Automatic machine tool The present invention relates to an automatic machine tool in which the support of the workpiece is driven by a reciprocating movement along its own axis, this movement being combined, on a part of its stroke, with an oscillating movement around said axis, so that the workpiece undergoes a screwing and unscrewing movement, and in which a coupling device operates on the other part of the backstroke. and-comes from said support and drives this support in intermittent rotation around its own axis, in a single direction, so that each complete oscillation of the workpiece starts on an angular position different from the previous position,
machine in which the movement controls, oscillating and rotating intermittently, are hydraulic.
This machine is characterized in that the device for controlling said oscillating movement comprises a distributor arranged so as to follow the support of the workpiece only in its reciprocating movement, this distributor being provided with a blade. fear which cooperates with an adjustable inclination rule fixed to the frame of the machine tool, the body of this distributor being secured to a pilot cylinder limiting the effect of the distributor, the latter controlling the admission of liquid into a cyclinder whose piston is connected to the support of the workpiece to produce, by its movements, said oscillating movement.
This machine can be executed in such a way as to constitute a machine mainly allowing the sharpening of cutting tools with helical cutting edges and the grinding of the threaded shafts.
The drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention constituting a sharpening machine. FIG. 1 is an elevational view of part of the machine including the headstock.
Fig. 2 is a section, on an enlarged scale, of a detail of the machine along the line 11-11 of FIG. 3.
Fig. 3 is a plan view of the doll. Fig. 4 is a side view of the part of the machine shown in FIG. 1.
Fig. 5 is a section taken along the line V-V of FIG. 3, and fig. 6 represents the diagram of the hydraulic device of the machine.
The machine shown comprises a fixed frame 1 on which is mounted a table 2 rolling on balls 3 (FIG. 4) and moving in the plane of FIG. 1. The table 2 carries a headstock 4 in which the spindle 5 rotates taking the place of support for the part to be sharpened, constituted here by a milling cutter 6. The grinding wheel is designated by 7 ( fig. 1). The doll 4 is adjustable by pivoting and by movement on the table 2; the axis of the spindle can, for example, be made to be parallel to that of the grinding wheel.
The spindle 5 is rotatably mounted in the headstock 4 by means of two roller bearings 8. It has notches 9 with which a lock 10 cooperates controlled by a button 11 which enables it to be blocked when fixed or when removing. the tool intended to be sharpened. This lock is biased by a coil spring 12 which maintains it in its rest position shown in FIG. 2. The spindle 5 carries, mounted idle on it, a sleeve 13 toothed at 14, having a flange 13a (fig. 2).
The teeth 14 mesh with a control wheel 15 (FIG. 3), fixed on an axis 16 integral with a pinion 17 controlled by a rack 18; the latter is fixed to the end of the rod 19 of a piston 20 moving in a fixed cylinder 21 under the action of a hydraulic device described below.
Table 2 carries a distributor 22 which moves with it and which is provided with a feeler 23 resting on an inclined rule 24 fixed to the frame 1 of the machine (Figs. 1 and 4). The inclination of this rule is adjustable by means of the chicken 25, its blocking in the desired position is effected by means of a screw 25a; its height is also adjustable by means of a chicken 26 controlling an adjusting cam 27 which can be blocked by means of a chicken 28. The body 29 of the distributor is secured to a pilot cylinder 29a moving relative to its piston 30 integral with a rod 31 fixed to the table 2.
Thanks to the hydraulic device which will be described later, the movements of the blade 23 produce a limited action, the cylinder 29a forming a balancer. During the reciprocating movement of the table 2, the feeler 23 follows the rule 24 and the distributor 22 sends, through lines 32 or 33, pressurized oil into the cylinder 21, thus producing dies. placements of the piston 20 which, through the intermediary of the connection described above, are transmitted to the sleeve 13. The latter is thus animated, during the comings and goings of the louse, of an oscillating movement around its own axis.
The flange 13a carries, articulated on an axis 34, a lever with two arms 35 (fig. 2 and 5), one arm 35a of which, subjected to the action of a return spring 36, carries a latch 37 intended to penetrate. in one of a series of radiating notches 38 made in a disc 39 forced onto a sleeve 40, itself made integral with the pin 5 by a clamp 41. When the latch 37 is engaged in a notch 38, the oscillating movements of the sleeve 13 are transmitted to the pin 5.
The part of the machine described so far operates as follows: when the doll moves to the left in fig. 1, the cutter 6 approaches the grinding wheel 7; if rule 24 occupies, for example, the position shown in phantom in FIG. 1, the feeler 23 is then moved to the top of this figure. The pressurized oil is sent by a pump 42 (FIG. 6), via a pipe 43, to a chamber 44 of the distributor 22. This chamber 44 communicates with a chamber 45 via a pipe 46.
With the blade 23 being moved upwards, the pressurized oil coming from the chamber 44 is conveyed through a duct 47 into the upper chamber 48 of the pilot cylinder 29a located above the fixed piston 30; the oil coming from of the chamber 45 is sent through the pipe 32 in the left part 50 (fig. 6) of the cylinder 21, pushing the piston 20 towards the right of fig. 6. The rack 18 is thus moved up the fia. 3, driving the pinion 17 and the wheel 15, which drives the pinion 14 of the man chon 13.
