Caisse enregistreuse.
Groupe <I>des</I> indicateurs.
<I>Touches.</I> La fig.
Cash register. The object of the present invention is a cash register, comprising an assembly support on which are mounted the various devices necessary for the operation of the cash register, these devices forming particular removable blocks independently of each other from the support, the connection between the different blocks being made by transmission members mounted in the support.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the cash register, which is the subject of the present invention.
Fig. 1 is a schematic perspective view showing the various disassembled parts of this embodiment.
Fig. 1a is a perspective view of the cash register when mounted. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the support of the body.
Fig. 3- is a similar view of a positive indicator say. Fig. 4 is a similar view of a positive totalizing device.
Fig. 5 is a vertical section through a key holder.
Fig. 5a is a partial perspective view of the support of the keys.
Fig. 6 is a perspective view of a driving device.
In fig. 1 and la, A is the support of the cash register, B a totalizing device, C an indicating device, D a support for the keys, and E a motor device.
A cranked main shaft 1 is mounted in the support A. By a complete revolution of this shaft, the following operations are carried out: 1. At the beginning of the revolution, the shaft 1 causes the disengagement of the keys and indicators by means of , cams 2 and 3 which are based respectively on projecting levers of the group of keys and of the indicator group as will be seen later. 2. Continuing to turn, the shaft 1 advances the totalizer and the indicators to the predetermined number, the corresponding key of which has been lowered, by means of cams 4 on which protruding levers rest.
3. Continuing the rotational movement of shaft 1, cams'.) And 3 cause the keys, indicators and totalizer to be locked again in their new positions. Then the printing is obtained on a receipt and a control sheet as a result of the lifting of a plate 5 due to a cam 12 of the shaft 1. The arrangement of the tapes of the receipt and the control sheet is visible in fig. . 1.
4. Continuing its rotational movement, the shaft 1 rotates a shaft 6 in the same direction by means of an interposed gear; said shaft 6 exerts pressure on a plane 7, pressure transmitted through the ribbon of the receipt or of the control sheet. In this way, one obtains the advance ment of the two tapes of the desired quantity.
5. As soon as the complete revolution of the shaft 1 is accomplished, the receipt is cut by scissors 9 controlled by a cam 10 which also has the task. advance, to the right and to the left, of a tape to be copied passing over special reels carried on an axis 11.
Group <I> of </I> indicators.
The group of indicators, which show the price either forward to the check-in operator or back to the customer who is to receive the receipt, is shown in perspective in fig. 3.
At the beginning. from the rotation of the shaft 1, the cam 3 lifts a lever 3a which releases the wheel from the indicators bearing the visible numbers, lifting a rod 16.
Then, the cams 4 in fig. \ ?, based on prominences 43 visible in FIG. 3, push the rack bars 13 in the direction of the indicator wheels against a return spring, so that by continuing the rotation of the shaft 1, the cams 4 successively abandon the protrusions 4A, and bars 13, visible in fi-. 3, turning back, will be supported by pawls 14 on the end of the rods of the lowered keys K (fig. 5 and 5a), in order to stop the bars at the desired point. that is, to the desired number.
Naturally the cam <B> 3 </B> of fig. 2, before the end of the revolution of the shaft 1, let down the lever 3a (fig. 3), in order to block the wheels and the indications already. made by these same indicator wheels, that is to say until the beginning of a new revolution of the shaft 1. to perform a new operation.
It is of course possible that the movement of the bars 13 can take place in the opposite direction if the cams 4 in fig. 2 are arranged so that they push the bars 13 by means of an interposed lever.
Still with reference to fig. 3, it is noted that a countershaft 15 is intended to reverse the direction of reading on the front indicator wheels relative to the rear wheels, the goal obtained being that the indicator device and the group of keys remain between the same vertical planes. <I> Keys. </I> Fig. 5a is a sectional perspective view of the keys without the cor rector levers, while FIG. 5 shows the operation of these correctors and of the pawl 14 of the bars 13.
It should be noted (in order to stop the bar 13 by means of the pawl 14 at the desired position, although there is between the keys K another step or distance) the particular configuration of the rods 16 which constitute fundamental elements for the record.
These rods 16 are bent at the ends so that the latter are not located in the same axial direction. The necessary variation is thus obtained directly between the pitch of the keys and the stop pitch of the rods 13. By lowering a key, for example that indicated by K in FIG. 5, the stop of a pawl 14 is produced in the position corresponding to the number of the lowered key.
A bar 18, pushed by a spring in the direction of arrow 19, has the function of keeping the lowered key locked.
In the event that any other key has been inadvertently lowered previously, the bar 18 also has the function of releasing this previously inadvertently lowered key, by a movement in the opposite direction to the arrow 19. The part 18 is consequently the automatic key corrector.
