La fig. 1 en est une vue en élévation ;
La fig. 2 en est une vue en plan ;
La fig. 3, une vue, de côté, en coupe selon la ligne III-III de la fig. 1 ;
La fig. 4 est une vue en bout du tour à partir du'côté droit de la fig. 1 ;
La fig. 5 est une vue partielle en coupe selon la ligne V-V de la fig. 1 et la fig. 6 montre une variante d'un détail de construc- tion ;
Les fig. 7 à 11 se rapportent à une se con-de forme d'exécution et la représente, la fig. 7 en élévation, la fig. 8 en plan, la fig. 9 partiellement en coupe selon la ligne IX-IX de la fig. 7, la fig. 10 vue de bout et la fig. 11 en coupe selon la ligne XI-XI-de la fig. 1 ;
Automatic turning machine.
The object of the present invention is an automatic turning machine, with one spindle, in which the lower part of the base is extended from the side of the tools. Such lathes are used especially for high speed working of metals or of materials such as synthetic resins, casein compounds, etc., which result in extremely bulky chips in turning.
Since high-speed lathes can only be used with advantage if the movement of the various tools they contain is extremely fast, it is of all importance that the masses supporting these tools are as small as possible. However, in the towers mentioned above, we have not succeeded so far in reducing the masses in question much. The maximum yield can therefore not be reached.
The object of the present invention enables the dimensions of the moving parts to be considerably reduced and this by virtue of the fact that its dolls are only connected by bars, one of which serves as a support for the tools, the turning spindle being at least in the immediate vicinity of the plane determined by two of these bars, all with the aim of leaving a large space between the tools and the extension of the support for the chips.
The accompanying drawing shows examples of execution of a lathe according to the present invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view thereof;
Fig. 2 is a plan view;
Fig. 3, a side view in section along line III-III of FIG. 1;
Fig. 4 is an end view of the lathe from the right side of FIG. 1;
Fig. 5 is a partial sectional view along the line V-V of FIG. 1 and fig. 6 shows a variant of a construction detail;
Figs. 7 to 11 relate to a con-embodiment and shows it, FIG. 7 in elevation, FIG. 8 in plan, FIG. 9 partially in section along line IX-IX of FIG. 7, fig. 10 end view and FIG. 11 in section along the line XI-XI-of FIG. 1;
Fig. 12 shows a detail of a third embodiment.
The tour shown in Figs. 1 to 5 comprises a foot 1 in the form of a bowl on the bases of which are mounted a frame 2, hollow, in which there are various cams, not shown, as well as a support 3 connected to the frame by the rods 4 and 5. These rods are here fixed and one of them, 4, carries a movable head 6, clamped in place by means of a collar 7.
This head carries a bearing 8, in which is housed a spindle 9 which can perform a longitudinal movement and which can be driven rotatably by means of a pulley 10 carrying two rods 11 inserted into the holes of a plate 12 wedged on the spindle 9. .
Between the bearing 8 and the plate 12 is inserted a spring 13, which constantly tends to press the pin against a piston 14 passing through the support 3 and subjected to the action of a cam 15 by means of a lever 16 pivoted in an extension 17 of said support. The wedge 15 is connected to the main shaft of the machine by a shaft 18 and a helical wheel 19. The bar from which the workpieces come out passes through the headstock 20 driven by the pulley 21.
It is brought by a feed device cooperating with grippers, which are not shown, within reach of the tools 22, all fixed on slides whose movements depend on cams not shown housed in the frame 2.
It is clear that by means of the device shown, it is possible, at a given moment, to attack by means of the drill 23 the part partially worked by the tools 22 and this either during the turning of the part by giving the spindle 9 a speed appropriate to the speed that the workpiece is already working, or after having stopped the latter to drill into the. turned face of the workpiece an eccentric hole.
In the embodiment which is shown in FIG. 6, the spindle 9 is driven by means of rods 11 and of a plate 12, but these rods 11 are screwed into a toothed wheel 25 in engagement with a second toothed wheel 26 manufactured with a drive pulley 27 .
The head 6, due to its fixing by means of a collar, can oscillate on the bar which carries it and can be placed in different positions relative to the turning axis.
In the bus of several spindles such as 9 which can carry either drills of different diameters, or cutters or tabs, the movements of the head around the rod which carries it can be controlled in any suitable manner, for example by means of of a hollow shaft extending to the outside of the support and carrying means cooperating with one or more cams that could, for example, be fixed like the cam 15 on the end of 1 ' shaft 18 behind the support away from the shells.
In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 7 and 8,9,10 and 11, we are dealing with the same category of towers. We find there the foot 1, the frame 2, the support 3, rods analogous to'celles 4 and 5, the movable head 6, all these members arranged exactly as in the embodiment described above. Here, however, the movable head 6 is made up of a housing in two parts integral with a hollow shaft 30 which can pivot both in the frame 2 and in the support 3.
Towards the latter, this hollow shaft carries a toothed wheel'31. meshed with a toothed segment 32, pivoted at 33 and resting by a nose 34 on a cam 35 wedged on the shaft 18. The lobes of this cam are therefore capable of influencing the position of the head 6 and of sometimes bring one, sometimes the other of the tools 36 or 317 in the turning axis. The rotary movement of these tools is communicated to them by a shaft 38 housed in the hollow shaft 30 and on which is wedged a toothed wheel 39 in relation to a said 40, integral with the shaft of the lathe.
A gear train 41 whose first movable r is keyed on the shaft 38 communicates to the tools 36, 37 the rotation which is necessary for them each time that, by the movements of the cam 35, they come to be placed opposite. -vis of the piston 14 which is here also moved by a lever 16 and a cam 15 similar to those of the previous embodiment.
Fig. 9 shows the arrangement of the tools 22 which perform the bar turning. The cams on which their movement depends are housed in the frame 2.
As they are arranged, the cams 15 and 35 are here completely protected from the chips which are released by the tools between the frame 2 and the support 3.
In the embodiment which is shown in fig. 12, the head 6 has six different tools placed 60 'from each other. These tools are only shown schematically. They are supported by a hollow bar 30 having inside it an axis 38 which receives its movement from the head of the doll and they are put into position either by means of seg
toothed elements such as 31, 32, or by means of
of a mechanical device of a known type such as a Maltese cross, for example. The exact position of the tools is ensured by a pawl 43 taking in notches 43 distributed around the perimeter of the head.
