Refueling device for automatic lathe with movable headstock The object of the present invention is a refueling device for an automatic lathe with movable headstock, comprising a rotary drum rotating step by step and provided with guides which arrive one after the other. in a work station and are used to support the bars of material during their machining, a bar magazine introducing bars one by one into the guides of the rotating drum, when they occupy a loading station, and a pusher in each guide of the rotating drum, which, in the work station,
advances the bar of this station during its machining then removes the remainder which has become unusable from this bar in order to eliminate it.
A similar refueling device has already been proposed in Swiss patent No. 381500. This prior device comprises a rotating drum having three guides arranged 1200 from each other, these guides passing successively through a loading station, a work station. and an ejection station. Since the guides of the rotating drum are formed by longitudinal grooves whose dimensions must be sufficient to receive bars of diameter corresponding to the maximum capacity of the lathe, it follows that the rotating drum is weakened all the more. that the number of guides it presents is greater.
The aim of the present invention is to create a construction refueling device as light as possible. For this, the rotary drum of the refueling device according to the invention comprises only two diametrically opposed guides, occupying, during the rest of the rotary drum, one, the loading station and the other, the work station. . In addition, a passage allowing the evacuation in free fall of the remains of the bars is arranged on the path that the corresponding guide takes these remains after their removal from the tower and before it reaches the station. loading.
An embodiment of the refueling device according to the invention is shown, by way of example, in the appended drawing, the single figure of which is a cross section.
The device shown comprises a drum 1 rotatably mounted by pivots in bearings located at its ends. This drum consists of a solid cylinder and it has two longitudinal grooves 2, which are diametrically opposed to each other and which act as guides to the bars of material 3 that the refueling device is intended to bring into. the tailstock of an automatic lathe (not shown) so as to ensure the fully autonomous work of this lathe.
A guard in two parts 4a, 4b, fixed to supports 5a, Sb resting on a frame 6, has the effect of retaining the bars 3 in the grooves 2 of the drum 1. The latter is driven step by step in the direction of the arrow a by known means (not shown), so as to perform successive rotations of 180o around its axis, from the position shown in the drawing.
This amounts to saying that at each rest time of the drum 1, the grooves 2 are always located at the same locations I, II, with respect to the guard (4a, 4b). Position I constitutes the loading station for drum 1 and position II its work station. The result of this arrangement is that a groove in the drum 1 passes a bar 3 received at the loading station in the work station, then. returns, in the next step, to take a new bar in station I. The drawing shows that the two stations I and II of drum 1 are arranged in an inclined plane.
Note also that part 4a of the guard extends in the upper part of drum 1, from station I to station II. As for the part 4b of this guard, it is arranged under the drum 1; it closes the groove of station II to the point of preventing the bar 3 which is there to come out of it and it extends in the direction of station I, in the. direction of rotation of drum 1. The part 4a of the guard is used to prevent the material bars from coming out of the grooves 2 during the rotation of drum 1.
In particular, it closes the groove 2 which passes from the loading station to the working one. Finally, note that the two parts 4a, 4b of the guard are not contiguous in the vicinity of the workstation; on the contrary, they leave between them a narrow slot allowing passage to the butterflies 7 of push-buttons 8 housed in the grooves 2.
The butterfly 7 of the pusher 8 of the work station is thus maintained in a horizontal position by said slot, so that it can be actuated parallel to the axis of the drum 1 by a carriage 9 guided by a square bar 10. The carriage 9 grasps the butterfly 7 of the pusher 8 which has arrived in the working position with a new bar 3 to be machined and it advances this bar throughout the time that its machining lasts.
At the end of this, the carriage 9 withdraws the pusher 8 towards the rear of the drum 1 and with it the remainder which has become unusable from the bar 3, with a view to eliminating it. At the end of this recoil movement, the butterfly 7 arrives behind the rear end of the guard (4a, 4b) and it simultaneously enters a narrow slot in a part of larger diameter of the drum 1, which is in the extension of the slot provided between the parts 4a, 4b of the guard.
As the butterflies 7 of the pushers 8 are both in their extreme rear position, that is to say behind the rear end of the guard 4a, 4b, when the drum 1 is called to turn , it follows that neither these butterflies nor the guard (4a, 4b) in any way interfere with the rotation of drum 1.
