tools of the apparatus 5 must come into operation, a cam (not shown), carried by said shaft located behind the base 2, first of all brings the spindle of this tool in the axis of the headstock, then another cam of said shaft actuates a rocker arm, which advances the spindle located in the axis of the headstock in the direction of the part being machined, thus bringing the tool carried by this spindle in position of job. Like the chisels 17, the tools of the apparatus 5 successively come into operation according to a cycle determined for each part to be manufactured. It is quite clear that the tools of the apparatus 5 can work at the same time as some of the chisels 17.
The tools of the apparatus 5 can be kept im mobile since the bar 6 is rotated by the doll 3; they can also be driven themselves in rotation by belts 22, in the opposite direction to that of the bar 6, or in the same direction, at a different speed.
When the chisels 17 and the tools of the apparatus 5 have completed their cycle of operations, one of the chisels 17 is fully engaged, so as to separate from the bar 6 the part which has just been machined. This chisel remains. then in this position until the lathe is ready to undertake a new cycle of operations. Previously, the clamp of doll 3, which is left bare in its extreme front position, opens and doll 3 moves back under the action of its spring of rap pel, of a length exactly equal to that of the parts to be manufactured. . When this doll 3 has come into its extreme rear position, its clamp closes on the bar 6 and the lathe is then ready to start again the machining of a new part.
It suffices for this that the chisel 17, which was fully engaged, is still withdrawn from the path of the bar 6, so that the doll 3 can advance this bar through the barrel 20, and place it under the action of the chisels. 17 and the tools of the device 5.
As the bars 6 are very long in relation to their diameter, a guide and d7ahmentation device is associated with the lathe described, as can be seen in FIG. 1. This device is mounted on a foot 23. It comprises a frame 24 supported at its front end by the base 2 of the lathe. A revolver-drum 25 is pivoted on the frame 24. This drum comprises several tubes, which can each contain a bar to be machined; they thus form a maga sin. The one of these tubes which occupies the upper position of the drum 25 is located in the axis of the poe 3 and it serves to guide and support the bar 6 which is being machined.
The guide and feed device described further comprises a pous evening 26 in each tube of the drum. These pushers are each composed of a rod 38 housed in one of the tubes of the drum 25 and of a butterfly 39 passing through a longitudinal slot of said tubes. A drive member 27 is coupled to the butterfly 39 of the pusher 26 contained in the upper tube of the drum 25, so as to maintain this pusher against the rear face of the bar 6 during machining.
So that the latter does not move back with the headstock 3 at the end of a cycle of operations of the lathe, but remains in good contact with the parting off chisel, it is important that the pusher 26 exerts sufficient pressure to the left. in fig. 1, on the bar being machined. For this, the driving member 27 is carried by an endless chain 28 mounted on two chain wheels 29, 30, located respectively at the front and at the rear of the guide device.
This chain 28 is subjected to the action of a servomotor 31 which may advantageously be constituted by a small asynchronous motor with high slip (about 20%). This motor, of known type, has the effect of exerting a relatively large force on the chain 28, when starting. In addition, it can withstand relatively long downtimes without damage, while remaining energized.
This means that this motor 31 drives the chain 28 as soon as the pusher 26 allows the member 27 to advance to the left in FIG. 1, that is to say when the doll itself moves towards the front of the lathe. In other words, while the bar 6 is being machined, the pusher 26 continuously presses with a determined force against this bar. When the latter has been completely machined, the member 27 passes around the wheel 29 and the motor 31 then moves the pusher 26 back from its extreme front position to an extreme rear position described below.
At this moment, the drive member 27 leaves said pusher and passes over the wheel 30, by actuating a release lever 32 which allows the drum 25 to advance by one step under the action of a counterweight 33 in a manner described below. During this movement, the next tube of drum 25 then arrives in the upper position and the drive member 27 grasps the pusher of this new tube, when the motor 31 has made it pass around the wheel 30 and tends to move it again to the left. in fig. 1.
If the motor 31 exerts a relatively large torque on the member 27 at the time of starting, it may happen that this torque is not sufficient to extract from the barrel 20 the end of the bar 6 which has become unusable, when the chain 28 begins to pull the 'member 27 towards the rear, after the latter has passed around the wheel 29. To avoid this drawback, the poe 3 can assist the action of the servomotor 31, when the latter has to make the end of the motor come out. unusable bar 6 of barrel 20.
For this, the lathe com takes a rod 34 slidably mounted in a support 35 fixed to the frame 2 of the lathe. A return spring 36, stretched between the support 35 and the rod 34, causes the latter to press against the doll 3. This means that this rod 34 follows the movements of the doll 3. A device 37 is also arranged so as to transmit the backward movements of the rod 34 to the pusher 26, at the moment when the member 27 begins to pull this pusher towards the rear of the positive guide device, that is to say at the moment when said pusher must release the barrel 6 bar 20.
The bar ends thus withdrawn from the barrel 20 and from the doll 3, are brought to the rear of the corresponding tube of the drum 25, and they remain in this position, since in the next forward movement of the member 27, that -Here grabs the pusher of another tube, which still contains a bar.
