Selvedge guide apparatus for fabric The subject of the invention is a selvedge guide apparatus for fabric, in particular, intended for the offshore introduction of fabrics into finishing ma chines such as, for example, reams, scarves, etc. dyeing machines, dryers, flaming machines, bleaching plants, folding and winding machines, etc.
Oscillating movement introducer devices are already known comprising two similar heads mounted at the inlet of the machine, one for the right edge, the other for the left edge, each head comprising, in general, two rollers between. which passes the binder of the fabric to be guided, one of the rollers being in a fixed position, the other in a mobile position, the operation being such that, when a lateral shift of the fabric occurs towards one of the heads of the selvage guide, this one sees its action progressively neutralized as and when the rollers of this head approach the horizontal position, while the appeal exerted by the opposite head brings the fabric back to its position normal.
The object of the present invention is to create an apparatus of the type referred to, the directing effect of which on the tissue is appreciably greater than that of the apparatus known hitherto.
To this end, the apparatus according to the invention comprises, for each selvedge, a guide head having a pivoting frame capable of pivoting about a pivot axis substantially perpendicular to the plane of the fabric to be guided, two parallel rotating rollers dis placed on either side of the fabric and mounted on said frame such that one of said rollers rotates around a fixed axis, while the other rotates around an axis capable of effecting a movement of spacing and approximation with respect to the first roll, approximation means constantly tending to bring the second roll closer to the first,
pivoting means constantly tending to cause said frame to pivot about the pivot axis so as to reduce the angle formed by the axis of the rollers with the. edge of the fabric, embedding means producing a variable force, the magnitude of which depends on the depth of engagement of the edge of the fabric in these means and the action of which is opposite to that of said pivoting means, and means of 'spacing positively causing the spacing of the movable axis roller from the fixed axis roller when the frame is approached, by the combined and opposing action of the clamping means and the pinning means, from the position in which the rollers are perpendicular to the edge of the fabric.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, two embodiments of the apparatus according to the invention. Fig. 1 is a front elevational view of a first embodiment of the apparatus.
Fig. 2 is a plan view from above. Fig. 3 is an end view, a counterweight being assumed to be removed.
Fig. 4 shows a guide head of a second embodiment of the apparatus, this head being provided with a return spring replacing the counterweight and equipped with a grooved pulley instead of a fork.
Figs. 5 and 6 are diagrams showing one embodiment of the apparatus in various phases of operation.
The illustrated embodiments of the apparatus include two heads <I> A </I> and <I> A '</I> (fig. 5 and 6), placed respectively to the right and to the left of the inlet d. a machine receiving the fabric off, assuming that the apparatus is mounted on a strand of fabric moving vertically up and down. In the first embodiment, each head comprises (fig. 1, 2 and 3) a fixing support 1 by which the head is bolted to the machine or to the device to support it. A frame 2 is mounted to oscillate around an axis 3 fixed to the support 1. On the frame 2 is mounted a fixed axis 4 carrying a rotating roller .5.
A rotary roller 6 is mounted on an axis 7 integral with a movable arm 8 provided at its upper end with an axis 9 'which is engaged with gentle friction in a sleeve 2a. At the lower end of the movable arm is mounted a pin 10 carrying a roller 11 which, depending on the tilt of the frame 2, can come into contact with a cam 12 mounted on an arm 1a integral with the fixing support 1. The roller 6 is applied against the roller 5 by the action of a res out 13 fixed, on the one hand, to the free end of the axis 7 and, on the other hand, to the frame 2 by the intermediate a screw 14 provided with a wheel 15 intended to ensure the exact adjustment of the pressure exerted by the tension of the spring between the rollers 5 and 6.
A device 16, fixed to the frame 2, and on which the edge becomes entangled, that is to say which forces said edge to take a more undulating shape as it engages more deeply , is constituted by a fork whose branches are bent in such a way that in vertical projection they go by diverging from their attachment points.
At rest, the heads <I> A </I> and <I> A '</I> take an inclined position according to FIG. 5 under the action of a counterweight 17 mounted on a lever. This arrangement can be used for guiding tissue moving in a vertical or steeply inclined direction. For guidance in the horizontal direction, or slightly inclined, the position of the counterweight would have to be modified or the counterweight would have to be replaced by a spring 18 connecting an upper projection of the support 1 to the frame 2 (FIG. 4). At rest, the rollers of each head are maintained in their limit position under the effect of the counterweight 17, that is to say that their angle with the horizontal is brought to the maximum (fig. 5).
After having engaged the fabric in the two heads <I> A </I> and <I> A ', </I> the spacing of these is adjusted. Approaching the outer edge of the rollers, the selvedge engages between the fingers of the loading fork 16.
At this time, the rollers leave their limit position to gradually tend towards their horizontal position as the penetration into the fork increases.
If it is assumed that the tissue moving from top to bottom undergoes a deviation to the left (fig. 6), then the left selvedge accentuates its penetration between the branches of the feeding fork 16 of the head A. The loading effect increases in large proportions and accentuates the rotational movement of the support 2 around the axis 3 and the head moves closer to the horizontal. At this moment, the roller 11 comes to rest against the inclined plane formed by the cam 12 and a minimal movement of the roller on the cam exerts a force on the movable arm 8, opposite to the tensile effect of the spring 13 which. has the consequence of moving the roller 6 away from the roller 5.
The edge engaged between these rollers is thus released and the traction effect previously exerted by this head is canceled. However, due to the deviation of the tissue to the left, the right head will have increased its inclination relative to the horizontal and will exert its full tractive power to bring the tissue back to its normal path.
As a result, the left selvedge will return to its normal position and partially free the loading fork. The frame 2 resuming its normal inclination, the roller 11 will leave the cam 12 and, under the action of the spring 13, the roller 6 will resume contact with the fabric and the pressure exerted by the two rollers on it, combined with the traction effect caused by the inclination of the rollers, will make this head able to act effectively in the opposite direction in the event that the fabric initiates a deviation to the right.
In the embodiment of FIG. 4, a similar reaction is obtained by replacing the counterweight by a return spring 18 and the feeding fork by a grooved pulley 19. In fact, assuming as before a deviation of the fabric to the left, the corresponding selvage will penetrate between the cheeks of the pulley and, under its impulse, the pulley will perform a rotational movement around its axis 20. A cable 21, fixed by one of its ends to this axis and by its other end to the frame 2 , will wrap around this axis and cause the frame 2 to pivot around the axis 3, which will result in triggering the operations described above.
When the fabric has returned to its normal position, the pulley 19, under the action of the spring 18, will start to rotate in the opposite direction to the movement of the selvedge and the cable 21 thus released will allow the frame 2 to resume its inclination. normal.
In variants, the mechanism for separating the rollers and / or the means for lifting the frame can be replaced by an electromagnetic or pneumatic device.
