Gramophone.

The embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 to 4 comprises a 1 mobile disco in which the disks are placed on frames arranged horizontally one above the other, and a fixed assembly comprising means of translation to selectively bring a disc 2 of the discotheque in its hearing position as it will be described further away, a pick-up 3 for the face top of the disc, a pick-up 4 for the underside of this disc, and control means for bringing the pick-up corresponding to the side of the selected disc into the operating position.
The 1. discotheque, designed to accommodate about thirty discs, has 5 rollers running on vertical 6 rails (fig. 2 and 3 ) and is moved by means of a mechanism to command to hand -or to electric motor. This < / B> mechanism -includes on each side of the disco 1 a lower pair of pulleys 7 and an upper pair of pulleys 8 on which pass metal 9 ribbons for example, intended to raise or lower the disco 1. One of the pulleys 7 is input electrically or to from the hand handwheel 10 via co gears,
- niques 11 and endless screws 12 and communicate that any movement to the pulley by means of toothed wheels 13. </ B> As shown in more detail in fig. 3, the rims of pulleys 7 and 8 are provided with points 14 intended to cooperate with perforations 15 in the ribbons 9.
Hooking means 16 fixed to the bands 9 are provided to retain the discotheque 1 and thus transmit to it the movement of said ribbons 9. To at least partially compensate for the force exerted on the ribbons 9 by the weight (the disco 1, we can see on a- Li minus one of the pulleys 7, 8, of the means to spring tending to recall said pulley when it tends to </ B > rotate under the effect of the traction of the tape Instead of metal bands 9, one could also -use chains, for example, cooperating with toothed wheels.
In addition, the lie-Li of eight lice as shown, we could see only four, with two ribbons, all placed in the middle part of the disco. In a variant, the four vertical rails 6 could be replaced by two rails arranged in such a way that the vertical plane passing through these rails also passes through the center of gravity of the mobile assembly of the frames. with their discs.
A in fig. 3, the discotheque is shown in section comprising frames 17 made of aluminum, steel or plastic and intended to receive the gramophone records. Each 17 chassis is intended to receive disks of two different sizes, for example, 300 and 250 mm of diameter. Each frame is, moreover, conformed in such a way to to support the disc only by its edge not presenting sound grooves and to to see sliding in horizontal guides 18 from the nightclub.
A 19 ' recess is made in the 17 frame to allow the lower pick-up to have access to the underside of the disc. larger dimension. On each side of the frame 17, towards its edge facing the translation mechanism described below, are provided notches 19 of hooking up. Hemispherical projections, not shown, can be formed under the frames so that, at rest, they all have an exact position in which all the notches 19 are superimposed, these projections cooperating with corresponding cavities made in the slots. 18. slides
The edge of the frame facing the translation device also has a projection for controlling the pick-ups. This projection is constituted by a lever 20 pivoted at 20 ', the position of which is determined by the disc against which it rests, the projecting part of this lever serving to actuate a mechanism not shown, adjusting the initial position of the pick-up on the disc.
The translation device for selectively bringing a disc from the discotheque 1. into its hearing position comprises hooking members 21 cooperating with the notches 19 frames 17 intended to slide on rails 17 ', each of these members 21 being fixed to an endless ribbon 22 passing over an idle pulley 23 and a driving pulley 24, respectively 24, the two pulleys 24, 24 'being integral with the same shaft 25.
Fig. 4 shows in section how the driving pulley 24 is connected by a spiral spring 26 to a sleeve 27 driven by an electric motor 28 by the 'intermediate of a worm 29 integral with the shaft 30 and a wheel with helical teeth 31 </ B> integral with the sleeve chon 27. This sleeve 27 can rotate without driving the pulley 24 through an angle of approximately 3500 determined by a pin 32 (fig. 1) integral with pulley 24 and a stop 33 integral with sleeve 27, the spring 26 keeping these two components in contact.
