L'arbre 82, porte, en outre, entre l'équerre 81 et la, roue 83, un ressort à boudin 86, ten dant constamment à appuyer le moyeu -de la roue 83 contre le pignon 85, celui-ci butant lui-même contre l'équerre 80, Les bras 7 à 10 présentent, sur leur face inférieure, -des :logements tronconiques 90 et 91 destinés à recevoir des saillies 92 et 93 des bras auxiliaires correspondants, lorsque ceux- ci sont appliqués contre 'les bras ortho gonaux;
Le, bras 7 étant entre les cylindres du upport 15, la came agit pour donner à l'arbre 2 un mouvement @de va-et-vient qui applique la 'lame contre les cylindres 17-18 pour aiguiser les biseaux supérieurs, puis, contre, les cylindres 19-20 pour aiguiser les biseaux inférieurs;
'l'arbre revient ensuite en position médiane et tourne de un quart de tour pour amener le bras 7 entre les cylindres du support 16 où le même processus se ré pète pour finir l'aiguisage. L'arbre tourne en core d'un quart de tour et amène le bras 7 à la dernière station opératoire dans -laquelle la lame -est détachée du bras 7; en s'élevant, le bras passe entre :les branches de la four chette 41;
Automatic machine for sharpening safety razor blades. The object of the present invention is. an automatic machine for sharpening safety razor blades. This machine is characterized by a frame, by a shaft rotatably mounted in this frame and carrying at least one transverse arm intended to transport a razor blade in at least three successive operating stations, by a dragging device, - arranged so as to communicate with said tree, alternatively,
a rotational movement causing said arm to pass from one operating station to the next, and, while the arm is in an operating station, a longitudinal back and forth movement, these operating stations having, 'one, a store intended to serve the blades, another, at least two sharpening bodies between which the arm can pass, a third, a device for detaching the blade from the arm, all so that, in, the first First station, the arm grasps a blade, in the second, it applies this blade successively against the sharpening organs. and that in the third the blade is detached from the arm.
The attached drawing represents, by way of example and semi-schematically, one embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an axial section thereof; fig. 2 is a plan view, FIG. 3 a section through III-III die fig. 1, and fig. 4 a section through IV-IV of fig. 2.
Fig. 5 is a partial vertical sectional view of a detail and, FIG. 6, a side view of this detail: FIG. 7 is an elevational view of another detail.
Figs. 8, 9, and 10 are views, on a greatly enlarged scale, respectively in elevation and end, of a detail of FIG. 5.
The embodiment shown com takes a frame 1 on which: a vertical shaft 2 is rotatably mounted; this shaft has a head 3 provided with pegs. 4 on which engages a plate 5 tightened on the head 3 by a nut 6.
Plate 5 has four orthogonal arms 7, 8, 9 and 10; on the underside of each of these arms is articulated an auxiliary arm 11, respectively 12, 13 and 14, the axis of the articulation being per pendicular to the longitudinal axis of the arm, so that the auxiliary arm can be applied against the corresponding main arm.
On the frame 1 are mounted two supports 15 and 16 on each of which are rotatably mounted four sharpening cylinders 17, 18, 19 and 20, respectively 2.1, 22, 23 and 24; these cylinders are grouped in super-posed pairs, so that the axes of the cylinders of the same pair are in a plane parallel to that in which the transverse arm moves and that the distance between the two pairs of cylinders corresponds to l total amplitude of the reciprocating movement of this arm, the axes of the cylinders of each group being mutually parallel and extending perpendicularly to the shaft 2.
The supports 15 and 16 are mounted at 90 from each other and at an equal distance from the shaft 2. The axis of each of the cylinders carries, outside the support, a toothed wheel 25; the toothed wheels of the cy- linders forming a pair mesh with each other, the axis of each of the cylinders 17 and 20, respectively 21 and 24, furthermore carries a grooved wheel 26, respectively 27, 28 and 29; the wheels 26 and 27 are connected by a belt 30 and the wheels 28 and 29 by a belt 31.
Finally, the axes of the cylinders 17 and 21 are extended inside the respective supports and each carry a conical toothed wheel 32, respectively 33, these two wheels meshing with one another. All cylinders are. therefore trained. in rotation by the cylinder 17 itself driven by a not shown engine organ.
On the frame 1, opposite the support 16 with respect to the shaft 2, is mounted a razor blade magazine formed of two vertical columns 34 and 35, aligned on the shaft 2 and arranged so that razor blades can. be stacked on top of them. On these columns can slide a plate 36 provided with a cylindrical rod 37 extending downwardly and having a rack 38.
