Safety lock. The present invention relates to a safety lock of the type comprising a-Li minus a cylinder capable of rotating in a casing which is itself cylindrical, this cy- Endre carrying locking plates capable of sliding transversely in the cylindrecontre. the action of springs, the cylinder having an axial vacuum of substantially rectangular section.
This safety lock is characterized by the fact that the end of the cylinder opposite to the key has a transverse groove perpendicular to the long sides of the section of the axial void, the latter having on its two opposite sides, of smaller width, a groove, intended to serve as gaidage to the key, the roof being provided of </ B > way to allow the drive, by means of a transmission member engaged in the end cl-Li cylinder, of the control key bit of the bolt of various types of locks.
The accompanying drawing shows, by by way of example, several embodiments of the lock according to the invention.
Fig. 1 -is a side elevational view of the cylinder.
Fig. 2 is a section on II-II of FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 is an end view of the cylinder. Fig. 4 shows a lock in which the cylinder ee intended to drive a lock. Fig. 5 is a section along V-V of fig. 4.
Fig. 6 shows, in axial section, a lock in which the cylinder is intended to drive a control bit for a bolt embedded in a door.
Fig. 7 represents, in partial section, a lock in which the cylinder is, - tined to to drive a control bit for a bolt embedded in a door, a second cylinder similar to the first being provided to drive the bit also on the inside of the door.
Fig. 8 also shows, in partial section, a lock in which the cylinder is to driving a control key bit of a bolt embedded in a door, a control button allowing to operate said key bit from the inside of the door.
Fig. 9 is a sectional view along IX-IX of qa fig. 8.
Fig. 10 shows, in part, a lock of the type shown in in fig. 6, of the tines to be mounted, in a door of greater thickness.
This safety lock is of the type comprising a 1 cylinder intended to drive a lock and. bearing plates 2 serving as locking members. These pads 2 are. capable of sliding transversely in the cylinder 1 against the action of springs 3. The body of the cylinder has an axial void 4 of substantially rectangular section and its outer wall has as much < B> of annular grooves 5 that the ey1inder carries plates 2. The bottom of each groove 5 has two opposing holes 6 </ B> through which the corresponding plate 2 passes.
Two annular shoulders 7 are provided facing each other on the opposite faces of each groove 5. The springs 3 < / B> which are annular in shape are housed in each groove 5. Each of these springs 3 rests on one of the two shoulders 7 </ B > and is guided in a groove 8 provided on it.
The ends 9 of each, spring 3 are curved and hooked on the same side of each plate in a notch 10 of this one (see fig. 2).
Each plate 2 has a shoulder 11 constituting the stop determining the position of each plate transversely in the cylinder. In addition, each plate has an opening centered 12 in which protrudes a lug 13.
The opening 12 has a shape -corresponding to that of the section of the key 14 and the lug 13 is intended to cause, by -cooperating with one of the ramps 15, provided on the side faces of the key, the withdrawal of the. corresponding plate in the cylinder 1 when the key is engaged & ns it.
It is to note, on the other hand, that for the guidance of the key in the cylinder, ile, axial vacuum of this one has on its two opposite sides of smaller, width a groove 16 in which the key slides, When the key is withdrawn from the cylinder 1, the pads 2, under the action of springs 3, move transversely in the cy- linder 1 and their side opposite to that in which the slot 10 is formed protrudes, either in a groove 30a or in a groove 30b, </ B > housed in the cylindrical casing 30. In this position,
the plates 2 worm rust! therefore -the cylinder 1 in relation to to the casing 30.
On the other hand, when the key is engaged in the cylinder 1, the ramps 15, coming into contact with. the lug 13 of each of the pads 2, causes the withdrawal of these inside the inside of the cylinder 1. This one ci is therefore un- blocked and can be rotated.
The end of the cylinder opposite to the key has a transverse groove 17 perpendicular to the large sides of the substantially rectangular section of the axial void 4.
An annular groove 18 is furthermore contained in the outer wall of the end of the cylinder and the grooves 16 determine in the bottom of the groove 18 two opposing openings 18a.
When the cylinder 1 -is intended to drive a lock 19 (see fig. 4) through the intermediary of a transmission 20 interposed, one end thereof is provided in a flared shape so as to be able to be introduced into the groove 17 and to be retained therein by an annular spring 21 engaged in the groove 18 and, one end of which is hooked into one of the openings 18a (see fig. 5). In this case, the drive in rotation of the bit (not -visible in the drawing) control of the latch bolt 19 is done by the cy- linder 1, through the organ 20.
Fig. 6 shows, in axial section, a lock in which the cylinder 1 is intended to drive, by means of a transmission member 22, a key bit 23 of command! of a bolt not shown and which is supposed to be embedded in a door. This transmission member, 22 consists of a profiled part, one end of which is engaged in the transverse groove 17, provided at the extremity of the cylinder 1 , while Fautre, end of this part 22 is engaged in a housing 24 of the corresponding shape, provided in the key bit 23.
It should be to note that the bit 23 is guided between two flanges 25 and. 26, the latter having a cylindrical projection 27 engaged in a bore 28 of the bit.
