Dans les tours automatiques connus, équipés d'un transporteur avec pince, les organes destinés à commander la fermeture de cette pince ne sont pas agencés de façon à provoquer ladite fermeture à un moment bien précis du cycle d'usinage desdites piè ces ;
Une forme d'exécution du tour automatique, objet de l'invention, est représentée, schématiquement et à titre d'exemple, au dessin annexé, dans lequel la fig. 1 est une vue de face d'une partie du tour constituant ladite forme d'exécution ; la fig. 2 est une vue en plan partielle de cette forme d'exécution ; la fig. 3 est une vue à une échelle considérable ment plus grande d'une partie du tour représentée à la fig. 1 ;
Au cours de ce déplacement du bec 24, le bras du transporteur 16 passe de sa position angulaire extrême représentée à la fig. 1, jusque dans son autre position angulaire extrême, dans laquelle la tige 30 appuie sur l'extré mité de la vis 31 et dans laquelle l'extrémité du bras du transporteur 16 est située en face de la seconde poupée ; des cames (non représentées) ouvrent alors la pince de la seconde poupée tout en faisant avan cer cette pince en direction du transporteur, la came 34 produisant également un déplacement axial du bras du transporteur 16 en direction de la poupée 17 ;
après que la pince de la poupée 17 a saisi la pièce 10 amenée par le transporteur, le bec 24 re descend de la rampe 20b sur la rampe 20a en rame nant par conséquent le bras du transporteur 16 dans la position angulaire représentée à la fig. 1, cette course de retour du bras dudit transporteur 16 ayant lieu au moment où celui-ci est le plus éloigné de la poupée 1, par la came 34. ;
Automatic lathe The object of the present invention is an automatic lathe comprising a headstock intended to drive a bar to be machined in rotation, tools located at the front of this headstock. and intended to machine series of identical parts at the end of said bar, under the action of cams wedged on a common shaft, one of these tools being intended to section the parts, from said bar when their machining at the end of it is finished,
and a conveyor having a gripper intended to grab the parts as they are cut from said bar, and to bring them to another station of the lathe in order to carry out at least one processing operation there. additional machining.
In known automatic lathes, equipped with a conveyor with gripper, the members intended to control the closing of this gripper are not arranged so as to cause said closing at a very precise moment in the machining cycle of said parts;
if they can be adjusted so as not to close said conveyor clamp before the part, which has just been machined at the end of said bar, has been severed from it, they are however not not arranged to close this clamp at the precise moment when said part is detached from the bar. In the case of relatively large parts or parts of which the entire front part can penetrate inside a barrel of the transporter, these,
There is no risk of parts falling or being placed in an undesirable position before the conveyor clamp closes.
The known carriers are not, however, suitable for satisfactorily gripping parts of very small dimensions and even less for gripping parts by their middle part with a view to inserting their anterior part, for example in a second headstock of the lathe. The object of the invention is to create an automatic lathe of the type indicated above, in which the clamp of the conveyor can be closed at the precise moment when the machined parts are detached from the bar.
For this, one of the cams used to control them. lathe tools is arranged so as to control the closing of the conveyor clamp.
By thus controlling the closing of the conveyor clamp from a cam controlling one of the tools of the lathe, it is naturally possible to obtain without difficulty perfect synchronism between the tool which cuts the workpiece and closes it. - ture of the conveyor clamp,
all the better if the closing of the. conveyor clamp is controlled from the cam which at the same time controls the tool severing the workpiece from the bar.
An embodiment of the automatic lathe, object of the invention, is shown, schematically and by way of example, in the accompanying drawing, in which FIG. 1 is a front view of part of the lathe constituting said embodiment; fig. 2 is a partial plan view of this embodiment; fig. 3 is a view on a considerably larger scale of part of the lathe shown in FIG. 1;
fig. 4 is an elevational view from the left of the part of the lathe shown in FIG. 3, and fig. 5 is a plan view of this part of the tower. The lathe shown in the drawing comprises a first doll 1 mounted on a frame 2 and intended to drive a bar 3 to be machined in rotation.
The anterior part of this bar 3 rotates in the barrel 4 of a telescope <I> 4a </I> fixed to a support <I> 4b </I> solidary to the frame 2. Tools. 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, machine series of parts 10, identical, at the end of bar 3. As seen in FIG. 1, the tools 5 to 9 consist of chisels arranged in a fan shape. The two extreme chisels 5 and 9 are mounted on tool holders. 5a and 9a fixed in an adjustable manner on the same rocker 11 journaled at 12 on the support 4b.
