A l'intérieur ,
La 1 est une vue de face du dispositif, l'une des parois de l'appareil de prise de vues étant retirée, le dispositif étant. en position verrouillée et l'appareil de prise. .de vues à l'arrêt;
La fis. 2 est une vue de face du dispo- sitif semblable à. celle de la. fis. 1, mais le dispositif étant en position d'arrêt automa- tique après un "fondu fermé"-, La, fis. 3 est une vue de détail montrant l'enfraînement -des pales;
La fis. 4 est uti- vue partielle de côté 111011trant la coniinalide de l'arbre à. camés; La fis. 5 est une vue de face du dispositif de commalide de l'ouverture et de la. ferme ture des pales. et de l'entraînement de l'obtu- rateur, certains organes étant retirés pour plus de clarté;
Une came 36 (fig.
Une came 39 (fig.
Device for controlling the shutter with variable aperture of a cinematographic camera. There are various types of shutters with or variable opening for cinematographic camera. Some are made up of:
two blades each integral with a rotating body. These .derniers are constituted by @douilles sliding one on the other and one of which has a helical groove, while the other has a praliqu6e groove along a generatrix. Inside ,
of these sleeves slides an axis which carries a lug passing through the grooves of each of the sleeves.
This pin therefore constitutes a mechanical connecting member of the two bushings between them and an -axial displacement of this connecting member causes a relative angular displacement between the blade gods,
displacement which determines the shutter opening. The helical lumen is provided so as to control an angular displacement of the blades relative to each other corresponding approximately to the angle, at the top of the sector represented by a page, so as to allow an opening and a,
complete closure of the shutter. These variable aperture shutters are very practical and allow very beautiful "fades", however their automatic control is not very easy.
In particular, it is difficult to automatically stop the film advancement mechanism and the shutter exactly in the desired position, ie the lens being closed.
However, i1 * # t essential that this condition be fulfilled, because, after "a closed fade", the operator must in general chainger of place to chain a new scene. In order to avoid wasting film, it is necessary to stop the film as soon as the shutter is fully closed.
Finally, to allow a "crossfade" with superposition, we have to open the shutter blades during the shutdown @of the camera -shot,, e +, without discovering the 'goal.
In other words, it is necessary that the stop position of the shutter after a "closed fade" is well defined and corresponds to the position for which with open blades closes the objective, of the camera. of views.
The present invention relates to a device -control of the shutter with variable aperture of a cinematographic camera, shutter comprising both blades carried by rotating -coaxial supports, the relative movements of which are controlled. by a mechanical connecting member whose axial movements determine the relative angular position of the blades, these axial movements being controlled by a rotary cam for the.
command of a complete closing of the shutter blades. This control device is carajetérisé by a locking device placed between a member driven d @ esmodromiquement by the shutter at a speed of the same order of magnitude as that of the latter and a control cam of the rotating locking. ulie relatively low speed compared to, that of the shutter, this device comprising. placed on the way to a fixed stop: on said.
member driven desmodromically by the shutter, a locking member whose movement is controlled by said control cam, the locking position corresponding to a determined position of the shutter, means being provided to move the member - for locking the stop path without modifying the angular position of the shutter and for resetting the locking device when the camera is stopped.
The accompanying drawing represents, diagrammatically and by way of example, a shape; execution of the control device according to the invention, applied to a camera for amateurs.
1 is a front view of the device, one of the walls of the camera being removed, the device being. in the locked position and the socket. .of views at a standstill;
The fis. 2 is a front view of the device similar to. that of the. done. 1, but the device being in the automatic stop position after a "fade-in" -, La, fis. 3 is a detail view showing the drive -of the blades;
The fis. 4 is used partial side view 111011trant coniinalide from tree to. cameos; The fis. 5 is a front view of the commalid device of the opening and the. blade closing. and the shutter drive, with some parts removed for clarity;
The fis. 6 is a partial view of an ein-yage. between the drive mechanism. film and barrel.
