Compressed air system with separator and idle switch. Compressed air systems in which the compressor runs continuously, but the delivery only takes place intermittently, are, according to known designs, equipped with an idle switch, which allows the air to flow into the open without pressure or with low counter pressure. These idle switches are actuated in a known manner elec trically, pneumatically or hydraulically.
In order to maintain the operational safety of a compressed air system, it is important that the contamination by condensate and lubricating oil be prevented from entering the switching and consumption devices, for which purpose separators are provided. In order to serve their purpose, they must be emptied periodically.
The subject matter of the present invention is a compressed air system with a separator and idle switch, in which the separator is actively emptied by the idle switch itself. In Fig. I and II, the drawing, an embodiment of the subject invention is shown schematically in the two operating positions.
The idle switch 1 actuates the idle valve 3 through a rod 2, which closes the liquid chamber 4 of the separator from the outside air. 5 denotes the pressure line coming from the compressor and 6 is the check valve in line 7, which leads to the storage container and the consumer points. 8 is a lock chamber placed on the valve, which rests with its upper edge on the valve 3 by its own weight or by spring pressure.
The mode of operation of the system is as follows: As long as the idle switch 1 keeps the valve 3 closed, i.e. as long as the compressor is effectively delivering, the air passes through the line 5 into the chamber 4 > 01 and condensation water precipitate on the walls and collect due to gravity in the lower part of the chamber 4, while the air is supplied to its intended use via the non-return valve 6 through the line i.
As soon as the pressure set in the idle switch is reached, the position according to FIG. II results, that is, the valve 3 is raised and the air escapes in the direction of the arrows through the out in 9, whereby through the in Flow of the lock chamber 8, the substances collected at the lowest point of the chamber 4 are first ejected. The channel 9 he allows the arrangement of the valve 3 above half of the liquid level in the chamber 4, whereby disturbances from frost, etc. are avoided ver. The chamber 8 can also be rigidly connected to the valve.
The flexible connection has the advantage of enabling the valve to close even if the collecting space of the chamber 4 should be clogged by solid bodies or the formation of ice. The idle switch can be connected to the separator to form a unit.
