la feuille de papier suivante, et il en résulte que le bord des feuilles succes sives se présente à la. génératrice de tangence du tambour imprimeur et du rouleau de pres sion à .des instants correspondant à des pas sages, par cette génératrice, -de points diffé rents du cliché-stencil;
Printing apparatus fitted with an automatic feed device for sheets of reamed paper. The present invention. has for object a similar printer apparatus, such as a duplicator, provided with an automatic feeding device .des sheets of reamed paper.
In known devices (this kind, the paper, arranged in a ream, is removed sheet by sheet to be brought into contact with the printing member, for example caught by a rotating drum, generally made of perforated sheet covered with a felt. inked and the stencil cliché to be reproduced, against which the sheet of paper is hand held applied by a pressure roller.
One of the aims of the invention is to obtain perfect regularity of printing, in particular a perfect and regular framing of the text printed on the sheet of paper, as well as the possibility of printing a number of high copies without the print quality varying from place to place on the sheet. This result can be obtained by means of the printing apparatus which is the subject of the invention.
We have. already proposed printing devices provided with automatic feeding devices comprising for example a team animated -un reciprocating movement and provided with a rubberized roller resting on the ream of paper and able -de roll freely on the paper when the moving assembly moves back, and to block when this equipment advances, this blocking causing the dragging by friction of the top sheet -of the oar.
Such devices have many drawbacks and do not allow to obtain a regular printing for the following reasons: apart from the imprecision due to the driving of the sheets by friction and which one could at the Admittedly, when it does not exceed a value of the order of a millimeter, this drive has the effect not only of -displacing., during -the forward movement of the wheel, the upper sheet of the oar , but also to cause by friction, over a more or less great length and in any case irregular,
the next sheet of paper, and as a result, the edge of the successive sheets appears at the. tangency generator of the printing drum and of the pressure roller at instants corresponding to wise steps, by this generator, of different points of the cliché-stencil;
otherwise - said, there occurs, between. the stencil and the .pa pier sheets, a phase shift which tends to increase and which makes it impossible to uniformly frame the text printed on the sheets, the progressive shift being able to go up to remove the header from the text. On the other hand, at the time. where the printing drum and pressure roller pick up the sheet of paper, they usually move it faster than the feed roller does.
As the mobile crew carrying the. The feed wheel must have a certain weight to produce a good friction drive during its advancement movement, it produces against a significant braking when the sheet of paper is driven by the drum, hence high friction. between this sheet and the next one under the roller, production of paper dust and clogging of the stencil, which has the effect that after the printing of a certain number of copies the printing becomes defective in a following central band the longitudinal axis of the sheet.
The printing apparatus which is the object of the present invention: makes it possible to remedy these drawbacks. It also comprises a device for automatically feeding the sheets of reamed paper, and this device also comprises a drive member in front of the even sheet paper, this member being carried by a mobile unit driven by a reciprocating movement ide back and forth.
but it is characterized in that this crew further comprises a repositioning member which acts, during the retraction stroke of said crew, on the second sheet of paper, to bring it back to the position it occupied before d 'have been dragged by the first sheet. In certain embodiments, the apparatus may also have mechanisms intended, on the one hand, to lift and disable the drive member at the moment when the sheet of paper is gripped by it. the printing device and, on the other hand,
to lift and put out of action the resetting member after a sufficient recoil stroke to bring back the second. leaf in the position it originally occupied.
In such embodiments, the sheets are always in a position well determined by a stop. start when the feeder begins to pull them forward. so that no offset tends to occur between the stencil applied on the drum and the successive sheets, except for small irregularities due to imperfections specific to the friction drive:
however, these irregularities can. be greatly reduced by increasing. <B>], - </B> weight of the moving crew, which produces a more regular training by increasing the. pressure and therefore the tensile force, because the fact that the drive and replacement members are lifted and put out of action as soon as their respective roles are completed, it does not occur between -the first two sheets of the oar no unnecessary rubbing liable to cause, as indicated above, the clogging of the stencil.
It is also possible to provide a device making it possible to compensate for the obliquity of the lines of the stencil which occurs quite often when the stencil is not placed completely correctly on the typewriter at the time of typing. For this purpose, the drive member may be orientable so as to be able to impart to the drive of the sheet a certain obliquity with respect to the longitudinal axis of the apparatus, corresponding to the obliquity of the sheet. typing the stencil.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the apparatus according to the invention, constituted by a duplicating apparatus.
The. Fib. 1 is an elevational view of the apparatus, one of the flanges supporting the rotating drum being assumed to be removed, in the position where the forward drive member comes into action.
Fig. 2 is a plan view.
Fig. 3 is an elevational view showing the position in which the forward drive member is lifted and put out of action.
The apparatus shown in the drawing comprises, like the known duplicators, a rotating printing drum 1 mounted between two lateral flanges 2, 2 ', a feed apron 3 on which the ream of paper 4 is placed and which carries a stopper 5 adjustable according to the length of the sheets used, by means of screws 6, 6 '; finally, one. output apron 7 on which are placed. sheets printed as they come out of the printing drum 1.
