EMI0002.0043
Process for the preparation of a copper-containing disazo dye. It has been found that a valuable, copper-containing disazo dye is obtained by using a disazo dye of the formula
EMI0001.0004
where X denotes a residue which is split off during metallization, allows copper-releasing agents to act in such a way that the copper compound of the o, o'-dioxyazo dye is formed.
The new dye forms. a dark-colored powder which dissolves in water with a bluish red color and dyes cotton in pure, borrowed burgundy shades.
The disazo dye of the above formula can be prepared by alkaline coupling of a diazo-tated 1-aminobenzene-3-carboxylic acid anilide, which has the substituent -0X mentioned in the 6-position, with the monoazo dye of the composition
EMI0001.0022
getting produced. The -0X substituent can be an alkoxy group (e.g.
B. Ät.hoxy or especially methoxy) or oxy group. The monoazo dye of the composition indicated above can be prepared by mixing one mole of cyanuric bromide or, preferably, cyanuric chloride with one mole of 2-amino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid, one mole of the aminoazo dye of the formula
EMI0002.0006
wherein A represents a hydrogen atom or preferably a -02S-aryl radical,
and one mole of aminobenzene is condensed and, if A is an -O2S-aryl radical, it is split off. The first two condensations mentioned can be carried out in any order. The condensations can be carried out according to known methods customary for reactions of cyanuric halides with amines.
It is therefore advisable to increase the reaction temperature and the pH in stages by starting the first condensation, for example, at 0 C and in a more acidic medium, the second at around 30 C and in a slightly weaker acidic medium and a possible third condensation about 80 C and at a pH value that results from a considerable excess of aminobenzene.
The aminoazo dye of the last-mentioned formula can also be prepared in a manner known per se by adding a diazo compound of 8-p-toluylsulfoyloxy-l-aminaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid with 1-amino-2-methoxy-5 -methylbenzene couples and then, if desired, saponifies the arylsulfoyloxy group to form the oxy group.
This saponification of the arylsulfoyloxy group (-0-A), which, as stated above, can advantageously only take place after condensation of the aminoazo dye and the 2-amino-5-ox @ -naphthalene-7-sulfonic acid with the cyanuric halide has taken place , is z. B. carried out by heating in ver dilute alkali metal hydroxide solution.
The coupling of the diazotized amine of the formula
EMI0002.0043
with the monoazo dye, which contains the cyanuric residue, is carried out in an alkaline, for example alkaline carbonate or alkaline earth metal hydroxide, medium.
The treatment with the copper-releasing agents is carried out according to the present method in such a way that the complex copper compound of the o, o'-dioxyazo dye is formed. As copper-releasing agents preferably come from the salts of copper such. B. copper sulfate and ammonia or organic bases such as pyridine, morpholine or ethanolamine available copper tetrammine compounds into consideration. The implementation with the copper-releasing agent is expediently carried out at an elevated temperature, for. B. at about 80 to 90 C.
If the substituent -0X in the starting material is not an oxy group but an alkoxy group, it is advisable to extend the treatment time with the copper-releasing agent to several hours in order to achieve a practically complete conversion into the copper complex of the o, o'- To achieve dioxyazo dye.
Example: 22.8 parts of 2-amino-1-oxybenzene-4-carboxylic acid anilide are diazotized., And the diazo compound is in an alkaline sodium carbonate solution with.
87.4 parts of the condensation product coupled, which is obtained in the following manner. A weakly lacquer acidic solution of the sodium salt of 23.9 parts of 2-amino-5-oxyriaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid is allowed to form a fine suspension of in 30 minutes 18.4 parts of cyanuric chloride in 300 parts of water to flow. The mixture is stirred at 10 ° C. and a solution of 5.3 parts of anhydrous sodium carbonate in 50 parts of water is added dropwise over the course of 2 to 3 hours, the weakly Congo-acidic reaction of the mixture never being allowed to disappear.
One stirs. afterwards for another 1 hour at 10 to 15 C and a weakly alkaline solution of 62 parts of the monoazo dye from the diazotized toluenesulfonic acid ester of 1-amino-8-oxynaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid and 1- Amino-2-ynethoxy-5-methylbenzene, flow in in 20 minutes, the temperature being allowed to rise to 25 to 30 C.
A solution of 4 parts of anhydrous sodium carbonate in 50 parts of water is then added dropwise over a period of several hours, precisely so quickly that the pH of the reaction mixture does not exceed 6.0. The mixture is stirred overnight at 20 to 30 ° C. 20 parts of aminobenzene are then added and the mixture is heated to 90 to 95 ° C. for 3 hours.
For the purpose of splitting off the toluenesulfonic acid residue, the solution of the condensation product is mixed with such an amount of 30% sodium hydroxide solution that the reaction mixture has a sodium hydroxide content of 2%,
heated to 80 to 85 C and held at this temperature for one hour. 30% hydrochloric acid is then added to the solution until a weakly brilliant-yellow-alkaline reaction occurs, and the finished condensation product is salted out and filtered off.
The disazo dye obtained from this condensation product according to the above is salted, filtered off and dissolved in 2000 parts of warm water. The solution is mixed with 60 parts of 25% ammonia and 27 parts of crystallized copper sulfate, dissolved in 100 parts of water, and heated to 80 to 90 ° C. for 1 hour. The copper complex is now salted, filtered and dried.
