Le mécanisme obturateur décrit comprend un diaphragme en forme de disque16 (fig. 1). Ce diaphragme est monté fou sur un axe fixe 70, constitué par exemple par un élément an nulaire, solidaire du support26 et concentri queà l'arbre22;
Le mécanisme d'interverrouillage ou d'en clenchement assurant le retour automatique du bras 140 vers l'intérieur et la rotation da bras de verrouillage130 de l'obturateur dans le sens inverse -des aiguilles d'une montre afin de libérer la saillie 40 après une exposition de demi-pose comprend un bras 154 articulé sur une extrémité de la détente 112 par un axe156; un ressort158 rappelle le bras 154 dans le sens inverse des aiguilles d'une montre;
Shutter mechanism for photographic camera. The present invention relates to a shutter mechanism for a graphic camera.
The shutter mechanism which is the object of the present invention is characterized in that it comprises means for retaining a shutter to pivoting in a rest position where it covers the lens of the camera, means for applying a shock to the shutter so as to disengage it from said retaining means and to give it a rotary movement, at least one de return stop placed in the path of a stopper integral with the shutter in order to engage said stopper at a point on the path distant from the position occupied by said stop when the shutter is in its rest position, at least one of said two members coming into engagement being elastic so that said engagement causes the shutter to return to its resting position,
in that the stopper and the means for applying a shock are mounted so as to engage the shutter on only a small part of its total path, the remainder of the path of the shutter being sensibly free and carried out at a substantially constant speed, in that the retaining means are capable of re-engaging with and of retaining the shutter on its return to its rest position, all so that the total travel of this shutter determines the duration during which the objective is discovered by it. The appended drawing represents, to by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. I is a somewhat schematic elevational view, some parts sectioned and others broken away, of the shutter mechanism.
Fig. 2 is a schematic elevation of a variant of this mechanism comprising a single control providing a correlative adjustment of the shutter and the diaphragm.
The shutter mechanism shown at the fing. 1 comprises a rotary shutter (or shutter blade) 12, the counterweight 14 of the shutter, a diaphragm of the disk 16 saw type in part and other associated organs seen as they would appear to an observer placed in front of the apparatus; the parts of the case of the apparatus are torn off except with the exception of a small fragment 18 of the case, in order to better reveal the parts. For ease of explanation, we can, in certain cases, de- sign the assembly consisting of the shutter 12, the counterweight 14, the hub 20 and the support shaft 22 by the expression obturator. All these organs are integral with each other and turn as a unit.
The directions of rotation of the shutter and of the other associated members as well as the positions of the members correspond to what an observer would see placed in the position indicated above (in front of the apparatus). The shaft 22 is journaled at its ends in bearings 24 which can be constituted by two rigid supports, only one of which, the support 26, is shown. Each of these supports between which the shutter is placed and on which it can turn thanks to these bearings, could also be provided in the form of a rib or part of the housing. the device itself. The shutter is shown in the closed position, the shutter 12 being disposed so to shut off the light beam passing through through the opening 28 </ B > of the objective.
This closed position of the shutter is defined by a limit stop comprising a magnet 30 against which bears a magnetic block 32 which constitutes an end called a counterweight 14 This magnet, preferably, is of horseshoe, as shown, and is bonded to a block of a suitable elastic material 34 (eg. rubber or in substance, polyvinyl-butyral); this block 34 is, in in turn, linked to a part 36, projecting forwardly from an angular plate also comprising a side part 36a on which the magnet can slide.
A finger 38, preferably of non-magnetic material, extends forward to from the plate 36; this finger is located between the poles of the magnet 30 and its diameter is less than than the distance between the poles. The limit stop device thus designed yields under - the impact of the magnetic block 32. The magnet 30 of this limit stop, cooperating with the magnetic block 32 makes it possible to avoid the rebound of the shutter, after the establishment of contact between the block 32 and the magnet 30, thanks to the magnetic force of attraction exerted on the block by this magnet 30. It can be seen that these members thus keep the shutter in position closed, when not in use.