The sleeve 27 is threaded internally to receive a threaded piece 34 sliding on the shaft 25 during the free rotation of the sleeve 27. The threaded piece 34 serves to actuate a push rod 35 to control a mechanism for locking the disc in the hearing position, as it will be described later, of the means for selecting one of the pick-ups 3 and 4 and of the electrical contacts 36 and 37 for relay circuits controlling the motor 28 for bringing the disc to the hearing position and a motor 38 for driving rotating this disk.
The mechanism for locking the disc in the hearing position is shown in detail to in fig. 4 and comprises a lower circular 39 plate, the diameter of which is at most equal to the diameter of the non-etched central part of the disc. This plate 39 is lifted by a lever 40 actuated by a mechanical transmission not shown to from the push rod 35, against a upper plate 41 of the same diameter as plate 39 and which is directly driven by the motor 38. The plates 39 and 41 have annular projections 42, for example made of rubber, to ensure a non-slip drive of the disc 2.
A centering pin 43 of the disc is mounted with a smooth neck in a socket 44 for supporting the plate 39 and is lifted before this plate against the action a spring 45 to pass through the central orifice of the disc. A spring 46 is disposed between the bottom of the casing surrounding the mechanism described and an annular projection 47 integral with the sleeve 44. The springs 45 and 46 serve to remind the che ville 43 and the plate 39 respectively when changing the disc.
The control means for selecting the pick-ups, depending on the side, d, -Li disc that you want to hear, include an angled lever 48, one arm of which is actuated by the push rod 35 </ B > and the other arm acts on a socket 49 for selecting cams 50 and 51 co operating with pick-ups 3 and 4 respectively (fig. 1 and 2). A this effect, a lever (not shown) integral with each cam, is actuated by the sleeve 49, as it will be de- write pl-Lis away.
This sleeve 49 has two grooves to 1800, which can freely pass the ends of the cam levers 50 and 51 when said sleeve 49 slides on a shaft 52, which can also be rotated by means of bevel gears 53 to from the handwheel to hand 10. Instead of this à hand command, an electric motor drive could be provided.
At the end of the execution of a disc, the pick-up actuates electrical contacts 54 controlling the circuit of a relay 55 as will be described later. The movable frame of this 55 re lais is fixed on a rod 56 capable of being moved in three different positions AOJI, this rod 56 carries, moreover, the movable armament of a relay 57, as well as an electric switch 58 controlling the circuit of the motor 28 </ B > disc translation.
A stop member 59 controlling the stopping of the engine 28 is arranged so to to be actuated by a projection 60 </ B> of the 17 frame carrying the disc when it is brought back to the disco. This stop member 59 moves the rod 56 in its movement by means of angled levers, thus actuating the switch 58 and the mobile armatures of relays 55 and 57.
61 designates another switch carried by the steering wheel axle by hand 10 and controlling the engine circuit 38 </ B > drive the disc, so that at each quarter turn of said flywheel, the direction of rotation of this motor is reversed depending on whether one wishes to play the upper or lower face of the disc. Between the bevel gears 53 and the hand handwheel 10 is provided a mechanism to prevent the operator from moving the disk library by means of this flywheel (via the bevel gears 11 and the tangent screw 12 shown in fig. 1)
when one of the 17 frames carrying a disc is operated by the translation device. This mechanism comprises a cylinder 62 carried by an axis 63 and having notches 64 to 9011 from each other.
A stopper 65 intended to cooperate with the notches 64 of the cylinder 62 is carried by the rod 56. When u ' a disc is already engaged by the translation device, the stopper 65 is located in one: notches 64 thus making it possible to operate the steering wheel < B> at hand 10. A locking member 66 is, moreover, provided to prevent the aforesaid cylinder to turn when the disc is in hearing position and the rod 56 is in rest position as we will see later.
The operation of the described gramophone is as follows.
