Iüeyelette whose handlebars are fitted with a damping device. The main patent relates to a bicycles whose handlebars are provided with a damping device, characterized in that, handlebars and fork tube being made integral with the rotation, the first can slide axially with respect to the second, organs. elastic bands being interposed.
In one embodiment, given by way of example, there are provided two elastic members urged in compression and closed in a housing integral with the handlebars and in which their .deux ends facing rest against the two faces of 'an interposed part, integral with the fork tube.
The object of the present invention is a bicycle whose handlebars are provided with a positive shock absorber device, according to the claim of the main patent, and comprising two elastic members urged in compression and closed in a housing integral with the handlebars and in which their two ends in re guard bear against two interposed parts, one of which is integral with the fork tube. This bicycle is further characterized by cooperation such as accommodation and:
of that of said elastic members located closest to the fork, that by moving .the handlebars towards the latter, the housing drives at a given moment the inner end of the aforementioned elastic member.
The appended drawing represents a partial embodiment of the object of the invention, given by way of example.
Fig. 1 -is an axial section of the damping device of said embodiment, this section being made perpendicular to the middle part of the handlebar tube.
Fig. 2 shows the upper end of the fork tube.
Fig. 3 is a view from above of the positive shock absorber.
Fig. 4 is a section through IV-IV of FIG. 1.
In the bicycle shown, the handlebars 1 is connected to the upper end 2a of the fork tube by means of a box 3a constituting a cylindrical housing, closed at its lower part by a bottom 4a, fixed by a connection to. bayonet, and at its upper part by a cap 5, held on the tube by the usual fixing rod 6.
In the direction of the rotation of the fork, handlebars 1 and tube 2a are made integral with one another by means of a part of square section 7a of the cylinder 3a, sliding on a corresponding square 8a of the tube. This is necessary to ensure leadership.
3xially, the box 3a, integral with the gui don, has a certain play with regard to the tube, that is to say it can slide ax-ia- ally on the latter, but only to the extent that this allows two damping springs 9 and 10, enclosed in said box, and bearing by their outer free ends, one against the bottom 4a, the other against a shoulder 11, and by their inner ends in look, against two washers 12 and 14, la,
washer 1 #? being welded to the tube 2a on which it cannot therefore move.
Between the lower washer 14 and the washer 12 is interposed a washer 13, the two washers 1-3 and 14 being free of grout ser along the tube. The washer 1.3, located between the washers 12 and 14, is made of a soft material, for example leather, rubber, fiber, etc.
The washer 14 is. on the other hand in metal. Its diameter exceeds that of the other two washers, which allows it to cooperate with a second shoulder 15 of the box 3a, in the sense that by pushing this box downwards, it drives the washer 14 at a given time, and of this is the inner end of the spring 9.
Now, it is easy to see that, in particular if this spring 9 is given a certain power, perhaps equivalent to that of the upper spring 10 or even greater, to provide support. sufficiently resistant to. traction exerted on the handlebars in climbs, the action of said spring 9 subtracting from that of the spring 10 to which it is opposed, the arrangement described has the advantage of eliminating this effect and allowing the spring 10 < / B> exert all your power as soon as the handlebars move enough to drive the washer 14.
One could even provide a construction in which, at a given moment, the action of the spring. 9 would be added to that of the res sort 10. It would suffice for this to place between the spring 9 @ and the base 4a, a sliding washer sant on the tube let, but retained by a stop in the direction of descent beyond of the equilibrium position shown.
By raising the handlebars, this washer would be driven and the spring 9 would be compressed, while by lowering it, this same spring would also be compressed between this washer retained by its stop and the washer 14 pushed towards the lias.