The movement of the sliding magnet 30 towards the block 32 is limited by the finger 38.
A projection 40 of the counterweight constitutes a part of the shutter capable of receiving an impulse communicating to the shutter a movement of rotation in the direction of clockwise, the right surface 40a the projection being more specially provided for this effect. The projection -10 serves, moreover, to to facilitate the determination of the direction and the extent of the rotation of the shutter and this in the following manner.
The amplitude of the rotation of the shutter in the clockwise direction when it is actuated for this displacement by means described more below, is limited by the coming into contact the protrusion -10 with the spring 42 or rebound spring; this spring is mounted so to intercept the trajectory of the surface 4.Ob of the projection 40, during its circular displacement . The reversing or return device -12 can be made of any suitable elastic material having received the desired configuration, this device preferably being constituted by an elastic element made of steel, of phosphor bronze or of an equivalent material.
This spring may be of flat shape, as has been shown; it can also have any other shape or thickness suitable for limiting the rotation of the shutter in the direction of clockwise and for causing the reversal of the direction of rotation of the shutter. It can therefore be seen that the extent of the circular displacement of the shutter, in the direction of clockwise, to, by firing from the closed position shown in FIG. 1, is determined by the length of the arc initially separating the projection or the tab 40 of the spring 42, by the mass and speed of the rotating shutter and by the deformation characteristics of the spring 42 under the load caused by the impact of the tab 40.
It is. It is obvious, on the other hand, that the speed of rotation of the shutter during a single exposure cycle, comprising successively a clockwise rotation and a counterclockwise rotation, is determined substantially by the factors such as the intensity and the conditions of application of the force applied to the leg 40, to trigger its rotation in the direction of the needles of a watch, by the mass of Fobta - rator, by the deformation of the spring 42 and by the friction existing between the bearing surfaces 22 and 24.
As shown in fig. 1, the rebound spring 42 can, for example, be mounted on an annular support 44 integral with a mo.y eu 48 or connected to this hub by elements 46, the hub being mounted to be able to rotate on a fixed axis 50. The axis 50 is preferably constituted by an annular element rigidly fixed to the supports 26 or forming an integral part of these last ports, the axis 50 and the shaft 22 being concentrated and the shaft 22 being able to rotate freely in the fixed axis 50.
It is evident from fig. 1, that the rotation of the bracket 44 of the comes out in a clockwise direction, in the purpose of modifying the position of the return spring 42 increases the length of the arc that the tab 40 must travel before and after contact with the return spring, thus increasing the installation time. On the appropriate parts of its surface, for example on its inner surface, as shown, the spring support 44 is provided with recesses 52, distributed in a established manner in in advance and which can be triggered and engaged by means of suitable stopping devices such (It is the one shown at 54, which allows to bring the return spring 42 to various directions given and 1) 7 maintain.
In fig. I., the position of the members shown corresponds a-Li adjustment of the return spring 42 to the minimum exposure time, this adjustment being that for which the tab 40 will have a minimum arc to, to travel until return spring, the shutter 12 having just ; time to discover the opening 28 before its direction of rotation is reversed. For this position of the members, it will be noted that the expansion device 54 engages in the recess 592a, thus ensuring a positive adjustment of these members.
The limit stops 56 and 58, mounted fixed on parts of the housing not shown, are suitably arranged to intercept a 60 finger extending from the support 44 of the spring and to delimit a maximum angle of rotation respectively in the opposite direction and in the direction of the needles of a watch for the support 44, these limits of the rotation being those which correspond respectively maximum and minimum exposure time.
Means are provided for allowing the support 44 of the return spring to be turned by hand and thus to vary the duration of the installation, as described above, these means being respectively constituted by a toothing 62 of the peripheral parts of the support 44, a pinion 64 meshing with the toothing 62 and a control button 66 secured to the pinion 64 by a shaft 68 the length of which is such that it passes through the housing of the device and allows manual rotation of the button from the outside.
