Process for the production of a new dye. The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a new dye which is characterized in that oxal-5,5'-dibenzoylamino-1,7-dianthra- ehinonyltimide is reduced with a metal in the presence of an amine derived from a secondary amine and treated with a sulfating agent to form the leucosulfuric acid ester derivative.
The new dye is a yellow powder that dissolves in water to form a yellow solution.
As amides which are suitable for carrying out the reaction, for example the amides derived from carboxylic acids, such as dimethylformamide, diethylformamide, dimethyiacetamicl and tetramethylurea, and the amides derived from sulfonic acids, such as N, N-diethyl-p-toluenesulfonamide , to be named.
Example: A suspension of 7.4 parts of oxal-5, 5'-dibenzoylamino-1,1'-dianthraquinonylamide (which is obtained by the action of 1 mol of oxalyl chloride to 2 mol. 1-amino-5 -benzovlamino- anthraquinone is formed), 4 parts zinc, 1.
Part of sodium 2-naphthalenesulfonate and 1 part of methyltriethylamnonium chloride in 75 parts of dimethylformamide are stirred for 1 hour at 70.degree. C. in an inert atmosphere and then cooled to 00.degree.
The poor, sin-red solution is then mixed with 60 parts of a suspension of dimethylformamide sulfur trioxide in dimethylformamide (which contains 40% sulfur trioxide)
offset. The resulting greenish-light yellow solution is stirred for 30 minutes at 00 ° C. and then added to 1,000 parts of an aqueous 10% strength sodium carbonate solution.
The zinc residues are removed and the combined filtrates are diluted to 3 liters, whereupon the yellow sodium salt of the leucosulfuric acid ester is precipitated from the filtrates by adding sodium chloride. The product is filtered off and washed with a 10% sodium carbonate solution saturated with normal salt.
The product is mixed with an alkali and an agglutinating agent and dried to give a yellow powder. If the product is applied to fabrics using the usual dyeing, padding and printing processes, real greenish-yellow colorations are obtained.