This device is equipped with an automatic -d'feeding device comprising a mobile reciprocating movement, arranged in the axis of the device and consisting of two side bars 8, 8 'assembled at the front by a plate 9 folded over the edges.
This mobile team carries at the front two toothed drive rollers 10, 10 'made of rubber, carried by an arm 11 fixed in an orien table manner on the plate 9 by means of a screw 12.
These rollers are mounted on their axis in a known manner by means of a mechanism of the kind of a free wheel which allows them to roll freely, on the paper when the device moves back (arrow f) and to lock. in the direction of advance (arrow <B> f </B>) so as to feed the paper by friction. Towards the rear, mobile equipment 8,
8 'carries another rubberized roller 13 intended for re-positioning the second sheet and mounted on its axis so as to roll freely when the moving assembly advances (arrow f') and to lock in the direction of retreat ( arrow f), so as to bring by friction -the -second sheet -of paper against the start stop 5.
This replacement wheel is also adjustable on the crew 8, 8 'according to the height of the sheets of paper used and it is for this purpose mounted on a slide 14, while its axis 15, provided with a nut to ears 16, engages in two longitudinal longitudinal slides 17, provided in the lateral bars 8, 8 'constituting the movable assembly.
On either side of the ream of paper, on the feed apron 3, are mounted guide cylinders 18-, 19 and 18 ', 19', preferably lined with sponge rubber, and whose The position is chosen so as to exert on the edge of the ream of paper 4 a slight friction just sufficient to prevent the sheets from sliding off.
The control -of the reciprocating movement of the mobile unit -feeding and re-positioning takes place through -the following organs:
on the shaft of the drum 1 is mounted, on one side of this drum, a cam 20 constituted by an eccentric circular plate. This cam acts on one of the two levers 21, 21 'forming connecting rods, articulated on a transverse axis 22, the controlled lever being pushed back to the left by a coil spring 23 (FIG. 2) wound on the axis 22.
On the two levers 21, 21 'is articulated a part 24 elongated in the form of a crankshaft, on the transverse part, forming a crank pin 25, from which the movable assembly 8, 8' is pivoted.
Thanks to this control device, the moving assembly is moved in the direction of retreat (fig. 1) by the action of the cam 20 on the lever 21 'and, -in the direction of travel (fig. 1). . 3), by the return spring 23.
During the retraction, the rollers 10, 10 'roll freely on the paper, while the, roller 13 is blocked and drives the second sheet of paper by friction back, against the stop 5, while the first sheet, freed from roulette 13 ,.
passes between the drum 1 and a pressure roller 26, while on the contrary, during the advancement movement of the mobile unit 8, 8 ', 1a. caster 13 rolls freely and casters 10, 10 'lock and bring the leading edge @of the top sheet between drum 1 and roller 26.
When the sheet is thus engaged between the tam bour 1 and the roller 2,6, the rollers 10, 10 'are lifted and put out of action by the following device (fig. 1 and 3): an arm 27 , articulated at 28, can oscillate in a vertical plane close to that of one of the lateral arms of the crankshaft 24, between two stops 29, 30, and it carries to. its end a toothing forming a rack 31; on the corresponding arm of the crankshaft 24 is fixed a notch 32.
The position of the lower stop 29 of the arm 27 and that of the notch 32 are determined so that this notch engages the rack when the front edge of the sheet is engaged between the drum 1 and the roller 26.
At this time, the notch 32 causes the application of the arm 27 against the upper stop 30, and the forward movement of the moving assembly being blocked, the pivoting of the crankshaft 24 on the ends of the connecting rods 21, 21 ' causes the lifting of the front of the mobile assembly 8, 8 'and the rollers 10, 10' which do not brake the sheet of paper which is driven at higher speed by the drum 1 (fig. 3). h1 should be noted that, depending on whether the ream of paper is more or less thick, the start and end of travel of the drag rollers 10, 10 ', which are carried by an articulated system, are located at points which: are more or less close to the contact generator of drum 1 and -of roller 26.
Also so that these rollers 10, 10 'are not lifted before the sheet is caught by the drum, the rack 31 has a profile determined to take account of the progressive shift towards the front of the point of attack of the rollers. 10, 10 'as the thickness of the ream decreases and thus to maintain a constant value for the length of the driving stroke of this wheel.
The drum continuing to rotate, the cam <B> 0 </B> again acts on the lever 21 ′ and 22 pushes the mobile assembly backwards. As indicated above, the wheel 13 ra then drives the next sheet of paper backwards which may have been shifted forward during the driving of the previous sheet.
After a hundred stroke, sufficient to carry out this repositioning, the wheel 13 is in turn raised and put out of action using a roller 33 also mounted on the adjustable slide 14 carrying the wheel 1.3 and coming into contact with an inclined ramp 34 integral with the start stopper 5 el, the position of which can thus be adjusted at the same time as that of the latter depending on the height of the sheets of pa pier used.
A graduation 35, carried on one of the bars 8, 8 ', indicates the position of the axis of the roller 13 as a function of the height of the paper, and an identical graduation 36 (fig. 2) is used for the adjustment. stop 5 and. inclined ramp 34.
