Textilhilfsstoff, z.
Process for the preparation of a new sulfonic acid. It has been found that a new sulfonic acid is obtained if one uses N-benzyl -, u. - Heptadecylbenzimidazole chlorohydrate is condensed with isopropyl alcohol in the presence of a dehydrating agent and the condensation product obtained is treated with a sulfonating agent.
A suitable dehydrating agent in the present case is, in particular, sulfuric acid monohydrate.
The new sulfonic acid forms a light-colored, crystalline powder in the form of its sodium salt, which is taken up by water to form a solution with excellent detergency. The new product differs from an analog sulphonate produced without pretreatment with isopropyl alcohol in that it has increased solubility for poorly soluble organic sulphonic acids in acidic solution. It can be used as
Textile auxiliary, e.g. B. can be used as detergent. <I> Example: </I> 50 parts by weight of N-benzyl-, u-heptadecyl-benzimidazole chlorohydrate are gradually added to 100 parts by weight of sulfuric acid monohydrate at <B> 15-201 </B> and, after everything has dissolved, at <B> 0-3 "</B> 5 parts by weight of phosphorus trichloride are added within 10 minutes.
Then, while maintaining the same temperature, 11 parts by volume of isopropyl alcohol are added within 3/4 hours, whereupon im. In the course of \ / s hour the reaction mass is heated to 50-521. This temperature is maintained during 6 hours while stirring the reaction mass.
It is then cooled to 10-12 ° and sulphonated in the usual way with sulfuric acid containing 24% SO 2 until a sample of the sulphonation mass has become soluble in water.
The sulphonation mixture is then poured onto ice and the sulphonic acid filtered off is neutralized with sodium hydrogen solution. Evaporation of the neutral solution gives a light-colored, crystal-line powder which is absorbed by water to form a solution with excellent detergency.
The new product differs from an analog sulfonate produced without pretreatment with isopropyl alcohol because of the increased dissolving power for poorly soluble organic sulfonic acids in acidic solution.
