Combined mixer and vegetable cutter The present invention relates to a combined mixer and vegetable cutter, that is to say an appliance with which it is possible, on the one hand, to mix liquid or foodstuffs. liquid and solid food or beat food (cream, new, etc.) and, on the other hand, cut vegetables into pieces.
To this end, the apparatus according to the invention is characterized by a cylindrical container with a removable bottom, by a bell for closing the container, by a sliding rod axially passing through this bell and carrying, at its upper end, a handle of the container. - Work in which the rod can rotate freely and, at its lower end, a connecting piece in which is intended to be engaged either a removable beater or a removable cutting device, depending on whether the device is used as a mixer or as a vegetable cutter, this mixer and this cutting device both being housed in the container if the appliance is not in use and, finally,
by a spring returning the rod upwards, the latter having a helical groove and being engaged in a corresponding groove nut mounted inside a bearing through which this rod passes, means allowing, at will, to obtain the locking of the nut when the rod is lowered, to force it to turn on itself, and its free rotation when the rod is raised, when using the device with the mixer, or to obtain free rotation of the nut in both directions of movement of said rod, when the device is used with the cutting device.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the apparatus according to the invention. Fig. 1 shows, in vertical section, the upper part of the apparatus; fig. 2 represents the apparatus fitted out for beating cream or other liquid; fig. 3 shows the apparatus arranged for neck per vegetables, for example potatoes sticks, and FIG. 4 shows the apparatus as it appears when not in use.
The apparatus shown comprises a cylindrical container 38, closed at its upper part by a bell 1, a beater whisk 37 and a cutting device 40/41, both being removable and housed in the container 38 when not in use. of the appliance (see fig. 4).
The bell 1 supports the actuation mechanism of the tools of the apparatus; this mechanism comprises a tool-holder rod 22, the upper end of which 25 is rotatably mounted in an operating handle 29 screwed onto a guide tube 35.
The rod 22 has a helical groove along most of its length; its upper end has a diameter smaller than that of the rest of the rod and is engaged in a washer 26 clamped between the end of the tube 35 and a shoulder 34 of the hole 30 of the handle 29, a pin 27 passing through the rod preventing the latter to disengage from the washer 26 and, consequently, from the handle. Between the end 25 of the rod and the bottom of the hole 30 in the handle are arranged a steel ball 32 and a disc 31, also made of steel. The rod can thus turn with ease in the handle 29.
The tube 35 is slidably mounted in the upper part of a socket 3, the upper end of which is threaded into the center of the bell 1 and blocked on the latter using a nut 9, screwed onto the socket with interposition a washer 8. The lower part of the bush 3 has a diameter greater than that of the upper part and has two successive internal shoulders 13 and 7 '. The first provides support to a washer 14 and the second to a washer 7, both freely traversed by the rod 22. Between these two washers is housed a rubber damping ring 15.
Between the washer 14 and the washer 26 is compressed a helical spring 28 tending to bring the rod 22 upwards. The ron delle 7 is held in place by a sleeve 6 fully screwed into the lower part of the sleeve 3 and locked by a clamping screw 12. This sleeve 6 has, from the top, a cylindrical bore 16, followed by a frustoconical seat 18 which connects to a threaded portion extending to the other end of the sleeve.
The bore 16 serves as a housing for a ring of balls 17 interposed between the ron delle 7 and a frustoconical nut 24 bearing on the aforementioned seat 18. In the threaded portion of the sleeve 6 is screwed a pierced stopper 20 supporting at its upper part a second ring of balls 23. The bell 1 is closed by a bottom 2 crossed by the sleeve 6 and clamped ,, with interposition of a washer 10, between a nut 11 screwed onto this sleeve and the base of the sleeve 3.
The lower end of the rod 22 is provided with a threaded connection piece 36, into which one or other of the tools of the device is intended to be screwed. When not in use, it is the beater 37 which is screwed into the connector 36. If you want to beat cream, for example, you unscrew the bell 1, you extract, by inverting the container 38 , the cutting device 40 / 4l, the cream is introduced into the container and the bell is replaced after having checked that the stopper 20 is not fully screwed into the sleeve 6.
By lowering the handle 29 against the action of the spring 28, the rod 22 exerts a thrust on the frustoconical nut 24, which gets stuck in the frustoconical seat 18 of the sleeve 6, the opening angle of the cone being established so that, taking into account the coefficient of friction between the parts 6 and 24, this jamming occurs. The nut therefore forces the rod to turn on itself, which causes the beater 37 to rotate. When the handle is released, the spring 28 causes the rod to rise with the beater; this rod exerts an upward thrust on the nut 24, which has the effect of detaching the nut from its seat and pressing it against the crown of balls 17 which then comes to rest against the underside washer 7.
The nut can thus turn freely, which will allow the rod to rise without changing the direction of rotation; depending on the density of the liquid to be beaten, the rod will continue to turn on its momentum, for a longer or shorter time during its ascent. For the operation of the device, it suffices to give the nut 24 an axial play of a few tenths of a millimeter.
The cutting device comprises (Fig. 3) a knife 40 formed by two series of vertical blades crossing at right angles. This set of blades is guided in slots 43 formed in a cylindrical stud 41 and having exactly the same arrangement as the blades of the knife. This stud has four legs 44 to which correspond, at the upper part of the stud, four small projections 45. The bottom 39 of the container 38 is removable. To use the device to cut vegetables, potatoes, for example, the base 39 is unscrewed, the mixer is removed, 37 and the cutting device is screwed in its place, after having fully screwed the plug 20; at the end, the bell is screwed onto the container 38 without its bottom 39.
Then place one or two potatoes on the table and place the appliance on top of them, which also rests on the table. The handle 29 is then pushed in. The nut 24, lifted from its seat 18 and resting on the lower ring of balls 23, is free to turn, which means that, during the descent, the rod 22 does not turn on herself. The knife therefore performs a simple translation, parallel to its blades, and cuts the potato or potatoes into sticks.
When the handle 29 is released, the spring 28 brings the rod and the neck upwards, the sticks being retained by the underside of the stud 41 in which the guide slots 43 of the blades of the knife are formed. We now lift the device and start the operation again with other potatoes. During the ascent of the rod 22, the nut 24 presses against the upper ring of balls 17 and rotates freely around the rod which therefore moves without turning. The stud 41 remains stationary during the movements of the knife because, on the one hand, its legs 44 rest on the table and, on the other hand, its projections 45 abut against the bottom 2 of the bell.
If the appliance is not being used, the beater 37 is screwed onto the connector 36, the container 38 is placed, the bottom 39 of which has been screwed on, the cutting device 40/41 with the legs in the air. and the bell is screwed onto the container 38.