In an alternative embodiment, the guard (4a, 4b) could be adjusted at least approximately to the cylinder constituting the drum 1 and serve as a bearing prior to the latter.
The bars 3 are loaded into the guides formed by the grooves 2 of the drum 1 using a magazine 11 having an inclined channel 12, in which the bars 3 are aligned so as to form only one row. The store 11 is fixed to the frame 6 by uprights 13.
A mechanism of known type comprising a loading spout 14, a retaining spout 15 and a safety spout 16, lets the bars 3 escape one by one from the channel 12 of the magazine 11, the spouts 14, 15, 16 sliding for this. in slides of the store 11 perpendicular to the channel 12 under the action of levers 17, 18 controlled by rods 19, 20 and maintained in contact with the latter by return springs 21, 22.
In the position shown in the drawing, the refueling device is ready to load the lower bar 3 of the magazine 11 in the groove 2 which occupies the loading station. To perform this operation, it suffices for the rod 19 to push the lever 17 against the action of the spring 21. The nozzles 14 and 16 are then released from the channel 12, so that the lower bar 3 falls into the groove 2. station I, while the other bars 3 of the magazine 11 fall on the retaining spout 15. Immediately after this loading operation, the rod 19 is withdrawn and allows the spring 21 to return the lever 17 to the position shown in the drawing, in which the spout 16 isolates the lower bar 3 of the magazine 11 from the rest of the bars contained in this magazine.
The rod 20 then causes the spout 15 to come out of the channel 12, so as to allow the bar 3 previously isolated by the safety spout 16 to fall on the loading spout 14. Finally, the lever 18 is returned to the position. shown in the drawing before the next loading operation. When loading a bar 3 into the drum 1, the pusher 8 of the loading station occupies its most remote known position indicated above, so that the bar 3 released by the spout 14 falls in front of this pusher. The latter has in its extreme front part a clamp similar to that which has been described in Swiss Patent No. 350854, the transverse passage between the two arms of the clamp being perpendicular to the butterfly 7 of the pusher.
As in the device described in this patent, the pliers of the pusher grips a head formed at the rear end of the bar when the latter abuts against the part-parting chisel after having been advanced by the pusher through the tailstock and the guide barrel of the lathe.
This advance of a bar 3 under the action of the carriage 9 takes place while a new bar 3 is loaded into the drum 1 at station I.
To ensure the elimination of the remainder become useless of the bar 3 after its removal from the lathe, the drum 1 present at the place where the remains of the bars 3 arrive when the carriage 9 has withdrawn the pusher 8 in its extreme rear position , a flare 23 of each of the grooves 2, the length of which is slightly greater than that of the remains of the bars 3, and the part 4b of the guard has a window 24 extending under the flare 23 of the groove 2 which is in the working position, the dimensions of this window correspond to those of the flare 23.
This flare 23 and the window 24 thus form a vertical passage which allows the remains of bars 3 withdrawn in their extreme rear position to fall from the grooves 2 in free fall by freeing themselves from the pliers of the pusher, the transverse passage of which is vertical, since the butterfly 7 of the workstation pusher is horizontal. The drum 1 is only rotated by a half-turn for a certain time after the pusher 8 of the workstation has been returned to its extreme rear position, in order to allow ample time for the rest of the bar removed. of the turn to fall through the passage (23, 24).
To prevent a rest of the bar, which would not normally fall from the drum 1 after being removed from the lathe, from causing significant damage, the refueling device described further comprises a control member 25 with a feeler 26. This member can be constituted by a switch inserted in an electric circuit for controlling the clutch of the camshaft of the lathe or by a valve of a hydraulic or pneumatic circuit for controlling the same clutch. The feeler 26 is engaged in a peripheral groove 27 of the drum 1 formed through the flares 23 of the grooves 2. Its free end plunges into a place in the groove 27 situated between the passage (23, 24) and the loading station.
A rest of the bar accidentally left in a groove 2 would therefore actuate the feeler 26 and cause the lathe functions to stop even before this groove 2 has reached the loading station.