The inner end of the cylinder 1 is itself engaged in a bore 29 opposite the bore 28. The cylindrical casing 30 in which the cylinder 1 rotates is made integral with the flange 25. In fact, the end of the casing 30 is engaged in a circular opening (7ular 25a of the flange 25, opening which is concentric to the axis of the cylinder 1. The edge 31 from the end of the envelope, 30,
is folded back so to. make the flange 25 rigidly attached to the casing. 30. The cylinder 1 is itself held in the casing 30 by a washer 32 crimped to the outer end of said envelope. It is to note that this washer 32 has a notch 33 </ B> provided to allow the passage of a lug 34 presented by the key. This lug 34 prevents the key from being introduced into the cylinder or extracted from it in a position that is not correct. Thus, when the key -is removed from the cylinder, the pads 2 are vented. engaged in the grooves 30a and 30b of the casing 30.
A spacer 36 keeps the flanges 25, 26 and the bit 23 in position, thanks to two extensions 35 crossing the flanges 25 -and 26 and which are riveted against each flange.
The spacer 36 itself has a threaded bore 37 intended to receive the fixing screw 38 of the cylinder-breakdown unit, in the part of the lock, in which the bolt (not shown) slides.
The lock shown to in fig. 7 is of the same kind as that represented in in fig. 6. However, it -is provided in addition with a second cylinder the identical to-Li first cylinder 1 and intended to allow the man #work, by a key of the lock from the interior side of the door on which it is mounted.
In this lock, the transmission member comprises two profiled parts 39 and 40, having a rib 50 (see fig. 9) ensuring the centering and guiding, of the transmission member relative to the cylinders, these two parts being connected one to the other axially by a rod 41 allowing them to rotate relative to to </ B > the other along the axis of rotation of the cylinders 1 and the. The bit has an opening 42 of, shape corresponding to that of the section of the transmission organ 39, 40.
The ends of said transmission member 39, 40 are respectively secured in the transverse groove 17 of the cylinders 1 and the .
In addition, the member 39, 40 is capable of sliding in said opening 42. The depth of the latter and the length of each of the two parts 39 and 40 forming the transmission member are chosen so that the engagement & the key in one of the cylinders, for example the cylinder 1, deactivates the torque the bit of the profiled part 40, in connection with the other cylinder 1a, so as to make the rotational engagement of one of the cylinders ii dependent on, that of the 'other cy- lindre.
The lock shown at lig. 8 is of the same kind as that represented in in fig. 7. However, in this. last form of execution, the bit 23, instead of being controlled from the inside of the door by a key, is controlled by a push button # work 43 made integral by: screws 44 of a cylindrical part 45 capable of being entralined in rotation in a tubular casing 49, along the same axis as the eylinder 1. </ B >
A transmission member in two profiled parts 39, 40 allows the bit 23, to be driven either by the cylinder, 1, or by the button 43. One; end of said member 39, 40 is engaged in the transverse groove 17 of the cylinder 1. As in FIG. 7, the two parts 39, 40 are connected one to the other by a rod 41 and can turn relative to each other to the other along the axis of rotation of the cylinder. The member 39, 40 is also capable of sliding in an opening 42 of the key bit 23, opening whose shape substantially corresponds to the section of the transmission unit 39, 40.
However, it should to note that a spring 46, housed in a bore 47 of the part 45, acts on the part 40 to keep the latter engaged in the opening 42 of the bit 23, as long as the key is not engaged in the cylinder 1. In addition, a spring 48 threaded on the rod 41, tends to < / B> hand keep the two parts in contact with each other 3% 40.
The rod 41 is rigidly fixed to the part 40- angularly secured to the operating button by one of its ends while its other end is tinée to enter into contact with the end of the key when engaging the latter in the cylinder 1. When engaging the key in the cylinder , this one pushes against there rod 41, the latter releases part 40 of the opening 49, ' this, which uncouples the key bit 23 of button 43.
Under the action of the spring 410j, the part 39 follows the movement of the rod 41, which causes the coupling of the cylinder 1 to the bit 23 </ B> via part H.
This construction of the transmission member in two parts 39 and 40, held against each other by a spring 48, makes it possible to engage the key in the cylinder 1 and, -to drive the key bit 23 even if it has been stopped in an intermediate position by the hand button #Book 43. In this case, the engagement of the key causes the uncoupling of the key bit and of the operating button 43. The part 39 < / B> then only engages in the opening 42 of the bit, under the action of the spring 48, when the cylinder has reached the angular position occupied by the bit 23.
The two parts 39 and 40 forming the transmission member, on the one hand, between the cylinder 1 -and the bit 23 and, on the other hand, between the operating button 43 and the bit 23, are in the general shape of a rectangular prism on one of the large faces of which a rib 50 < / B> (see fig. 9).
This rib 50 is provided, on the one hand, to ensure the guiding and centering of the transmission member with respect to the cy- linder and, on the one hand, , to allow only one relative angular position between 1 a key and the key bit.
It is to note that depending on the thickness of the door in which one of the locks shown in fig. 6 to 8 must be recessed, the casing 30 can be chosen from different lengths as well as parts 39 and 40.
If the envelope 30 is chosen longer than the cylinder 1 (see fig. 10, the bit 23 is no longer guided by the end of the cylinder 1 engaged in the bore 29, but simply by a cylindrical projection < B> 51, provided on one side of the bit and secured in a bore 52 provided in the flange 25.
As emerges from the foregoing description, a single cylinder 1 is used for all the different lock and bolt assemblies described with regard to fig. 4 to 10 of the drawing. Likewise, the key bit 23 is the same in all the types of locks described above with reference to fig. 6 to 10, in which the cylinder is intended to control a bolt fitted in a door.