The shutter mechanism described comprises a disc-shaped diaphragm  16  (fig.  1).  This diaphragm is mounted idle on a fixed axis  70,  constituted for example by an annular element, integral with the support  26  and concentric  to  the shaft  22;
it is understood that the diaphragm includes a suitable hub, not shown, which allows it to be mounted on the axis 70. To rotate the diaphragm and to center any of the openings of the diaphragm. This opposite the opening 28 of the lens, suitable means are provided including, for example, a peripheral toothing 72 of the diaphragm 16, a pinion 74 in mesh with the teeth 72 and a control knob 76 fixed to the pinion 74 by a shaft 78 long enough to pass through the housing. The smallest of the planned open-Lires is shown at 80, opposite the opening 28 of the objective.
The means provided for maintaining any one of the apertures of the diaphragm 16 in the exposure position comprise an annular rim 82 of the diaphragm, in which rim are formed. notches 84 suitably distributed; these notches engage freely with a suitable stopper 86. Suitable limit stops may be provided to define the limits of the rotation of the diaphragm 16; we have shown a limit stop 88 mounted on the housing or the frame of the device, not shown and a finger 89 of the diaphragm is shown in contact with this stop, which corresponds to the end of the travel of the diaphragm, in an anti-clockwise direction.
Although they have not been represented, it is understood that the mechanism described may be associated with appropriate indicator means making it possible to ensure the connection between the adjustment of the exposure time and that of the 'opening, depending on the lighting.
Fig. 1 shows, in elevation, an automatic cocking mechanism to actuate the rotation of the shutter, the position of the organs corresponding to roughly to </ B> the one that occurs when the shutter is about to start a given exposure cycle. The part of this mechanism which comes into direct contact with the shutter is constituted here by an articulated arm 90 called the impulse arm, biased in the anti-clockwise direction by a spring. tra # - tion 92 fixed, on the one hand, to the arm and, on the other hand, to the frame of the device.
One end of the impulse arm 90 is kept in contact with the protrusion 40 of the shutter, when the actuating mechanism thereof is, liked and transmits at this protrusion the force of release for a very short time, during the release said actuation mechanism. Upon receiving this shock from the 90 arm, the shutter will rotate to complete an exposure cycle. It can be seen, from the arrangement described, that the rotation of the impulse arm 90 in the anti-clockwise direction causes that of the shutter clockwise. of a watch.
The rotational force being, continuously transmitted by this impulse arm to the projection 40 until the divergence between the respective trajectories of the shutter and of the arm of impulse (divergence due to the different axes of rotation of these organs) breaks the contact between them. Under the effect of the live force initially f supplied by the impulse arm 90, the shutter continues its rotation in the direction of clockwise, until 'until he hits the spring. reference 42 which reverses its direction of rotation.
A shoulder 93 (or another part of the arm 90) is provided to engage a with a latch 94 having a notch 94a to this effect; this lock is mounted to be able to turn on a part of the frame of the apparatus (not shown) with using an articulation axis 96, </ B > a spring 98 returning it towards the shoulder.
The rotation of said lock 94 in the reverse direction of the needle of a watch is limited by a stop 100 mounted on said frame. The impulse arm 90, after having broken its contact with the tab 40, continues to turn anticlockwise under the action of the spring < B> 92 until it meets stop 102.
As can be seen, this is in the form of two spring elements> constituting an electrical contact, these elements ensuring effective damping to end the pivoting of the 90 impulse arm and established as a circuit leading to a flash lamp not shown. It should be understood that element element 102 could serve simply as a stopper, if a connection with a flashlamp is not provided.
It will be noted that the impulse arm 90 is one of the arms ± an angled lever which contains another arm 104 extending angularly with respect to the arm 90 , this arm 104 being provided during Farmentent of the mechanism to receive a rotational force described a little later which causes it to pivot in the direction of clockwise and thus brings back the impulse arm < B> 90 to the armed position.
The elbow lever comprising the arms 90 and 104 is articulated by an axis 106 on -Lm arm 108; the latter is articulated < B> at its turn through an axis 110 on a stretch tent 112. The axis 110 is long enough to place an je-Li between arm 108 and trigger 112; this set allows the movement of the elbow lever comprising the 90 and 104 arms.