The latter performs an angular movement which is transmitted, by the latch 37, to the disc 39 integral with the spindle 5: the cutter 6 thus performs a rotary movement combined with its back and forth movement while it is in contact with the grinding wheel 7 and the sharpening zone thus move along a helical line with respect to the milling cutter. Since the axis of the headstock can be adjusted and fixed in an inclined position, relative to the axis of the grinding wheel, it is understood that the propeller described by the sharpening zone can be cylindrical or conical, that is to say that in transverse projection it can appear as a circle or as a spiral.
When the doll 4 returns, the feeler 23 moves downwards in FIG. 4, producing a downward displacement of FIG. 3 of the mesh 18; the cutter 6 then turns in the opposite direction to the previous one.
It should be noted that the sending of oil into the chamber 48 of the cylinder 29a produces an upward displacement of FIG. 6 of the body 29 of the distributor 22, the action of which neutralizes that of the upward movement of the probe 23. The pilot cylinder 29a thus constitutes a balancer limiting the action of the movements of the probe. It is in fact necessary that a given displacement of the probe 23 cor must respond to a given displacement of the piston 20.
The machine shown comprises, or being, a stop 51 (FIG. 4) mounted in an adjustable manner on the frame 1 of the machine and with which the feeler 52 of a distributor 53 located under the table cooperates. This distributor commands, by a hydraulic device described below, a piston 54 (FIGS. 3 and 5) moving in a cylinder 55 carried by the headstock. The rod 56 of the piston 54 is connected to a slide 57 rolling on rollers 58. This slide carries a sole 59 having, over part of its length, a toothed tooth 60 cooperating with a ratchet wheel 61. The sole 59 is mounted on pegs 62 carried by the slide 57 and is applied, by coil springs 63, against the wheel 61.
This is integral with a wheel 64 meshing with a pinion 65 rotatably mounted, by means of rollers 66 (fig. 2) on the sleeve 40 secured to the spindle 5. The pinion 65 comes from a part with a bell 65a carrying, articulated at 67, a pawl 68 cooperating with a toothed tooth 69 of the sleeve 40. The doll 4 also carries, smoothing in a cylindrical guide 70, a pous evening 71 subjected to the action of a coil spring 72, and maintained in the position shown in FIG. 5 by an arm 73a of a lever with two arms 73; this lever is articulated at 74 on the tailstock and its second arm 73b cooperates with a stopper 75 integral with the slide 57.
When, under the action of the stop 51 controlling the feeler 52, the piston 54, and consequently the slide 57, are moved to the left in FIG. 5, the stopper 75 leaves the arm 73b of the lever 73, thus releasing the pusher 71. This moment corresponds to a position of the table in which the cutter is no longer in contact with the grinding wheel; the feeler 23 of the distributor 22 has then left the rule 24, which brings the sleeve 13 into an angular position, not shown, in which the end of the arm 35b of the lever 35 is located opposite the pusher 71.
The pusher 71 once released comes into contact with the arm 35b and moves the latter against the return spring 36, thus releasing the latch 37 from the notch 38. The disc 39 is thus disconnected from the flange 13a and hence the entire control device producing the alternating oscillating movements of the spindle 5. The only connection still existing between the flange 13a and the disc 39 is constituted by a jumper 76 (FIG. 5), subjected to the action of 'a return spring 77, carried by the flange 13a and penetrating into the notches 38.
The action of this jumper does not prevent the disc 39 from turning relative to the flange 13a when the dis that is strongly stressed. When moving the sole 59 to the left in FIG. 5, the toothing 60 of this sole comes into contact with the wheel 61 and rotates the latter in the direction of clockwise. The toothing 60 is toothed in order to prevent, when making contact with the wheel 61, two teeth abut against each other due to a lack of coincidence, which could occur if the toothing 60 was a rack and the wheel 61 a regular toothed pinion.
Pinion 65 is driven counterclockwise and pawl 68 drives toothing 69. On return of sole 59, under the action of the hydraulic device described below, pinion 65 rotates in clockwise without driving the sleeve 40. When driving the toothing 69, the spindle 5 also rotates by an amount proportional to the amplitude of the linear displacement of the slide 57, which displacement is adjustable, as will be described below.
This angular displacement of the spindle 5 is such that the jumper enters another notch 38, the next knife of the cutter 6 then being in the sharpening position. The operations described above can then be repeated.
The hydraulic device for controlling the piston 54 is as follows. The distributor 53 (FIG. 6) comprises a body 78 in which is formed a chamber 79 supplied with pressurized oil supplied by the pump 42 via a conduit. 80. When the feeler 52 is moved downwards by the stopper 51, the pressurized oil is sent, via a line 81, into the right part (fig. 6) of the cylinder 55, which causes the piston to move. 54 and consequently of the slide 57 towards the left of FIGS. 5 and 6.
During this movement, a stop 82 carried by the rod 56 of the piston 54 comes into contact with a pusher 83 of an auxiliary distributor 84, which opens a duct 85 made inside the body 55a of this auxiliary distributor. , thus connecting the two chambers of the cylinder 55, the pressure of which is balanced, which produces the stopping of the piston 54. The stroke of this piston, and consequently the amplitude of the angular displacement of the spindle depends on the position stop 82 along the rod 56. This stop is adjustable and can be blocked by means of a screw 86. Once the udder 54 stopped, the table continues its translational movement until the head 52a of the probe 52 leaves the stop 51.
The feeler 52 is then biased by a spring 87 and turns back to the position shown in FIG. 6, in which the pressurized oil is sent through a line 88 in the left part of the cylinder 55, pushing the piston 54 to the right to bring it into its rest position; this stroke has no effect on the spindle since, as has been seen above, the pawl 68 then jumps on the teeth of the ratchet 65.
