Siphon head. The present invention relates to a siphon head, characterized in that it comprises a body which fits on the mouth of a bottle and having an outlet duct, a tubing designed to immerse in a liquid contained in it. the bottle, a valve closed in the rest position and controlling the passage between the pipe and the aforesaid tubing, an operating member causing the opening of the valve when it is moved away from its rest position, and (the means for removably fixing to this head a container containing gas under pressure and for establishing communication between the interior of this container and the bottle.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the siphon head, object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a cut.
Fig. 2 is a section through the line 2-2 of FIG. 1.
The siphon head shown comprises a body 1 screwed at 3 onto the neck of a metal bottle 2, a seal 4 being provided on the mouth to ensure tightness; the body 1 has an outlet duct 5 which is extended by a tube 6 screwed into the body 1. A tubing 7, designed to immerse in a liquid contained in the bottle 2 and extending to near the bottom (not shown) of that here, is screwed into a hollow cylindrical part 8 and communicates with the interior of this part. The part 8 is mounted on the body 1 by means of a threaded part 9 having an axial hole 10 and screwed into the body 1 against a clamping joint 11. The hole 10 communicates with a space 12 provided in the body and into which the outlet duct 5 opens.
The part 9 constitutes a seat for a valve 13 whose head 14 normally closes the orifice of the hole 10, under the combined action of a return spring 15 and the pressure prevailing inside the bottle, as we will see it later. The rod 13 'of the valve 13 passes through a wall of the body 1, a seal 16 being provided at the level (the passage, and comprises at its outer end a portion 17 of reduced diameter which can slide in a hole provided. in a cap 18 screwed onto the body 1; an operating lever 19 is mounted on this part 17, below the cap 18, and passes through a recess 20 provided in the cap. The lever 19 cooperates with the rod of the valve and is held by the valve in the rest position shown.
As for, the outer end of the lever 19 is lowered, the latter bears on the cap 18 and lowers the rod 13 'of the. valve 13, thus causing the opening of the latter and. placing the interior of the room ç 'in communication with the outlet duct. 5.
A cylindrical tubular part 21 is mounted in a cavity of the neck 1. This part is. open to. its lower part and mouth inside the bottle \ _ '. It is provided, at its upper part, with a threaded plug 22 pierced with a hole (not shown) ensuring communication from the inside of the part 21 with the outside. A movable piston 23 is housed in the part 21 and has two cylindrical ends calibrated so as to allow the piston 23 to slide in the part 21, while constituting gas-tight seals, and an intermediate cylindrical part of reduced diameter.
The piston 23 is normally maintained, in the position shown (fig. 1), by a compression spring 24, and closes the lower orifice of the part 21. In this position, the piston 23 ensures the communication between a duct 25 ) and a duct 26 provided in the body 1 (see FIG. 2). The conduit 26 opens inside a pipe 27 mounted on the body 1. This pipe is closed at its upper part (not shown) and opens, at its lower part, into the bottle 2.
A container 28 containing a pressurized gas can be fixed in a removable manner on the body 1 by means of a Net 29. The container 28 is kept closed by a valve 30 of which only part of the stem is visible. . When the container is screwed onto the body 1 by a sufficient quantity, the valve 30 opens and the gas escapes through the conduit 25, the space between the inner wall of the part 21 and the diameter part reduced from the piston 23, the conduit 26 and the tubing 27. A pressure is thus established inside the bottle 2. When this pressure reaches a determined value, the piston 23 is moved upwards, against the action of the opposing spring 24, until its lower part comes to the level of the conduits 25 and 26.
The communication between the interior of the container 28 and the interior of the bottle 2 is thus cut off, and the pressure no longer increases in the bottle. The tubing 27 may terminate above the upper level of the liquid in the bottle 2, or if this liquid is beer, for example, and the gas is carbon dioxide, the tubing 27 may extend to near the bottom. bottom of the bottle, which keeps a certain amount of dissolved carbon dioxide in the beer.
A safety valve 31 provided in the body 1 normally closes a passage allowing the inside of the bottle 2 to communicate with the outside. This valve is adjusted so as to open only if excessive pressure is reached in the bottle, for example in the event that the piston 23 remains seized in its lower position.
When the valve 13 is opened, as we have seen previously, the gas pressure in the bottle forces the liquid to pass through the pipe 7, inside the part 8, the hole 10, the space 12 and the outlet duct 5, and the liquid escapes through the tube 6. When the lever 19 is released, the valve closes under the double action of its spring and the pressure of the liquid and the latter stops escaping.
