Device for closing a container
The present invention relates to a device for closing a container having a neck limiting a tubular dispensing orifice.
This closing device is characterized by the fact that it comprises a shutter member of generally spherical shape pierced with a diametral passage and provided with a boss allowing its operation, this shutter member being kept in contact with the dispensing orifice by a cap with a hemispherical internal surface fixed to the neck of the container, this cap having, on the one hand, a slot in which the maneuvering boss is engaged and, on the other hand, an opening with which the diametrical passage is brought into coincidence , in dispensing position.
The appended drawing represents, schematically and by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an axial sectional view of the closure device in the closed position of a container.
Fig. 2 is a side view of this device,
fig. 3 being a plan view showing the device in the open position.
The closure device described with reference to the accompanying drawing is intended to be adapted to a container having a neck 1 shown in phantom in FIG. 1, this neck 1 limiting a tubular dispensing orifice 2. Such a neck may form part of a bottle, of a tube capable of being deformed by pressure in order to extract the contents therefrom, or of any other flasks.
The closure device of such a container comprises a shutter member 3 of generally spherical shape. This shutter member 3 is pierced with a diametral passage 4. It is also provided with a boss 5 intended to constitute the operating member of the closing device. This closure member 3 is kept in contact with the edge 6 of the dispensing orifice 2 by a cap 7. In the example shown, as the neck 1 of the receptacle has a thread 8, the cap 7 is itself threaded for be able to be screwed onto the neck 1. Thus, the edge 6 of the dispensing orifice 2 constitutes a seat for the shutter member 3.
This cap 7 therefore has an internal surface 9 of generally hemispherical shape in order to be able to hold the shutter member 3 applied against the dispensing orifice 2. This cap 7 has, on the one hand, a slot 10 in which the boss of the valve is engaged. operation 5 and, on the other hand, a central opening 11. In the example shown, the slot 10 constitutes a lateral extension of this dispensing opening of the cap 7. It will be understood without further, from the view of the drawing, that the position closure of the device described above is obtained when the boss 5 is brought into the dispensing opening 11. In fact, in this position, a solid part of the shutter member 3 completely covers the edge 6 of the tubular distribution orifice 2. The passage 4 is closed at its two ends by the cap 7.
When it is desired to allow distribution of the contents of the container to the outside, the boss 5 is moved in the slot 10 to bring it into the position shown in FIG. 3.
When the boss abuts against the bottom 12 of the slot 10, the diametral passage 4 is in coincidence with the opening 11, as well as with the dispensing orifice 2. The contents of the container can therefore be expelled out. of it.
Preferably, the shutter member 3, as well as the cap 7, are made of pressed molded material such as plastics, for example. Of course, many variants of execution could be imagined. Thus, the shape of the cap 7 can be changed depending on the kind of container on which the cap is to be attached. The tapping of this cap could be replaced by a bayonet fixing device. As a further variant, the cap 7 could have sufficient elasticity to allow it to be forcefully engaged over the bead that certain bottles have. In the latter case, an internal bead could be arranged at the edge of the lower part of the cap 7. As for the slot 10, it could be independent of the opening 11 of the cap 7.
In another embodiment, the cap 7 could be crimped around the neck 1 of the container. This cap could be attached in any way to the neck 1 for example, it could also be glued or welded against the neck 1.