A lever 20, (fig. 5a) has the function, by means of an arm 21, of controlling the corrector 18 so that, depending on whether the lever is more or less raised, or else it blocks the keys (levers 20 lowered) , either it leaves them free to move (lever 20 in an intermediate position), or it cancels the recording of figures already made (lever 20 raised).
The position of the lever 20 is determined by the cam 2 as has already been mentioned. A key 18 'serves to cancel a possible erroneous recording because it raises at the same time, by means of the lever 20, all. the automatic correctors 18 belonging to each row of keys.
A lever 17 has the function of disengaging the pawl 14 from a stop 22 since, in the case where no recording has been made, that is to say in the case where no key has been lowered, this stop is necessary to hold the bars 13 in their initial position, which transmit the desired recording indicated by the keys to the indicators or to the totalizer. Totalizer. The totalizer is the device which contains the wheels which bear, in relief, the numbers and other signs which must be printed on the receipt and on the control sheet. In fig. 4 are shown only the organs necessary to understand the operation.
The device of FIG. 4, of a parallelepiped shape, is slid into its seat provided in the support A as indicated at B in fig. 1 and the.
When a desired number is dialed in the button device D, the cams 4 of FIG. 2, as has already been said, cause parts 13 of FIG. 3 rotate the indicators by a corresponding angle thanks to the stops established by the rods 16 of the keys and encountered by the pawls 14, in order to. that the same number be recorded.
If we now pass to the consideration of the totalizer of fig. 4, it should be noted that these parts 14 each determine the same rotation in the right part and in the left part of said locking (FIG. 4), of the wheels bearing notched the numbers or letters which are to be printed.
All this is obtained by means of a counter-shaft 23, of FIG. 4 which transmits the same movements of a wheel 2'5 to wheels 24, 26, 27.
The wheels 24 and 26 serve to print the same number on the receipt and on the control sheet respectively, and the wheel 27, by means of a coupling 28 operating in one direction, transmits the numbers in one direction only. , that is to say that it adds up each time the figure formed with the process for each operation.
It should however be noted that in fig. 4 is only indicated the transmission of one wheel, that is to say of a number, but the same operation is repeated with other wheels 29 and 30 and with as many other wheels, if there are any. needs, for the other vertical rows of keys in function.
As regards the totalizer wheel <B> 27, </B> it should be noted that the wheels 30, 25, 29 of fig. 4 are moved successively by the bars 13 of FIG. 3, because the cams 4 of the shaft 1 are arranged to successively actuate the bars 13, and therefore a usual Maltese cross of the transmission of the addition group on the left side can make the addition because 'it receives from left to right the transmissions of the wheels one after the other.
This constructive detail is already known, as we also know the advancement in one direction of the Maltese cross, so that it is possible to carry out the addition.
The same can be said for the resetting, carried out by the rotation of a turn of a button 31, the mechanism serving to obtain this rotation not needing to be described.
A button 33 coaxially moves wheels 34 which imprint the date, while the order number is defined by a group 35 which, in turn, is reset to zero by a button 32.
The advancement of the order number is given by a pawl 36 which rests on the same lever for advancing the tape of FIG. 2 already described.
<I> Engine. </I> If you want to operate the body by a motive force (fig. 6) instead of by hand action, by turning the crank of the shaft 1 , the device of FIG. 6.
It is an electric motor applied to an independent support plate 41 which, in turn, is fixed to the support A of the. checkout independently of other devices.
By lowering a lever 42, a brake 43 is raised which advances on a plate 44 applied to the shaft of the electric motor and at the same time an electrical contact is produced at 40.
The engine begins to turn and as soon as it is set in motion by a transmission 46, a cam 45 maintains a lever 42-43 in a position such that the contact 40 is hand held. A pinion 47 is connected by a gear to the shaft 1.
Shortly before the revolution of the shaft ends, the cam 45 allows the lever 42-43 to return to the original position by means of a spring, so that while the contact 40 is cut off, the brake 43 prevents the motor from continuing to rotate by inertia.
The transmission ratio between the shaft 1 of FIG. 2 and pinion 4 7 is 1: 1.
These various devices <I> B, C, D </I> and E of the body described form particular blocks which can be assembled and dismantled independently of the support A, while their connection in the operating position is carried out by simple transmission components, carried by support A.
It can also be seen that the keys are arranged in a slightly inclined plane and that the output of the receipt and the control sheet, as well as the registration on the latter, the keys, and the previous indicator rollers, are arranged in the same visual field. and oriented on the same side as the operator is, so that the actuation of the body does not require unnecessary visual or manual movements on the part of the operator.
The paper strips of the receipt and the control sheet are placed symmetrically with respect to the keys, and in such a way that the positioning and the exchangeability of the reserve strips which receive the writing and the tapes to be copied are extremely simple and easy to perform.