As for the chisels 6 to 8, they are each mounted on a slide (not shown), guided by a slide secured to the support 4b. The work of the chisels 5. And 9 is controlled by a cam 13, wedged on a camshaft 14, by means of a nose 15 of the rocker <B> 11, </B> which is kept in contact with cam 13 by a spring (not shown). It emerges from FIG. 1 that the cam 13 causes the chisel 5 to enter into function when the nozzle 15 is on the ramp 13a of this cam, while the chisel 9 is in operation when the nozzle 15 arrives on the ramp 13b of said cam.
In the position shown in the drawing, the nozzle 15 is on an intermediate ramp 13c, so that the chisels 5 and 9 are both disabled. The advance of the chisels 6 to 8 is controlled in a known manner (not shown) by cams similar to the cam 13 and wedged on the shaft 14, these cams acting on the slides carrying the chisels 6, 7, 8, by the 'intermediate rocker arms (not shown).
The lathe shown is arranged so as to be able to be equipped with an auxiliary device placed in front of the chisels 5 to 9, opposite the front end of the bar 3, so that tools (center bits, drills, taps, dies) carried by this auxiliary device can perform operations on the part 10 being machined, in the axis of this part, while the headstock 1 drives it in rotation.
When all the tools described (chisels 5 to 9 and tools of said auxiliary apparatus), having a machining operation to be carried out on one of the parts 10 at the end of the bar 3, have finished their work, the chisel 8 is advanced by its cam so as to separate this part 10 from the bar 3.
The parts 10 thus separated from the bar 3 are not, however, finished. A transporter 16 picks them up as they are separated from bar 3 and moves them along the path. a (fig. 1) so as to bring the front part 10a into the clamp of a second doll 17 of the lathe.
When a part 10 has been brought into the clamp of this second headstock, the latter drives said part in rotation and tools (not shown), such as center bits, drills, taps, dies, mounted on a second auxiliary device. (not shown) located opposite the headstock 17, next to the headstock 1, can then successively come into operation in order to complete the machining of said part 10 by carrying out operations thereon, from its rear face.
When the tools of this second auxiliary apparatus have finished their machining operations, the clamp of the headstock 17 is opened and the finished part 10 is ejected therefrom so as to fall into a collecting container (not shown).
While the functions of the headstock 1 and of the tools performing a machining operation on the part 10, when the latter is still at the end of the bar 3, are controlled by cams wedged on the main shaft 14 of the lathe, the functions of the doll 17 and the tools of the auxiliary device placed in front of this doll 17, are controlled by cams (not shown) wedged on a second camshaft 18, parallel to the first, but located at the front of frame 2 of the lathe. The two camshafts 14 and 18 are synchronized by a transverse shaft (not shown) and gears, in a known manner.
The arm of the conveyor 16 is mounted in a part integral with the frame 2 of the lathe via an axis 19, so that this axis can rotate on itself and slide longitudinally. The rotations of the axis 19 are controlled by a cam 20, wedged on the shaft 18, by means of a lever 21 journalled at 22 on a solid part of the frame 2 of the lathe.
This lever 21 follows the contours of the cam 20 under the action of a spring 23, by means of a spring loaded nose 24. At its end opposite the nose 24, the lever 21 has a sector toothed 25 in engagement with a toothing 26 of the axis 19.
As indicated above, the cam 20 is intended to tilt the conveyor 16 from the position shown in FIG. 1, in which its end is in front of doll 1, up to another extreme position (not shown), in which said end is in front of doll 17.
So that the angular position of the arm of the conveyor 16, which is shown in FIG. 1, or well determined, an adjustable stop, consisting of a screw 27, is mounted on an arm. 28 integral with the frame of the lathe, this screw 27 being blocked by a screw 29. This stop 27 prevents the arm of the conveyor 16 from rotating in the direction of clockwise in FIG. 1, when the arm of said transporter 16 is advanced against the doll 1, by the fact that a rod 30, integral with the arm of the transporter 16, presses against the end of this screw 27.
To ensure satisfactory contact between the rod 30 and the screw 27, the contour of the cam 20 is made to a diameter large enough to slightly compress the spring of the beak 24 at the moment when the latter is on the ramp 20a of said cam. Consequently, the spring of the beak 24 compensates for the flaps of the toothed sector 25 in the toothing 26; so as to actually apply the rod 30 against the screw 27 and to maintain the arm of the conveyor 16 in a very precise angular position at the moment when the part 10, detached from the bar 3, must be picked.