The 17 frames bear, on their side adjoining a hundred to the lateral side of the gramophone, celluloid numbers or cavaliers on which are inscribed, for example, the titles of the corresponding records circulating behind a not shown window provided in said side wall. One could provide any a-Liter tracking device such as, for example, a dial with table of contents connected to the transmission mechanism to ru bans 9. - The selection of the disc that you want to bring into the hearing position is made from from the steering wheel 10 , a full turn of which allows the disco of a value corresponding to the passage of two discs in front of the aforesaid window.
For the passage of a single disc, it will be necessary to make a half-turn of the steering wheel.
When the chosen disk has been brought to the height of the rails 17 ', the operator actuates the rod 56, of f < / B> aço-n à place it in the A hearing position. The switch 58 then closes the circuit of the motor 28 which starts.
The sleeve 27 is rotated by the endless screw 29 engaged with the wheel 31. The pulley 24 associated with the sleeve 27 rotates with the latter, the pin 32 and the stopper 33 remaining in -contact by the spring tension 26 during the translational movement, and the hooking members 21 driven by the tapes 22 pull the frame 17 with its disc on the rails 17 '.
As soon as the chassis 17 has reached at the end of its stroke, the pulley 24 is blocked and the motor 28 continues to drive the sleeve 27 thus tensioning the spring 26 and causing the threaded part 34 to come out, the thread of which is calculated so that for a rotation of approximately 35011 of the sleeve 27, this part traverses its entire axial travel.
The movement of the part 34 causes the displacement of the. rod 35 which performs the following operations: c4) By means of a mechanical transmission, for example a flexible or rigid transmission such as a linkage, the rod 35, during the first four-fifths of its stroke, determines the tilting of the lever 40 under the effect of a force applied in f as indicated -schematically in fig. 1. The lever 40 controls the lifting of the disc 2 and its locking between the plates Ô9 and 41.
This operation is carried out in two successive phases, the first consisting of in first of all overcoming the resistance of the spring 45 by lifting the pin 43 which threads the disc through its central hole, the second consisting of to, drive the sleeve 44 with the pin 43 by compressing the spring 46 and lifting the disc until it comes into contact with the upper plate 41.
b) During the last fifth of its stroke the rod 35 rotates the lever 48 which moves the sleeve 49. The end of one of the levers #associated with the cams < B> 50, 51, is pushed by the sleeve 49 thus rotating the corresponding cam which selects to in turn the pick-up intended to make the side of the chosen disc. The end of the other lever passes freely in one of the grooves made in the sleeve 49.
Before reaching at the end of its stroke, the rod 35 successively closes the contacts 37 determining by the action of the relay 57 stopping the motor 28, and the contacts 36 which close the circuit of the motor 38 driving the disc. Thus, when the disc has reached the desired speed, the chosen pick-up is completely free and its point is placed at the beginning of the grooves of the disc. The upper pick-up rests by gravity on the disc, while the lower pick-up is pressed against the underside of the disc, for example by a spring not shown.
The lever 20 of the frames 17 is arranged in such a way to determine by means of a mechanism of levers not shown the initial position of the pick-up depending on whether the disc is 300 or 250 mm, A the end of the execution of the disc, the terminal groove gives the pick-up a horizontal oscillatory movement in a known manner.
This movement of the pick-up causes the closing of the contacts 54 controlling the relay 55 whose mobile armature drives the rod 56 which actuates the switch 58, so as to stop the engine 38 and start the \ engine 28 in the opposite direction to that in which it worked for disk translation, that is, in the direction intended to bring that disk to the disco.
At the moment when the engine 28 starts up, the spring 26 connecting the pulley 24 to the sleeve 27 is stretched. Running in the opposite direction of the motor 28 therefore has the effect of initially only rotating the sleeve 27 and, consequently, of bringing the threaded part 34 to the inside this sleeve 27, the pou lies 24, 24 'remaining immobile and thus maintaining the frame carrying the disc in the running position.
The reintegration of the threaded part 34 in the sleeve 27, has the effect of returning the rod 35 to its original position, which de- completes the following operations - 10 The angled lever 48 is released and also returns to its original position, thanks to a return spring, not shown, rowing by means of bush 49 and of cam 50 or 51 the pick-up used in the starting position. The shape of the 50 or 51 cams is such that after turning, they arrive in the rest position (pick-up away from the discs) and have inclined profiles which slide the pick-ups to their starting position.