Note that the arm 108, in the armed position shown for the impulse arm 90, is oriented at an angle in the anti-clockwise which brings it to side of the limit stop 114 constituted by a rod mounted on a part of the frame, the tension spring < B> 90. recalling the 108 arm towards this stop, in addition to its role which consists of actuating the impulse arm 90, < / B> as we have already seen.
The trigger 112 is mounted to pivotally on a part of the frame, by means of a part of the pivot axis 110 # extending inward; it is understood (read, elements 108 and 112 can rotate independently of each other.
The trigger 112 comprises an actuating lever 116 passing through a slot 11.8 of the housing 18; this lever allows the trigger to be manually turned in the counterclockwise to the limit stop 120, formed as seen by a part of the housing 18. After releasing the lever 116, the rotation of the trigger 11.2 in the direction (clockwise is ensured by the action of the tension spring 122 connected, on the one hand, to the lever 116 and, on the other hand, to part of the frame.
The trigger 112 further comprises an elbow lever 124 the shape of which is provided to both to disarm and to lock said shutter actuation mechanism.
When the lever 116 is manually rotated counterclockwise, the arm 124 is driven in the same direction and its surface 124a is actuated sensibly. bottom up, so that it meets latch 94 and releases it from the shoulder 93 of the impulse arm 90, </ B > releasing it and allowing it to drive the obturator.
According to fig. 1, the part 124a of the trigger is shown at the position where it activates the lock 94, as we have just described. It - is evident that, when f has turned the impulse arm 90 in the opposite direction of the hands of a watch until its stop 102, the arm 104 which is integral with it rotates in the same direction to a position adjacent to, the surface 124b of the arm 124.
When the manual effort of the trigger 116 lever is removed, the tension spring 122 assumes control of the mechanism; the release tent 112 comprising at both the lever 116 and the 'arm 124 is driven in a clockwise direction. The lock 94 rotates to its stop 100 and the surface 124b comes to bear against the arm 104. The rotational force applied by the surface 124b on the arm 104 plays, in the arming of the arm. mechanism, substantially simultaneous roles.
Assuming that the tension of spring 122 exceeds that of spring 92, as shown in the drawing, arm 108 rotates clockwise. shows around the axis 110 and the impulse arm 90 is entrained accordingly, in a rotational movement, di rigé, generally from high down, to a position which allows its end to pass freely below the projection 40 of the shutter, during the return stroke of the impulse arm towards the armed position.
During this stroke, the shoulder 93 moves along the ramp 94e of the latch 94 and slightly raises the latch against the Fac tion of the latch spring 98, this shoulder finally entering the notch 94a of the lock. The rotation of the arm 108 and, of the trigger 112 in the direction of clockwise, after the completion of the operations just described, is limited respectively by the stops < B> 126 and 128.
Fig. 1 also shows a mechanism allowing manual adjustment, with a view to half-exposure exposure and to which is associated a device ensuring the automatic return of this mechanism to an adjustment for exposure instantaneous, a-near completion of the half-pose exposure shown in FIG. 1, -this associated means comprising an interlocking with the trigger, in order to ensure the automatic return.
This mechanism, as well as said associated means, comprise a locking arm 130 mounted on an elbow lever 132, articulated at in turn on the frame by an articulation axis 134. When the arm 130 turns clockwise until the end of its stroke where to its half-way position , pose, the end parts of this arm are spaced apart by the projection 40, during the rotation of the latter in the direction of clockwise.
After the tab 40 has passed the locking arm 130,, this arm suddenly returns inward, the surface 40b of the tab hits the return spring 42 which reverses the direction of rotation. of the shutter and the end of the locking arm 130 intercepts the surface 40a of the leg; this ends rotation of the shutter -and keeps the shutter open. It will be understood that the deformation charac- teristics of the 130 worm arm are such that no appreciable reduction in shutter speed is permitted during the rotation of the latter in the direction. clockwise, ensuring that the exposure times are correct.