The other extreme position of the arm of the conveyor 16 is determined in a similar fashion by a stop screw 31 mounted on an arm 32, integral with the frame of the lathe, and blocked by a screw 33. As in the case of the first extreme position , the ramp 20b of the cam 20 is also made with a diameter sufficient to arm the spring of the beak 24 and actually make the rod 30 press against the end of the screw 31, compensating for the flakes of the sector 25 in the teeth 26 .
The longitudinal movements of the axis 19 are controlled from a cam-bell 34 by means of a lever 35 which a spring 36 causes to move around a fixed journal 37 so as to hold a hand. stud 38 in contact with the cam 34. At its end opposite the stud 38, the lever 35 has a second stud 39 engaged in a groove 40 of the axis 19. By tilting around its journal 37, the lever 35 consequently moves the axis 19 and the arm of the conveyor 16 towards the front or the rear of the lathe, parallel to the axes of the dolls 1 and 17, according to the contours of the ramps of the cam 34.
From the position shown in fig. 1, in which the conveyor 16 is ready to receive a part 10 which will be detached from the bar 3, the arm of the conveyor 16 cycles through the following movements: the cam 34 begins by moving it away from the headstock 1, d 'on the one hand, in order to disengage the part 10 entirely from the chisels 5 to 9 and, on the other hand, in order to disengage the rod 30 from the stop screw 27; then the cam 20 comes into action by causing the spout 24 of the ramp 20a to rise on the ramp 20b.
During this movement of the spout 24, the arm of the conveyor 16 passes from its extreme angular position shown in FIG. 1, up to its other extreme angular position, in which the rod 30 bears on the end of the screw 31 and in which the end of the arm of the conveyor 16 is located opposite the second doll; cams (not shown) then open the clamp of the second headstock while advancing this clamp in the direction of the conveyor, the cam 34 also producing an axial displacement of the arm of the conveyor 16 in the direction of the headstock 17;
after the clamp of the headstock 17 has gripped the part 10 fed by the conveyor, the spout 24 descends from the ramp 20b onto the ramp 20a, consequently rowing the arm of the conveyor 16 in the angular position shown in FIG. 1, this return stroke of the arm of said conveyor 16 taking place at the moment when the latter is furthest from the headstock 1, by the cam 34;
finally this last rap axially close the arm of the carrier 16 of the doll. 1 at the moment when a new part 10 is to be picked at the end of the bar 3, the engagement of the rod 30 behind the stop screw 27 being facilitated by a notch 20c of the cam 20, which causes a small additional displacement of the conveyor arm 16 in the counterclockwise direction, at the precise moment when the cam 34 brings the conveyor arm 16 closer to the headstock 1.
In order to be able to pick up the part 10 that the chisel 8 detaches from the bar 3, the arm of the conveyor 16 carries a clamp made up of two jaws 41, 42, this clamp being shown in detail in FIGS. 3 to 5. The two jaws 41 and 42 are mounted on a journal 43 planted in the end of the arm of the conveyor 16, parallel to the axes of the gears 1 and 17. The jaw 41 is maintained in an angular position once adjusted. , for a whole series of identical parts to be machined.
For this purpose, it carries an adjustment screw 44 as a leaf spring 45, acting on the end of a. spout 46 of the jaw 41, presses on a face 47 of the arm of the conveyor 16. The opening and closing of the clamp in question are provided by corresponding movements of the jaw 42 around the turret 43. This jaw 42 is biased by a spring piston 48 towards the closed position of the clamp.
In order to keep the latter open, the arm of the conveyor 16 carries a pawl 49 journaled at 50 and subjected to the action of a spring piston 51. A part 52 is fixed to the pawl 49 by a screw 53 engaged in a elongated opening 54 of the part 52. At one of its ends, the part 52 carries a spout 55 fixed by a screw 56. At its other end, the part 52 has a heel 57.
In the position shown in FIG. 3, the jaws. 41, 42 are held open by the spout 55, the end of which is engaged on an arm 58, which has been manufactured with the jaw 42 of said clamp. Given the direction in which the spring piston 51 acts on the pawl 49 and the direction of the engagement faces of the nose 55 and the arm <B> 58, </B> this nose 55 remains in engagement with the arm 58 by preventing the jaw 42 from closing the clamp under the action of the spring piston 48.