Opposite the support 15 is fixed vertically in the frame one. tube 39, in which can slide a rod 40 having, at its upper end, a fork 41 per pendicular to the rod and, at its lower end, a hook 42.
A coil spring 43 rests, on the one hand, on the fork 41 and, on the other hand, on the upper end of the tube 39 and constantly tends to keep the fork 41 in a determined upper position. by a stop 44 fixed on the rod 40 and resting on the lower end of the tube.
The shaft 2 has, inside the frame, a collar 50 serving as a seat for a ball bearing 51, the other seat of which is formed by a ring 52 provided with lugs 53. Under the upper face of the frame is placed a second billas bearing 54 whose two seats are independent of the shaft 2. Between the bearing 54 and 'the collar 50 is placed a coil spring 55 constantly tending to bring the shaft 2 down.
A horizontal shaft 56 is rotatably mounted in the supports 57 and 58 of the frame; this shaft carries a conical toothed wheel 59, a cam 60 and a disc 61 provided with a pin 62; the shaft 56 is rotated, one at a uniform speed by a non-motor member represented.
The cam 60 is arranged so that its median plane passes through the axis of the shaft 2; this cam has three circular flanks 60a, 60b and 60e of different radii, but centered on the axis of the shaft 56, these circular flanks being united by rectilinear flanks (see FIG. 7).
On this cam supports a lever 63 through which passes the shaft 2 and which has a recessed portion 64 in which can slide a rod 6.5 pivoted on a rod 66 which can slide in a vertical guide 67 which can itself be moved horizontally. in a slide 6 8 of the frame, so that the quantity of. the shaft carrying the cross arm is moved longitudinally ment can be adjusted.
The lever 63 is articulated on the lugs, 53 of the ball bearing 51, in such a way that this lever is integral with the shaft 2 in the axial direction thereof, but independent of this rotating shaft.
The conical toothed wheel 59 constantly meshes with a toothed wheel 70: with a vertical axis and pivoting on the frame; : this wheel 70 has a pin 71 able to engage in radial notches 73 of a disc 72 fixed on the shaft 2.
All of the members 56 to 73 form the drive device of the machine.
On the frame, at 45 between tube 39 and the slide magazine 34-38 described above, and at. the same distance from the shaft 2 as this maga sin is fixed a bucket 75 containing a viscous material, thick oil for example, and on which are rotatably mounted two cylinders, superimposed 76 and 77 of parallel axes between them and radial with respect to the axis, of shaft 2.
These two: cylinders 76 and 77 touch each other by one of their generators so as to be able to roll over one another. The cylinder 76 is immersed, by its lower part, in the oil, while the upper part of the cylinder 77 just comes into contact with the lower face of the brans 7 to 10. The axis of the cylinder 77 bears, on the outside of the tub 75, on the one hand, a grooved wheel 78 and, on the other hand, four radial arms 79, the end of which is curved at 135 (see FIG. 6).
A support, formed -of two brackets 80 and 81 and a horizontal axis 82, is fixed under the upper face -du frame; on Tage 82 are rotatably mounted a grooved wheel 83, connected to the grooved wheel 78 by a belt 84, and a toothed pinion 8.5 constantly meshing with the rack 38. The hub of the wheel 83 and that of the pinion 85 have, on their facing faces, a ratchet toothing, so that the wheel 83 can drive the pinion 85 in one direction of rotation, but this pinion can turn independently of the .wheel 83 in the direction reverse.
The shaft 82 carries, in addition, between the square 81 and the wheel 83, a coil spring 86, constantly striving to press the hub of the wheel 83 against the pinion 85, the latter abutting itself. even against the square 80, the arms 7 to 10 have, on their underside, -of: frustoconical housings 90 and 91 intended to receive projections 92 and 93 of the corresponding auxiliary arms, when these are applied against the arms orthogonal;
the housings 90 and 91 are at a distance equal to that of the end holes .des razor blades and are arranged so as to be in the extension of the columns 34 and 36 of the blade magazine.
Each auxiliary arm has, at its free end, a tube 95 -in which: are placed two steel balls 96 and 97 pressed against the ends of the tube by a spring 98 placed between them.
The ball 96 can engage, when the auxiliary arm is pressed against the arm. transverse, in a semi-spherical housing 99 of the end thereof; the ball 97 can engage in. a groove 100 that has each support 15 and 16 on its inner face, so that the position -des arms relative to the supports. is determined exactly.
