Additional patent to main patent no. 301439. Process for the production of a metal-containing azo dye. It has been found that a new, valuable, metal-containing azo dye is obtained if a mixture of the two monoazo dyes of the formulas is used
EMI0001.0008
lets chromium-releasing agents act in such a way that a chromium-containing azo dye is created which contains one molecule of both starting dyes complexed to a chromium atom.
The new dye forms a brownish-yellow powder, which dissolves in water with a yellow color and dyes wool from neutral to acetic acid baths in yellow tones.
The monoazo dyes used as starting materials can be prepared by coupling 1- (4 'methylphenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone with diazo-tated 2-aminobenzene-1-carboxylic acid-5-sulfonic acid methylamide and by coupling the 1 Phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolones with. diazotized 2-aminobenzene-1-carboxylic acid-4-sulfonic acid methylamide are produced.
The treatment with the chromium-releasing agents takes place, as already mentioned, in such a way that a chromium-containing dye is created which contains a molecule of both starting dyes complexed to an atom of chromium. Accordingly, the chromium plating is expediently carried out with such chromium-releasing agents and by methods which, experience has shown, give complex chromium compounds of this composition.
It is generally advisable to use a chromium-releasing agent containing at least 7 gram atom of chromium on a mixture consisting of a total of 2 moles of monoazo dye and each containing about 1 mole of the two starting dyes and / or to perform the chromating in a weakly acidic to alkaline medium .
Simple chromium salts such as chromium acetate, chromium fluoride or chromium sulfate and complex chromium compounds of aliphatic oxycarboxylic acids or preferably aromatic δ-oxycarboxylic acids are considered as chromium donating agents. The metallization is done with before part in the heat, open or under pressure, z. B. at the boiling point of the reaction mixture cal, optionally in the presence of suitable additives such. B. in the presence of salts of organic acids, bases, organic solvents or other agents promoting the complex formation.
Example: 21.5 parts of the dye from dianotized 2-aminobenzene -1-carboxylic acid- 5-sulfonic acid- methylamide and 1- (4'-methylphenyl) - 3- methyl-5-pyrazolone and 20,
8 parts of the dye from dianotized 2-aminobenzene-1-carboxylic acid-4-sulfonic acid methylamide and 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone are stirred in 1000 parts of water and 190 parts of a solution are added of Ehromsalicylic acid sodium with a chromium content. of 2.61 / 10 heated to reflux for 24 hours. The chromium complex formed is deposited by adding sodium chloride, filtered and dried.