A spring motor, housed in a barrel 1, drives: the film advancement mechanism. (not shown),. the variable shutter, an eaane shaft 2 carrying a control cam 3 (fi, -. 4 and 5) of the device for opening and closing the blades 4 and 4a of, the variable shutter.
This cam 3 rotates at a relatively slow speed relative to the shutter l nel. One of the ends of the mainspring is attached to a fixed shaft 5, the title is attached to the barrel 1. The latter carries, on its periphery, a ring gear 6 engaged with a train of gears 7 , 8, 9.
The. integral gears 7 and 8 are mounted idle on an axis 70. while the gear 9 is pivoted on an oscillating support 11 integral with the axis 10.
The oscillating support carries a maneuvering member 12 making it possible to reel 1, gear 9 engaged with a gear train. 13, 14, 15 against the action of a res sort 16. The gear 15 is integral with the camshaft 2.
This. the last carries several cams necessary for controlling the opening shutter. variable. The organs necessary for this order are shown in the fis. 1, 2, 4 and 5.
Shaft 2 carries the control cam 3 for the automatic opening and closing of the variable shutter blades (fis. 3 to 5).
1? N lever 21 (fis. 5), pivoted at 22 on a fast fixed part, carries at one of its ends a finger 21a sliding on the profile of the cam, 3. The other end of this lever acts coaxial- ment on an axis 23, the axial displacements of which control the relative angular displacements (the blades 4 and 4a. One of the blades is fixed on a rotating body constituted by a sleeve 24 (fis. 3) having a helical slot 25 .
while the other is mounted on a socket 24a having a slot 25a formed along a generatrix. A lug 26, integral with the axis 23, passes through the two slots 25 and 25a and mechanically connects the two bushings to each other. The socket 24 carries a helical wheel 27 in prie with a second helical wheel 27a, integral,
an axis 28 mechanically connected by a gear train 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35 and 35a (FIG. 5) to the crown 6 of the barrel.
The shaft 2 carries, on the other hand, a locking cam 17 having a circular profile cut by a notch 18 (fig. 1, 2 and 4). A finger 19, integral with the support 11, cooperates with this cam and is held in contact with its profile by the spring 16.
When the finger 19 is in the notch 18, the gears 9 and 13 are out of engagement. On the other hand, -the latter are kept in; grip; as long as the, @donigt 19 is on the circular part @of the cam 17. The notch 18 therefore determines the stop position of the shaft at - cams 2.
A cam 36 (fig. 1 and 2), controlled by the automatic stop of the shutter and of the advance mechanism of the. film after closing .complete meture, dies, palesi of the shutter, is also mounted on the shaft 2. This shaft 2 rotates at a relatively slow speed compared to that of the shutter.
This -came 36 has a progressive spiral profile on which slides a beak 51 formed by the end of a lever 37. This lever -is pushed during the closing of the blades by the cam 36 against the action of a res comes out 38.
As soon as the blades are closed, the end @du lever 37 falls .on the start of the spiral (fig. 2). This @du lever 37 causes the shutter to stop in the closed position by means of a device described below.
A cam 39 (fig. 5), mounted on the shaft 2, controls the start-up of a device for locating the start of the closing movement of the shutter blades.
The automatic stop device comprises (Fig. 1. And 2) a stop member 40 fixed on a plate 42 integral with the axis 28 driven, des- modromically by the shutter at the same speed as the latter.
A locking member, consisting of a lever 41, pivoted at 43 .on a fixed part, has a part 41a -destined to be placed on the stop-path 40 (FIG. 2).
While the apparatus is in operation, from view to view, the locking member 41 is held by a lock: in the position shown in FIG. 1 against the action of a spring 41b.
This lock is constituted by a lever 44 with the end of which a bearing face 45, provided on one of the ends of the lever 41, engages. A stop 46 determines the locking position of lever 44.
The latter is pivoted on an axis 47 integral with a fixed part and carries on its free end an oscillating lever 48. The latter. is maintained by a spring 49 in contact with a pin 50 -solidaire, the lock 44.
lever 37, pivoted on the axis 47, has a portion 37a for. act on one of the beaks of the oscillating lever 48 when the beak 51 falls on the start of the spiral of the cam 36.