The auxiliary arms also have, between the projections 921: and 93, a leaf spring 101 fixed in the arm and projecting therefrom in order to be able to press the razor blade against the orthogonal arm, the spring 101 being able to be erased. in a recess 102 of the auxiliary arm.
'A mine 10'3 :, fixed on the frame between the slide magazine, and the support 15, is arranged so as to grip the arm. : auxiliary hanging under the transverse arm, to lift it worm and apply it against the latter before this arm. arrives between the: support cylinders 15-.
The pairs of -cylinders 17-18 and 19 = 20 are spaced from each other so that the arms. transverse arms and the arms: coupled auxiliaries can not only not be between these cylinders, but also move vertically with the shaft 2.
The operation of the machine is as follows: Let us start from the position indicated in fig. 2, in which the arm 7 occupies the operating station where the blade which it carries will be detached from it.
The direction of rotation of the shaft 56 is such that the. cam rotates in the direction of the arrow (fig. 1) and that the other wheels driven by this shaft as well as the shaft 2 rotate in the direction of the arrows in fig. 3.
The cam 60 acts on the lever 63 by its side 60a and raises it to its upper position by driving the shaft 2 against the spring 55; the arms 7 to 10 are therefore moved upwards and the arm 7 passes between the branches of the fork 41, which takes off the blade carried by this arm by unhooking the auxiliary arm. The cam 60 continuing to rotate, the lever 63 descends to a lower position determined by the flank 60b of the cam, then rises to a middle position when pushed by the flank 60e of the cam, a median position which it keeps for a determined time.
At this moment, the pin 71 of the wheel 70 engages in one of the radial notches of the disc 72 and turns this disc and, through it, the shaft 2 by a quarter of a turn, after which this pin leaves the notch and shaft 2 no longer turns for three quarters of a turn of shaft 56.
The rotation of the shaft 2 brought the arm 7 to the next operating station, above the slide magazine; in its passage, the lower face of the arm 7 has touched the cylinder 77 and is coated with oil; 'the arm 7 has, moreover, driven one of the radial arms 79 and has rotated the cylinder by a quarter of a turn, so that this cylinder has, at its upper part, a surface freshly coated with oil.
The arm 7 arrived above the blade magazine, under the action of the cam 60, goes up, down and, in doing so, is applied to the upper blade of the stack of blades and lifts this blade. The shaft 2 then turns a quarter of a turn and brings the arm 7 between the cylinders 17-18 and 19-2.0 of the support 15.
In the passage of the arm 7 between these two stations, the auxiliary arm 11 has been gripped by the cam 103, lifted and pressed against the arm 7 to which it is fixed by the ball 96; the blade is therefore held firmly against the arm 7 and centered with respect to this arm by the projections 92 and 9 3 passing through the holes of the blade to engage in the housings 90 and 91 , while the spring 101 presses on the blade.
With the arm 7 being between the cylinders of the support 15, the cam acts to give the shaft 2 a reciprocating motion which presses the blade against the cylinders 17-18 to sharpen the upper bevels, then, against, the cylinders 19-20 to sharpen the lower bevels;
'the shaft then returns to the middle position and turns a quarter of a turn to bring the arm 7 between the cylinders of the support 16 where the same process is repeated to finish the sharpening. The shaft turns another quarter of a turn and brings the arm 7 to the last operating station in which the blade is detached from the arm 7; while rising, the arm passes between: the branches of the oven 41;
at this same time, the hook 42 contacts the pin 62 of the said 61, which has the effect of lowering the rod <a, against the spring 43; the fork 41 is lowered -and its downward movement combined with the upward movement of the arm 7 causes the forceful take-off of the blade and of the auxiliary arm 11; the blade can fall into a suitable container: The same process is repeated for each of the transverse arms 7 to 10, so that the throughput of the machine is four blades for each revolution of the shaft 2.
Passing over the cylinder 77 of the device intended to coat the transverse arms 7 to 10, each of these arms drives one of the radial arms 79 and turns the cylinder 77 by a quarter of a turn; by the groove wheel, belt 84 and wheel 83, the rack pinion 85 moves the latter and, therefore, lifts the M table of the blade magazine to bring the next blade to the next. nor calf of arms.
As a result, each time a blade has been removed from the stack, the latter is lifted so that a new blade is placed in position to be gripped by the next transverse arm. The chainring has the possibility of lowering somewhat under the pressure of the transverse arm thanks to the fact that the pinion 85 is idle with respect to the wheel 83 for the direction of rotation corresponding to the descent of the plate.
