Additional patent to main patent no. 204849. Process for the production of a stilbenazo dye containing copper complexes. The present patent relates to a process for the production of a copper complex-containing stilbene azo dye, characterized in that 4-nitro-4'-aminostilbene-2.2'-disulfonic acid is benzoylated and then reduced,
the 4-amino-4'-benzoyl-aminostilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid formed is dianotized and coupled with 1-amino-2-ethoxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid, the aminoazo dye obtained is further diazotized and with 2- (3'-carboxy - phenylamino) - 5-oxynaphthalene - 7-sulfonic acid couples and converts the disazo dye formed into the corresponding copper complex compound.
The dye thus obtained is a dark powder which dissolves in water with a blue-green color and in concentrated sulfuric acid with a green color and dyes the vegetable fiber in green-gray shades of good lightfastness. Example: 336 parts of 4-nitro-4'-aminostilbene-2.2'-disulfonic acid are dissolved in about 4000 parts of water, the solution is rendered neutral and treated with a concentrated aqueous solution of 200 parts of soda offset. 180 parts of benzoyl chloride are then allowed to flow in at 1.5-2.degree. C. over the course of one hour, while stirring.
When the acylation has ended, the 4-nitro-4'-benzoylaminostilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid formed is salted out, separated off, purified and reduced in the usual way with iron and acetic acid. The 4 amino-4'-benzoylaminostilbene-2.2'-disulphonic acid obtained is dianotized and combined with 267 parts of 1-amino-2-ethoxynaphthalene-7-sulphonic acid in an alkaline soda solution.
The aminoazo dye formed is separated off, diazotized and combined with 390 parts of 2- (3'-carboxy-phenylamino) -5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid sodium in a solution containing about 10 percent by volume of pyridine.
After coupling is complete, the disazo dye formed is separated off, purified and converted into the corresponding copper complex compound by boiling for 7-8 hours with 300 parts of crystallized copper sulfate in aqueous solution in the presence of sodium acetate, which is separated off and dried .