A spring 52, , one of which ends is attached to the lever 37 and the other to the latch 44, tends to hold the latter against its stop 46. A stop 53, integral with a part. fixed, limits the movement of the swing lever 48.
The operation of this device is as follows: The starting of the .l'apparatus, of shooting is controlled by the withdrawal, from the stop path 40, of a part 54 provided on a starting and stopping lever M pi voted on axis 43 (fig. 1 and 2).
The stop 40 no longer being retained, the spring motor drags the film advancement mechanism as well as the shutter. When the operator wishes to perform a "fade", he exerts a thrust on the actuator 12.
This thrust releases the finger 19 from the notch 18 and releases the camshaft. At the same time, the gears 9 and 13 are brought into engagement, so that the spring motor drives the camshaft 2. The blade 3 begins to rotate counterclockwise from the, position shown in. fig. 5.
The finger 21a shows on the profile of this cam 3, the lever 21 oscillates around the axis 22 and its end pushes the axis 23 against the action of a spring 55. The axial displacement of this shaft causes displacement angular relative to the two blades 4 and 4a, in the direction of the shutter closing. After a 180 rotation of the camshaft, the finger 21a reaches the top of the cam 3 and the shutter is fully closed.
At this moment, the cam 36 having also made a rotation of 180, the nose 51 falls on the start of its spiral profile. During its fall, the lever 37 pivots on its axis 47 and that part 37a acts on the: arm 48a of the oscillating lever 48. The latter drives the latch 44 by means of its pin 50.
The latch 44 slides under the bearing face 45 (read lever 41, so that the latter rocks under the influence of its spring 41b until the bottom of a recess 56 is in contact with the end of latch 44. As the action of lever 37 continues, lever 48 slides over fixed stop 53 and oscillates. This movement strains spring 49 and disengages end 48a of part 37a of lever. B> 37. The respective positions of these levers are those shown in fig. 2.
In this position, the part 41a of the locking organ 41 is on the way to the stop 40, which is retained during its first passage. This stop is placed on the plate, in an angular position such that when it is in contact with the part 41a, the blade 4a is in the objective closed position. The starting lever was held either manually by the operator, or by a device provided for this purpose, in the "l @ liamhe" position (fig. 2).
The blades are now closed, the automatic stop having been effected, the operator releases the lever M. Under the influence of a res out 57, the latter returns. In the. position., Stop "(fig. 1). In this movement, the. part 54 pushes back the part 41a and comes to replace the latter. The bearing faces of these parts, intended to retain the stop 40, are located on the same circle centered on axis 43.
It follows that the stop 40 can not modify its angular position and that the obturator: ura.teur and all the film advancement mechanism remain in position.
When the lever M is in the "Off" position, the lever 41. is again in the. position shown at a fi * 1. The latch 44 returns to its stop 46 under the influence of the spring 52, while the arm, 48a of the oscillating lever 48 fits into a recess 59 of the lever 37. The latter remains in the position shown in FIG. 2 and is not returned by the cam to the position shown in FIG. 1 that during a new rotation of 180 of the camshaft 2, rotation during which the cam 3 controls the opening of the blades.
After returning the lever .11 to the "Off" position, the device can. again be turned on. The camshaft 2 is still mechanically connected to the spring motor, the latter is set in rotation at the same time as the shutter, and it controls the opening of the blades of the latter, As soon as the latter are open, the finger 19 falls from the year the en- coehe 18,
locks the camshaft and disengages gears 9 and 13 from each other. Thus, the variable shutter control device is disengaged and held in position, while the film and shutter drive mechanism remain coupled to the motor.
Finally, a coupling 60 (FIG. 4) with a single driving direction is interposed between the gears 14 and 1-3. One of the parts of this coupling is integral with the meshing 14 which is mounted idle on a pin 61 carrying the gear 13 rigidly fixed to it. The other part of this coupling slides on the axis 61 and is rotated by the latter. The two parts of the coupling are applied against each other: by a spring 62.