20 The socket 44 is lowered with the plate 39 and the disc that it supports is placed back in the frame 17. This maneuver is carried out without the disc risk of breaking, since it remains centered on the peg 43 until it is placed on the frame 17.
31, The peg 43 is lowered and releases the disc after it is in the frame.
When the sleeve 27 has completed its return stroke, the stopper 33 comes into contact with the pin 32, and the pulley 24 is driven in rotation, as well as the shaft 25, the pulley 24 'with the bands 22 which, at in turn, move the frame 17 in the nightclub. The projection 60 of the frame 17 actuates the stopper 59 when the said frame is again in place in the disco and causes the engine to stop 28, the gramophone being thus at rest and the cycle of operations can begin again.
In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 5 to 7, the discotheque 1 is fixed with respect to to the mobile assembly comprising the disc translation device in the position of hearing, the pick-ups and the, control mechanism of these pielii-ups. This arrangement makes it possible to provide a discotheque containing 'a greater number of discs than in the previous embodiment, for example a hundred, the weight of these discs not playing a role here.
The aforesaid mobile assembly is mounted on a support 67 comprising rollers 68 rolling on vertical rails 69 , this support 67 being retained by a band 70 (or a chain), passing over key pulleys 71 , one of which is dragged by a mechanism to command to </ B > hand or to electric motor.
This mechanism -coin- takes, as in the previous embodiment #, a handwheel with hand 10 for driving a worm 12 in taken with a helical wheel integral with the axis of the driving pulley 71. We could provide vertical rails 69 separated from the disco and attached to the frame of the gramophone, so that the vertigal plane passing through these rails also passes through the center of gravity of the mobile unit. In this way, the defects resulting from the cantilever arrangement could be eliminated.
What further distinguishes this embodiment from the previous one is the device for supporting and driving the disc. This device comprises an upper plate 72 mounted loosely on a pivot carried by an arm 73 integral with the support 67, and a lower plate 74 engine , on which the disc rests.
This large diameter plate 74, offering more seating for the disc than in the previous case, has, in the center, a circular plate 75 whose diameter does not exceed that of the unengraved part of the disc, and which can be lifted so to rest the disc against the upper plate 72 also of large diameter, when you want to play the lower face of the disc with pick-up 3 for example, pick-up 4 working on the upper face-Play of the disc, when the latter rests on the plate 74.
It will be noted that the motors 28 and 38 for translating and driving the disc are placed below the plane in which the disc is located in the position of. 'hearing.
The plate 74, as shown in section in FIG. 7, is connected by a movable key 76 to a hollow shaft 77 driven by the motor 38 by means of a worm 78 and a helical wheel 79 also keyed to the shaft 77, < / B> slidingly.
A lever 80, controlled by a selector element 81 -similar to that used for the control of the pick-ups in the embodiment previous, comes into action when it is desired to play the upper face of the say resting on the plate 74 and that small movements are necessary to lift said plate in order to take the say that still in the frame and to lift the centering pin 82 intended to thread the disc through its central hole.
A lever 83, also controlled-by the selection-element 81, performs greater movements and is used to lift, from a on the one hand, the plate 75 to apply the disc against the upper plate 72 when we want to play the underside of this saying, and, on the other hand, the centering pin 82 to thread the -disc. In both flushes, it is the peg 82 which is raised first to keep the disc centered at from the moment it is lifted from its frame until the moment it is put back in this, chassis.
The operation of the other parts of this gramophone is the same as that of the previous embodiment. As indicated above, the choice of discs could be controlled by an electric motor. A second electric motor would do the other operations, that is to say translating the selected frames, locking and rotating the discs. In this case, it would be necessary to interpose between the second motor and the transmission members which it actuates, to friction couplings controlled automatically for example.
