Cet ouvre-boîte est caractérisé par une lige métallique cylindrique présentant une étroite fraisure faite dans un plan parallèle à l'axe de la tige et déporté par rapport au- (lit axe, de manière à former avec la surface de celle-ci un angle aigu et un angle obtus, des moyens étant prévus pour pouvoir faire pivoter la tige sur elle-même.

Le mode d'emploi de cet ouvre-boîte est le suivant: On enfile la languette de la boîte dans la fraisure, de manière à ce qu'elle se plie autour de l'angle aigu dès que l'on pivote la tige. On peut alors ouvrir la boîte en con tinuant la rotation de la tige. Quand le cou vercle de la. boîte est presque complètement détaché, on tourne la tige en sens inverse sur une fraction de tour, ce qui suffit pour dégager le bout plié de la languette, qui sort de lui-même de la fraisure sous l'effet de ressort du couvercle enroulé autour de la tige.
On peut alors retirer la tige par un dé placement latéral.