The shutter is urged against the 130 worm arm by a spiral torsion spring lâ6, connected, on the one hand, to the shaft 22 of the shutter. rotary rator and, on the other hand, to the 26. support. This spiral spring has essentially no effect on the general speed of the shutter during a given rotation cycle of the latter, because this spring, while braking the rotation of the shutter in the direction of clockwise, accelerates it in the opposite direction and these two effects are substantially offset over a complete operating cycle.
The means provided for rotating clockwise the locking arm 130 of the rotary shutter comprise a spout 138 forming a lever and extending obliquely. from from an angled lever 132 of particular shape and an arm 140 movable in the horizontal plane and crossing the housing 18, one end of this arm carries, on the outside of the case, an operating button 142 and the arm has a slot 144 intended to receive the spout 138. < / B> It can be seen that by operating the arm 140 by hand , the elbow lever 132 and the locking arm 130 </ B are rotated > set to this one.
Fig. 1 shows the arm 1.40 at its end position towards the interior, a position which corresponds to the instantaneous and is defined by the stop of the lever button 142 against the housing 18, the arm 140 having, at this moment, rotate the locking arm 130 of the shutter, to release it from 1 - CI the circular path of tab 40.
Appropriate relaxation means are provided to elastically maintain the elements described above in the positions shown, these retaining means comprising an elastic member 146 mounted on a guide 148 and able to engage in a notch 150 praïcique in the arm 140, the guide 148 being mounted on the frame of the apparatus.
A stop 152 projecting perpendicularly from the arm 140 is provided to abut against the casing 18 when this arm is extracted from the casing, thus limiting the stroke of this extraction and consequently defining the limit of the 'clockwise rotation stroke of the 130 locking arm of the shutter, corresponding to the half setting. pose.
The interlocking or latching mechanism ensuring the automatic return of the arm 140 inwards and the rotation of the locking arm  130  of the shutter in the counter-clockwise direction. watch in order to release the projection 40 after a half-pose exposure comprises an arm 154 articulated on one end of the trigger 112 by an axis  156;  a spring  158  recalls the arm 154 counterclockwise;
the end 140a of the arm 1-10 is arranged so as to slide on the arm 154 and on the arm 160 of the special angled lever < B> 132. The arm 140 occupying its internal or instantaneous end-of-travel position, as shown in FIG. 1, the pivoting of the trigger does not cause any movement of the locking arm 130, the edge of the arm 154 lying freely on the edge 140a of the arm 140.
When the trigger is in the armed position, this position being determined by the limit stop 128, the edge 154a comes to bear against the part 160a when the arm 140 is withdrawn to the maximum for a half-pose, this extraction causing a rotation of the arm 160 in the direction of clockwise.
Assuming that the elements are in this last position of adjustment, if the trigger is operated by by hand counterclockwise, the surface 154a leaves the surface 160a , after having slid on it and the arm 154 turns counterclockwise under the action of the spring 1.58, its end 154b passing below the arm 160; Fangle of arm rotation 154:
is small due to the resumption of contact between the surfaces 154a and 140a. After removing the manual force exerted on the trigger 116 , the trigger is activated by the tension spring 122 and turns clockwise to return < B> to the armed position.
At the same time as this return rotation of the trigger lever takes place, the end 154b of the arm 154 travels a path directed substantially from the bottom up coming to bear against the surface 160b of the arm 160 which it turns counterclockwise. This anticlockwise rotation of the arm 160 causes a similar rotation of the locking arm 130 which is thus brought to its instantaneous position, the arm 140 being pulled inward as far as possible. As we have seen already , when the locking arm 130 swings counterclockwise to its instantaneous position, the spiral spring < B> 136 ra takes the shutter to the closed position.
In summary, it emerges from the description of the orgails and their operation that the half-pose is obtained by extracting the button 142 to its limit stop and by activating the trigger with by hand; the duration of this exposure is determined by the period of time during which the trigger is kept pressed with the hand against the stop 120. After releasing the trigger, the impulse arm is automatically reset , the shutter closes and the mechanism is ready for instant exposure.
