<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Roskopf watch The present invention relates to a Roskopf watch, that is to say in which a timer wheel mounted with greasy friction on the barrel drives the roadway carrying the minute hand, the wheel and the minute pinion being deleted, watch which is characterized by a large average mobile placed outside the center of the movement and controlling a second wheel in the direct center, the large average wheel and the central seconds wheel being arranged side by side at least approximately in the same plane of rotation, so as to reduce the total height of the movement.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a schematic plan view of this embodiment, from the side of the bridges.
Fig. 2 is a section, on an enlarged scale, taken along line A-B-C-D-E of FIG. 1.
The Roskopf watch movement, shown in the drawing, comprises a barrel 1 of which the ratchet 2 engages in the usual way with the crown wheel 3 which is intended to be driven by the winding stem 4. The barrel shaft 5 pivots in the plate 6 and in the barrel and finishing bridge 7. As this is a Roskopf watch, a timer wheel 8 is fitted with greasy friction on the barrel 1. In the particular case, the timer wheel 8 is fitted directly on the drum of the barrel 1 and forms the cover of the barrel 1; it is constituted by a toothed disc mounted idle on the barrel shaft 5 and having near its edge a collar 9 perpendicular to the plane of the wheel 8.
The collar 9 has a slightly conical inner face which matches the wall of corresponding shape of a beat 10 of the barrel drum. Instead of this arrangement, one could also adjust the timer wheel 8 on a barrel integral with the barrel cover, a spring being interposed if necessary to increase the friction.
The timer wheel 8 meshes with the roadway 11, the barrel of which carries the minute hand (not shown). The roadway 11 is mounted loose on a tubular tenon 12 passing through the plate 6 and fixed to an auxiliary bridge 13. The roadway is connected to the hours wheel 14 by means of a timer transmission, not shown.
The barrel 1 drives, by the toothing of its drum, the pinion 15 of the seconds wheel 16 by means of the pinion 17 and the large-medium wheel 18, the pinion 19 and the small-medium wheel 20. The large average mobile 17, 18 is arranged outside

from the center of the movement, while the seconds mobile 15, 16 pivot in the center of the movement. The shaft 21 of the seconds wheel 16 passes through the tubular tenon 12 and carries the seconds hand (not shown). The seconds wheel 16 meshes with the escape pinion 22 integral with the escape wheel 23, which cooperates in a manner not shown with the anchor controlling the balance. It is therefore a direct center second caliber.
The large middle wheel 18 and the central seconds wheel 16 are arranged side by side in the same plane of rotation, which results in a certain reduction in the height of the movement.
Thanks to the combination of the following characters, namely on the one hand the arrangement of the large average wheel 17 and 18 outside the center of the movement and, on the other hand, the side by side arrangement of the large average wheel 18 and with the seconds wheel in the center 16 in the same plane of rotation, we obtain a Roskopf watch movement with a direct center second, the height of which does not exceed or is even less than that of the corresponding movements with lever escapement lifted.