As can be seen without further in fig. 3, the degree of opening of the clamp can be varied thanks to the elongated opening 54, which allows the spout 55 to be fixed in different positions with respect to the arm of the conveyor 16.
To cause the clamp to close, the spout 55 must therefore be withdrawn by freeing the arm 58 from the jaw 42. In other words, the pawl 49 must pivot with the part 52 around its journal 50, against the action of the spring piston 51, to ensure the closure of the clamp. This movement of the pawl 49 and of the part 52 is provided by the action on the heel 57 of a leaf spring 59 (FIG. 1). This blade 59 is fixed at one end to a support 60 integral with the frame of the lathe.
It is bent and the end of the heel 57 engages under the free end of this blade, when the cam 34 moves the arm forward. of the transporter 16 in the direction of the headstock 1 to grab the part 10 as the chisel. 8 will stretch ner. This blade 59 is also located under the action of a screw 61 engaged in a stud 62 fixed to a part integral with the lever 11.
The opinion. 61 allows the position of the free end of the blade 59 to be adjusted as a function of the position of the lever 11, a locking screw 63 holding the screw 61 in its adjusted position.
In the position shown in FIG. 1, the chisel 8 is about to cut off the part 10 and the nose 15 of the rocker 11 to fall from the ramp 13c on the ramp 13d of the cam 13. During the movement of the rocker 11 which results therefrom, the screw 61 deforms the leaf spring 59 downwards in FIG. 1, so that the pawl 49 is actuated against its piston 51 and that its beak 55 releases the arm 58 from the jaw 42.
In summary, the fall of the nose 15 of the ramp 13c on the ramp 13d causes the almost instantaneous closure of the jaws 41, 42 of the clamp. It is therefore sufficient to cut the cam 13 so that said fall takes place when the chisel 8 reaches the end of its travel.
It is obvious that the cutting of the part 10 could also be ensured by the chisel 9. In this case, it would be sufficient to adjust the screw 61 so that it makes the leaf spring 59 rest on the heel 57 when the nozzle 15 descends the ramp of cam 13 which ensures the entry into function of chisel 9.
Instead of mounting the screw 61 on a rocker, it could also be mounted on the slide of the chisel which ensures the cutting of the part 10, this screw then actuating the pawl 49 when said slide reaches the end of its travel.
By controlling in the manner described above the closing of the jaws 41, 42 of the gripper from a cam serving to control the functions of one of the lathe tools, it is possible to perfectly synchronize the closing of the clamp. gripper and the cutting of the workpiece, to the point of gripping, between the two jaws of said gripper, a median bearing surface 10b of the workpiece 10, which is relatively narrow,
before this part falls or is placed through it and without risking however to seize the part 10 before it is cut off from the bar 3, thus avoiding the formation of a stud on the rear face of the part 10, due to premature rupture of the collar connecting part 10 to bar 3, when the chisel intended to separate it has already started operating, but has not yet reached the end of its travel.
After the clamp has been closed as described, it remains in this position until the moment when the headstock clamp 17 pulls the workpiece 10 axially out of the jaws 41, 42. The locking in position. open of the clamp in question, shown in fig. 3, is provided by a semi-cylindrical arm 64 carried by a support 65 fixed to the frame of the doll 17 (fig. 1 and 2).
The flat face 66 of this arm 64 is arranged in particular so as to be in the path of the arm 58 when the transporter 16 moves from the doll 17 towards the doll 1, the location of this face 66 being in particular adjusted to so as to tilt the jaw 42 of the clamp at a sufficient angle around the journal 43 so that the arm 58 passes under the spout 55, the piston 51 then engaging this spout 55 on the arm 58, as seen in fig. 3.
Since the transporter 16 goes from the first doll to the second when its axis 19 occupies an intermediate position, but that it returns from the doll 2 towards the doll 1 when its axis 19 occupies an extreme position, it suffices to adjust the arm 64 so that the arm 58 avoids it in the forward stroke of the conveyor, at the same time to prevent said arm 64 from causing undesirable opening of the jaws 41, 42 of the gripper.
The use of the conveyor described is not limited to two-head towers. A similar conveyor can be used advantageously in all lathes comprising at least a second work station, in which the spare parts of the bar to be machined must be brought in to undergo one or more machining operations therein.
