Waterproof winding watch. The object of the invention is a waterproof winding watch of the kind in which the crown, normally fixed on the pendant or the part of the corresponding caseband, can be separated therefrom in order then to couple, by an axial movement, with the stem. winder. The latter generally wears the male part, while the inside of the crown contains the part; female of, the coupling which comes into operation during said separation.
In watches of this kind, it is difficult to reduce the height of the crown as much as is desirable from the aesthetic point of view, in particular in small parts, without compromising the waterproof qualities of the pendant and above all without To reduce too much the length of the adjustment and the conditions of mechanical support of the crown in its various critical winding and above all time-setting positions.
The object of the invention is to make it possible to reduce, as desired, the height of the crown, respectively that of the device ensuring the seal while increasing its safety from a mechanical point of view to achieve results that are impossible to achieve by means of devices known to date.
The waterproof winding watch according to the invention is characterized in that there is located between the coupling part integral with the crown and the support barrel of the case at least one tubular part following only partially the crown. in its axial race.
The drawing represents, by way of examples, some embodiments of the waterproof winding watch according to the present invention.
Figs. 1, 2 and 3 relate to the first. These are sections through the axis of the winding stem which represent the crown in different positions: screwed, in the winding position, respectively in setting the time.
Fig. 4 is a second embodiment of the winder in a position corresponding to that of FIG. 1. Figs. : ï, F, and 7 are similar sections of a third embodiment in the same positions as in FIGS. l., 2 and 3.
The fi g. 8, 9 -and 10 are similar cross sections of a fourth embodiment. Figs. 11, 12 and 13 relate to. a fifth form which is shown in the same way and in the same respective positions as in the previous figures.
Figs. 14, 15 and 16 show sections, also through the axis of the winding stem of a sixth embodiment shown in the different useful positions that can be taken by the crown and the parts which are integral with it.
In the example of fig. 1,? and 3, a denotes the crown, b the support barrel which is screwed into the. wall of the box with the interposition of a sealing washer V. A package e is provided to complete the seal. There, <B> P </B> here. coupling of the crown carries the, female part d, or a square hole made in the bottom of a sleeve e, having at its top a part f, of larger diameter, which bears the screw thread for its fixing in the crown ca.
The winding stem g has a nut at. recovery h including the. the exact position on this rod can be fixed by the lock nut i. which acts by means of a washer k, guided axially by a nose k 'in a groove yl of the winding stem. The head of the nut h has a square h1 which constitutes the male part of the cooperating crown-winding stem coupling. with part d.
This coupling is patented in Switzerland under the n ° 190466. This square hl is surmounted by a collar 1a \ which is large enough to abut the edges of the square hole forming the female part of the coupling to axially limit the grip length of the last. So by pulling on the. crown after having coupled, one also actuates the stem of winding.
The inner tubular part p before a flange p1 is in this case adjusted freely on the coupling part to which it is axially linked by means of a coil spring 7n. which acts on the rim p1 and applies it against the piece of acconpleinent, said res comes out bearing, on the other hand, against the pierced washer 1 retained by the locknut i.
washer which is made integral with the outer tubular part o at least axially, by serti.ssa, ge. The tubular part p is adjusted to be able to move in the tubular part o sliding itself in the support barrel. The same result is obtained by removing the rim 1a 'of the tubular part p and by driving, for example, the simple barrel thus obtained on the coupling part.
The outer tubular part o and its drilled bottom 1 could become one by performing it by turning or stamping.
This waterproof winder operates as follows: In the position of fig. 1. the. crown is locked by screwing on the support barrel. The seal is perfect.
If you want to wind the watch, you unscrew the crown and, at the moment when it comes off the support barrel b. the spring 'in acting on the: inner tubular part pushes through it the female part of the coupling upwards to make it enter the square 1a1 of the nut 1i. until the collar h is resting in the bottom of the coupling sleeve. At this time, the parts have. the position shown in fig. 2. We can go back. watch.
The winding stem is well supported and the water resistance is well maintained.
When you go from the winding position to the time-setting position shown in fig. 3, we pull on the neck. The coupling part, integral with the crown, then acts by its bottom on the collar h 'of the nut h and drives the. winding stem which in turn controls the time-setting mechanism and at the same time the tubular part o by its bottom l by means of the lock nut i.