Fig. 2 schematically shows a variant of the mechanism comprising: a rotating disk-shaped diaphragm 256, pierced with openings 258 of various diameters; 260, 262 and, 264 return springs ensuring the various shutter speeds; indicator means comprising the digits from 2 to 14 inserted on one face of the diaphragm, and an opening 266 made in the part 268 of the box allowing these figures to be seen individually.
This variant constitutes a form of execution making it possible to bring the apertures of the diaphragm to their position of exposure in complete steps and to adjust the exposure time (expressed in seconds) to a chosen given value and, for example:
f: 44 to 1/60 ", f: 32 to 1/60", f: 922 to 1160 ", f: 16 to 1/60" , f: 11 at 1/60 ", f: 11 at 1112" and f : 11 at 1/7 ". The aforementioned figures represent lighting as we have already said and the window 266 serves as a fixed mark for the positioning of these digits; any digit appearing through of the window indicates to both the opening placed next to the 'or exposure 270 and the operating position of one of said return springs.
It should be understood that the elements of fig. 2 are shown as they will appear to an observer placed in the same way as in fig. 1 and that a shutter of the general type shown in fig. 1 is intended to to be associated with them, this shutter thus rotating clockwise and returning to its initial position after having rebounded on one of the return springs. Any combination of adjustment of the aforementioned mechanism obtained by bringing the selected figure into window 266 ensures correct exposure.
A pinion 272 and a control button 274 f easy to fit with it and capable of being put in place from outside the camera body allow, to rotate the diaphragm 256, this pinion gear with the teeth 276 of the diaphragm to actuate it. The return springs 260 and 262 are mounted respectively on rotating arms 278 and 280 articulated on axes respec tives 282 and 284 and returned clockwise by the springs 286 and 288. The above elements are mounted on appropriate parts not shown of the frame or the housing.
Each of these arms further comprises a follower member 290 and 292 respectively, these followers slide to the periphery of the diaphragm which constitutes a cam . This cam comprises two sectors 294 and 296. The sector 296 has a radius greater than the sector 294, When the diaphragm rotates and the followers 290 or 292 mount, on the sector 296, the return springs which are associated with them rotate in a substantially radial path away from the circular path of the shutter to come to an inoperative position, while when the followers traverse sector 294, the springs occupy the position in which they intercept the shutter during its rotation.
Considering again the initial rotation of the shutter in the direction of the needles, this shows, as shown in fig. 1, it can be seen from fig. 2, that the res sort of return 264 is the last of these springs, s to intercept the shutter and, since it ensures the exposure time of the long pl-Lis, it can be mounted in a fixed position, as indicated.
Means are provided, of unwinding suitable for resiliently retaining the diaphragm in various angular positions corresponding to the position of each of the openings in front of the objective 270. These means may for example comprise a fixed axis 298, a spring lock 300 suitably mounted in this axis and several notches 302 made in the hub 304 of the diaphragm and in which the latch can engage.
It should be understood that the number of return springs shown was only shown as an example and that depending on the number of shutter speeds provided, y will take place. '' increase or decrease the number of these springs provided with their positioning means, the length of the sector 296 of the cam and the position of the respective followers to be carefully determined to </ B > the advance in order to activate and deactivate the return springs. For the adjustment of the mechanism shown in fig. 2, -The sector of the cam 296 has raised the cam followers 290 and 292 by rotating the return springs 262 and 260 to their inoperative position.
The fixed return spring 264 operates to ensure an exposure time of 'Y'- The rotation (read diaphragm counterclockwise to from of this setting position progressively obliges followers to leave sector 296 and to enter sector 294, thus bringing return springs 262 and 260 at their operating position, which gives the exposure times of 1112 "and 1160" respectively.
To obtain the exposure time 1/6 () "when the aperture f: 11 is placed opposite the lens 270, it is obvious that the sector 296 must not actuate the cam follower 290; and this is enabled by a sufficiently reduced length of the sector 296 of the cam. The sector 296 is provided with a suitable length by giving the arm 280, between the follower and the parts on which the springs are mounted, a sufficient length.