When all the bars of the drum 25 have been machined, the pushers of each of these tubes are vented in their extreme rear position, each with an unusable bar end. The lathe must then be stopped and each of these bar ends must be replaced by hand with a new bar, in order to allow the lathe to work entirely independently for a relatively long time.
In order to perform the functions of the feeding device described above, the pushers drive member comprises an element 27a fixed to the chair 28 and an arm 27b articulated at one end on this element and connected to the other end to the butterfly 39 of the pusher 26, which is mounted in the tube 25a occupying the upper position of the drum 25.
To allow the coupling of the arm 27b to the pin 39, the latter is cut so as to present an elongated inclined opening 40 and an inlet 41 delimited by a horizontal spout 42 and an inclined spout 43. For its part, the arm 27b carries a rod 44 which can pass through the entrance 41 and be introduced into the opening 40. At its other end, the arm 27b has a longitudinal slot 45 so that this arm can move transversely with respect to element 27a, which carries a shank 46 engaged in this slot 45.
As has been said above, the servomotor drives chain 28 always in the same direction, so that the upper strand of this chair moves to the left in FIGS. 2 to 6, i.e. towards the front of the turn.
When the element 27a moves along this upper strand of the chain 28, the shank 44 of the arm 27b is engaged under the spout 42 of the butterfly 39 and it pulls this butterfly and the pusher 26 towards the front of the turn, until 'when the element 27a arrives in the position shown in FIG. 2. In this position, the pusher 26 occupies its most advanced position.
As it no longer opposes any resistance to the movements of the element 27a, the servomotor 31 can actuate the chain 28, so as to make this element 27a rotate around the wheel 29 and to bring it into the position shown in solid lines. in fig. 3, without moving the pusher 26 relative to the tube 25a. In this position shown in solid lines in FIG. 3, the shank 44 of the arm 27b has slipped into the slot 40 of the butterfly 39 and has reached the bottom thereof.
Furthermore, the shank 46 of the member 27a could also have slipped into the slot 45 of the member 27b.
After the element 27a has thus rotated around the wheel 29, it is on the lower strand of the pulpit 28, which moves towards the rear of the lathe. The latter can still continue its movement, without moving the pusher 26 relative to the tube 25a, in any case until the moment when the element 27a arrives in its position shown in phantom in FIG. 3.
As can be seen in this figure, the passage of the element 27a from the position shown in solid lines to that shown in phantom, causes the arm 27b to move down around the shank 44, which is located at the very bottom of the opening. 40. Furthermore, the rod 46 of the element 27a has moved again to the upper end of the slot 45 of this arm 27b in said position shown in phantom.
From this, the element 27a tends to pull the pusher 26 towards the rear of the feed device, by the fact that the shank 44 of the arm 27b remains hooked behind the spout 43 of the butterfly 39.
When the non-machinable bar rest is to be removed from the lathe barrel and the tailstock thereof, as is usually the case in sliding headstock lathes, the element 27a can move freely to the right under the action of the booster 31 with the pusher 26 and this rest of the bar, the pusher of which must then be made integral.
At a given moment, the organs in question arrive in the position shown in FIG. 4, in which the pusher 26 is very close to its extreme rear position. As can be seen in this figure, the drum 25 has ramps 47 at its rear, which are arranged so that the rod 44 of the arm 27b comes into contact with these rams when said elements arrive at the rear of said. feeding device.
The purpose of the ramps 47 is to make this rod 44 come out of the opening 40, by releasing it from the spout 43, as can be seen by comparing FIGS. 4 and 5.
In this last figure, the shank 44 of the arm 27b has left the pusher 26 which is in its extreme rear position; element 27a begins to rotate around chain wheel 30 and at the same time actuates tail 48 of release lever 32, rotating the latter against the action of a spring 49 around a screw within range 50. As soon as the element 27a leaves the tail 48, the spring 49 brings the lever 32 into its initial position. This rocking movement of the lever 32 has the effect of allowing the drum 25 to advance by one step under the action of the counterweight 33.
This exhaust of the drum 25 provided by the lever 32 is due to two nozzles 51 and 52 of this lever which work with a toothing 53 formed at the rear of the drum 25.
Continuing its movement, the chain 28 rotates the element 27a around the wheel 30 and brings it back on its upper strand, moving it again towards the front of the feed device, as can be seen. in fig. 6. During this movement, the shank 44 of the arm 27b returns forward until it passes through the entry 41 and engages under the spout 42, as can be seen in the position. shown in phantom in FIG. 6. From this moment, the chain 28 tends to drive the pusher 26 of the new tube 25b of the drum 25, which has meanwhile reached the upper position of this drum.
This forward movement of said pusher 26 has the effect of advancing the bar contained in the tube 25b until its front end comes into contact with the cutting chisel, after having passed through the headstock and the round gun. This new bar can then be machined until the moment when the drive member 27 arrives in the position shown in FIG. 2.
The feed device described allows the lathe to which it is associated to be operated in an absolutely independent manner for the time it takes for this revolution to machine the bars contained in the tubes of the drum 25.
