Additional patent to the main patent No. 266102. Process for the production of a new dye. The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a new dye, which is characterized in that terephthal-5,5'-dibenzoy1amino-1,1'-dianthraquinonylamide in the presence of an organic amide derived from a secondary amine with a -, I # is completely reduced and treated with a sulfating agent to form the leuco-sulfuric acid ester derivative.
The new dye is a yellow-brown powder that dissolves in water to form a yellow solution. Amides which are suitable for carrying out the reaction can be, for example, the amides derived from carboxylic acids, such as dimethylformamide, ethylformamide, dimethylacetamide and tetraethylurea, and the amides derived from sulfonic acids, such as N,
N-diethyl-p-toluenesulfonamide.
Example: A suspension of 4 parts of zinc dust and 1 part of tetraethylammonium iodide in 100 parts of dimethylformamide is stirred at 20 ° C. in a vessel through which a stream of nitrogen is passed. 8.14 parts of terephthalic 5,5'-dibenzoylamino-1,1'-dianthraquinone amide are added in the course of 40 minutes. The mixture is stirred at 20 ° C. for 20 hours and then cooled to 0 ° C. The product obtained by reacting 40 parts of dimethylformamide and 21 parts of methylchlorosulfonate is then added.
The mixture is stirred for 30 minutes at 0 C, whereupon the greenish yellow reaction product is introduced into a solution consisting of 30 parts of sodium carbonate and 600 parts of water. The leuco-sulfuric acid ester is isolated by filtering off the zinc residues,
the filtrate is distilled in vacuo to remove the dimethylformamide and the ester is salted out. The product is dissolved in 400 parts of a 1% strength aqueous sodium carbonate solution and reprecipitated by adding 17 parts of sodium chloride.
The purified leucosulfuric acid ester, which separates out in the form of a brown-yellow precipitate, is filtered off and can be converted into a dry powder by mixing with alkali and an agglutinating agent and drying.