The springs 286 and 288 respectively provide means to keep the trackers 290 and 292 in contact with the sector 294 , so that the attack of the shutter against the return spring 260 or 262 does not cause any radial displacement of these resources. Of course, you can turn this diaphragm in either direction to get any of the above adjustments as quickly as possible and for the lock to to spring < B> 300 engages in the notches 302 to immobilize the diaphragm when the digits are placed opposite the fixed mark.
It should be understood that the values of f : and the time values shown in fig. 2 have been given only as an example.
The mechanisms shown schematically in the drawing include various elements the shape of which is generally suitable for the accomplishment of various functions which have been defined above. It is obvious, however, that some organs can easily change place or shape, while performing the same functions.
The embodiment shown in FIG. 2 and comprising three openings of the same diameter to allow to keep a constant opening diameter, while varying the exposure time could easily be changed so to include only one opening in slot shape embracing the three aforementioned openings as well as the intermediate zones.
On the other hand, instead of providing several return springs as in FIG. 2, one could mount a return spring united only on a suitable part of the member 256, this spring being able to rotate to various angular positions,
as shown in fig. 1. Another variant of fig. 2 could include a return spring of elongated shape tending to to relax inwards to intercept the trajectory of the rotation of the shutter and parts of which would be suitably formed to be able to be actuated directly by the cam in order to be brought into this path and to be away from it. It is also evident that the apertures of the diaphragm shown in fig. 2 could all have very different diameters.
It is possible to use return springs of very diverse shapes, one or more of them being able to include or be associated with means varying their deformation characteristic and the speed of the shutter. Means making it possible to modify the effective length of a flat spring would fall into this category of variants.
If preferred, one could incorporate the spring into the shutter itself, in which case rigid stops arranged in the path of the shutter's rotation would serve (the return means. < B> It is also obvious that we can provide means to vary the tension. Of the tension spring 92 of fig. 1 to be able to thus varying the speed of rotation of the impulse arm 90 and, consequently, that of the shutter, these means being for example adapted to time settings exposure, during the manufacture of the device or being associated with a control allowing adjustment of the exposure times in service.
The return spring serving as the element determining the lowest speed can, as such, be replaced by another means of reversing the direction of rotation of the shutter, this means which may include either the spiral spring 136, or a spiral spring having other torsion characteristics than the spring 1.36. It is also possible to provide a spiral spring provided with means allowing '' adjust the torsion characteristics to have several relative minima for the exposure times.
As shown in fig. 1, the essential role of the spiral spring 136 is to return the shutter to its closed position after installation, and, in secondly, to recall the shutter to this position in the event that the means of actuation of the instantaneous fail this function. It is obvious that another embodiment of the means for returning the shutter to the closed position after a half exposure may include, for example, a means for actuating the shutter. the shutter associated with the half-pose locking means themselves.
The spiral spring can thus be omitted in certain circumstances indicated above, although its presence is preferred. The shape of the shutter member itself can be changed, for example by eliminating the counterweight, this variant making it possible to reduce the mass of the shutter and allowing either another lighter construction of the spring and other associated members, or faster shutter rotation speed.
The shutter mechanism in question here is of relatively simple construction and exhibits certain qualities of chronometric precision which are, to a large extent, due to the characteristics allowing to reduce to a minimum. the surfaces in contact rubbing during the movements of the shutter. Such a shutter mechanism allows precise calibration of these various speed settings, and it will be understood that it is particularly; advantageous in all cases where the quality of the final proof depends above all on exposure factors. The shutter speed, as that term is defined here, is the exposure period during which light passes through the lens aperture.
The exposure period is determined by the length of the arc following which the shutter rotates before reversing its direction of rotation and by the speed of movement of the shutter, speed commanded before and after its reversal point. . The shutter is intended to be incorporated in various classic cameras, but is particularly suitable for cameras where the shutter is interposed between the lenses of the objective and which uses relative aperture lenses. reduced suitable for . the exposure of a fast-emulating film.
