Control mechanism for automatic or semi-automatic machine tool holders. The subject of the invention is a control mechanism for automatic or semi-automatic machine tool holders, comprising a cam intended to communicate to said tool holder a reciprocating, direct and retrograde movement, the direct and operative stroke of said holder. tools being limited by a movable stopper.
The tool-holder slide, also referred to by the term;; sinking slide ", supports at least one tool, for example a bu rin or a milling cutter, in the usual automatic or semi-automatic machine tools; but, it could be multi-tool and include different sinking tools, for example a chisel and a milling cutter.
The invention relates to the control of this tool holder and aims to assign to the slide and therefore to the tool or tools, a precise sinking stroke for each operation or cycle of operations. Said mobile stopper is integral with a rotary mobile controlled by the aforementioned cam, the one which actuates the tool holder (slide), so that it is brought automatically, by performing an angular translational movement, from one into the other respective displacement field of at least two adjustable stops provided for the tool holder, to limit each direct (sinking) stroke of the latter.
According to the invention, the stopper mentioned is formed by a boss provided on one of the faces of a rotary plate comprising a pin controlled by a rack coupled to a lever cooperating with the aforementioned cam, this lever being controlled by - pegs im planted in one of the faces of said cam and cooperating, one after the other, with an inclined plane head of this lever.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows it in elevation, part of the tool holder support being drawn in section; fig. 2 is a plan view; fig. 3 shows, from the front, the rotary mobile fitted with the stopper, the pinion and the control rack for this mobile.
In a rectilinear slide 5 of the frame 4 is fitted a sinking slide 6 forming the tool holder. This slide will carry the tool (s) to turn or mill (not shown) intended to perform, on the workpiece, a turning or milling work, in two or more successive operations.
Assuming that this tool is a sinking chisel having to operate a core turning with three different diameters on the same workpiece, the slide 6 will be adjusted beforehand for three alternating strokes, each of which includes a direct stroke ( sinking) and retrograde travel. For this purpose; the slide is controlled by a cam 7 with a profiled periphery, rotating in the direction indicated by the arrow in fig. 2, by means of at least one lever 8 pivoted at 9 and coupled to the slide 6.
The lever 8 is supported against the cam 7 by a finger 10, under the action of a powerful spring (not shown) always tending to move the. smooth neck in the direction of direct movement (driving). At the rear of the slide 6 is fixed a transverse plate 11, to which are subject three micrometers 12, 1, 3 and 14, the mobile pins 12 ', 1 W and 14' are located on the same arc of a circle concentric with the axis of rotation of a rotating plate 15 provided with a pinion 16.
This plate is fitted, by its pinion, in a bore 17 of the support 4; it is secured there by a nut 18, so that it can perform a rotational movement or, at least, an oscillating movement around its axis, which movement is communicated to the pinion 16 by a rack 19 meshing in the latter. This rack is fitted in a slide 21 of the frame 4 and coupled to a control lever 21, by means of a pin 2'2 engaged in a transverse groove of the rack.
The lever 21, pivoted at 24 to the frame, extends towards the cam 7 where it ends with a head having, on one side, opposite said cam, two uniform projections 25 and 26 arranged more or less symmetrically with respect to a free passage 2'7 separating the projections from one another.
Each projection has two inclined planes 28, 29 converging towards the passage 27 and the first of which, 28, are intended to cooperate with three lateral pins 30 located in the cam 7 and offset from one another.
These pegs come into abutment, one after the other, while the cam 7 rotates and communicates with the slide 6 a recti-line reciprocating movement against one or the other of the inclined planes 2i8 to then cross the free passage 27. As a result, the lever 21 is actuated and assigns the plate 15 a determined angular position, each time one of the pegs crosses the passage 27 and holds. stationary for a short time, the lever 21, since the cam rotates slowly.
Now, the plate 15 has, on its anterior face an eccentric boss 31 which constitutes a stopper arranged opposite the three adjustable stops 12 ', 13', 14 'and at the same distance from the axis of rotation of the plate 15 as these last. This stopper 3-1 is brought, automatically, by the action of the pins 30 on the lever 21, in the respective displacement field of the three stop pins 13 ', 12' and 14 'passing in this order from one in the other field. i It follows that each direct stroke (sinking) of the slide 6 is precisely limited by one of said pins bu both against the stopper 311 at the time.
where the corresponding pin 3.0 crosses passage 27 of 1a. head of the lever 21. The movement of the stopper takes place during the retrograde stroke and part of the direct stroke of the slide.
The stopper could be formed by an or-, pane adapted in an adjustable manner to the plate 15, for example by a micrometric screw.
As for the adjustable stops provided for the slide 6, their number will be appropriate to that of the operations to be carried out by the eyelash (s). In the example described above with reference to the appended drawing, it has been assumed that the tool or tools are mounted directly on the sinking slide 6. However, in certain machines, these tools are mounted indirectly on this slide. driving, by means of a transverse slide (not shown) fitted to the first and controlled by a cam 32 (fig. 1) wedged on the shaft 33 which also carries the cam 7.
However, it is understood that this transverse slide and its control means do not come within the scope of this invention.