A maneuver button 63 allows manual dragging of the camshaft 2. Thus, after one. “fade closed”, it is possible, by operating button 63, to bring the camshaft to its locked position. This rotation of the camshaft controls, opens,
rture of the blades, of the shutter and is carried out thanks to the 60 coupling of which; the &, ntures slide one over the other, so that the ba rillet 1 is not driven.
One of; : two blades, with the shutter remaining in the shutter position, no ray can reach the film during this operation.
This gives the operator the option of restarting the camera with an open shutter, even after a "fade out".
This coupling 60 also allows the re-assembly of the spring motor by driving the barrel in the opposite direction, without modifying the position of the camshaft. This is necessary in order to allow the operator to reassemble the motor after a "fade out", before taking the next scene.
The locating device -the start of a "fade .cc closure", actuated by the cam 39 (fig. 5), comprises a disc 66 pivoted on an axis 67. (The disc is driven by a gear train 68 , 69, 70, 71. The latter gear is carried by a pivoted lever 73, on the axis 74 of rotation of the 69 and 70.
One of the ends of this lever is supported on the cam 39 by a spring 75. Depending on the position of the lever 73, the gear 71 is engaged: or not with a pinion 76 driven by the gear 32 via a gear train 77, 78.
A torsion spring (not shown), mounted on the shaft 67, tends to rotate the latter counterclockwise and to maintain a lug 79 of the disc 66 in engagement with a fixed stop 80.
The toothed wheel 35a (fig. 5 and 6) is mounted loose on an axis 81 and carries a pawl 82 subjected to the action of a spring tending to keep it engaged with the teeth of a ratchet wheel 83 The latter is integral with one of the parts of a coupling 84, the other part of which is driven by the axis 81 and slides on the latter.
A lever 85 makes it possible to release the two parts of the coupling 84 from one another. The end of the axis 81. is designed to receive a crank, the winding 86.
A wheel 35, integral with the axis 81, .is in engagement with the ring gear 6 and a pinion 87. The latter is integral .d'une ratchet wheel 88. A movable stop 89, controlled by the lever 85, is intended to engage, in the toothing of the wheel 88 when the coupling 84 is disengaged, so that the ba.rffiet cannot turn stale.
The coupling 84 and the movable stop therefore make it possible to isolate the barrel from the film advancement and shutter drive mechanism.
As soon as, after having performed a "fade out" and having allowed the starting lever to return to the "Off" position, as described above, the operator can, by placing the: lever tl ' I in the on position (fig. 2) so as to release part 54:
from the path .â, stop 40, completely free the latter. Then, using a crank placed on an axis 90 (FIG. 5) integral with the gear 32, advance or retract the film at will. Since the mechanism is isolated from the barrel, the latter is not driven and therefore cannot drive the camshaft 2.
In the locked position of the camshaft, the end of the lever 73 is almost falling into the recess of the cam 39. From the first rotational movement @of the camshaft, that is to say -Say from the start of closing the blades:
the shutter, the lever 73 switches and causes the engagement -de 71 with 76 and the drive of the disc 66 against the action of its return spring. During automatic shutdown, when the shutter pafles are closed; the lug 79 has described a certain arc of a circle and moved away from its stop 80.
If, therefore, the operator wants to effect a "crossfade" with overlap, he can bring the film back to positron: from the start of closing: of the blades by maneuvering the axis 90 so as to bring the lug 79 back on its , stop: 80.
During this operation, the barrel not being driven, the camshaft remains in its position shown in. fig. 2, and the shutter blades remain closed. The contact of the lug 79 with the stop:
80 therefore automatically deter mine. position the film had at the start of the "fade" operation. As the control of the closing of the blades takes place during a rotation of 180 of the camshaft, it is obviously necessary that the circular part 39ca of the cam 39 which allows the meshing of the gears. 71. and 76, under the action of spring 75, has an angular donb eur of at least 180.