The axial path of the tubular part is therefore equal here to the path necessary for the. winding stem to switch from the winding position to that for setting the time; since the. The axial position of this tubular part has not elianged by passing the crown from its sealing position to that of winding, it follows that this tubular part follows the crown only partially in its axial travel. Here too, the delicate parts of the device are very well supported mechanically and the seal has not suffered.
In the form of execution. of fig. 4, on. finds all the parts of the previous construction with the exception of the inner tubular part p and the washer Z. The first came in one piece with the sleeve e which is here also driven into a nut <B> f </B> which corresponds to the part with the largest diameter f, from the example above. The ron delle Z being removed, it is the rim of the nut i which has a diameter sufficient to drag the tubular part o, adjusted for friction in the support barrel,
from the winding position to that for setting the time. This drive is done here as in the previous embodiment, that is to say through the collet h2 which abuts on the upper part of the square hole of the crown coupling part and allows to drive the winding stem and the parts: integral with it during traction on the crown.
In the case of fig. 4, the locknut being housed with axial play in a groove made at the end of the tubular part o, i! It should be noted that the crown will travel, in this axial limit switch, a path equal to the aforementioned clearance before driving the tubular part by means of the winding stem, respectively of the locknut. Here again, therefore, the axial path of the tubular part is only part of that of the crown.
In the waterproof winder of fig. 5, 6 and 7, the crown a is normally screwed onto the support barrel b, with the intercalation of a package, of etaneity c. This screwing could be replaced by a net bayon coupling. The female part d of the coupling is manufactured with the socket e.
The overlapping nut h, as well as the lock nut <I> i, </I> the intermediate part <I> 7c, </I> the outer tubular part with its, washer l and the spring m are identical to the similar elements described opposite. of fig. 1, 2 -and 3. The spring n4 in the position shown in fig. 5, is bandaged and pushes the entire crown against the top, this by means of a second ron delle n, secured or not to the socket e.
The support barrel b here also contains an outer tubular part o inside which slides an inner tubular part p, different from that described in the first example described: its opening does not have the same diameter everywhere.
It -is narrower at the top than at the bottom to obtain a shoulder q. When unscrewing under the influence of the spring m, the sleeve e is pushed upwards, the washer n comes, at the end of a certain angle traversed by the crown, against this shoulder to drive the inner tubular part p in its axial race.
The relative position of the parts in the crown winding posi tion, shown in fig. 6, was obtained -continuing from <B> d </B> evu; <B> '* </B> squeeze the crown until it leaves the support barrel and allows the spring m to bring about the coupling of the crown and the winding stem.
At this time, we have a perfectly supported crown and a relative tightness much stronger than anything we have known so far.
In the time-setting position, shown in fig. 7, the inner tubular part has followed the stroke of the crown which has driven at the same time, as already described for the example of FIG. 3, by means of the winding stem g, respectively the nut i, the outer tubular part o, by acting on its bottom Z.
In this case again, the crown is very well supported. The drive of the inner tu bular part p being deferred relative to the beginning of the unscrewing @de the crown and the outer tubular part o following the crown only in its axial path going from its position, from winding to that of setting. the hour, these two tubular parts therefore only partially follow the crown in <B> s </B> a axial stroke = In.
the example shown in fi * 8, 9 and 10, where parts similar to those of the preceding figures are designated by the same letters, the conditions of sealing and support of the winding stem are ensured in the same way, but the driving of the outer tubular part, in which the inner tubular part is telescopically adjusted, takes place in another way.
The spring m is supported at its bottom directly on the rim of the lock nut i and at its top against a rim r ', narrowing the opening of an inner tubular part r, freely adjusted on the sleeve e and sliding in one: outer tubular part, s.
The latter, which can slide frictionally in the support barrel b has, like the part p of the previous example, different internal diameters; the shoulder s' thus formed cooperates with undit, similarly provided on the outside of the inner tubular part r to make it follow under the action of the spring will go first, then under that of the crown, the axial movement of the latter to its time-setting position.
There is therefore here also a telescopic interlocking of tubular parts in the support barrel, the whole procuring an additional mechanical security and sealing ino: btenables in small parts with the means known hitherto.
By comparing Figs. 8 and 9, it can be seen that the outer tubular part s begins to. follow the crown just a little before it arrives in its winding position; , its path, in this case, is equal to the. difference of that of the crown, of its screwed position to that of winding., and of the gap existing between the shoulders of the two tubular parts, in fig. 8.
Fig. 1.0 shows us that the inner tubular part a. con tinued to drive the outer tubular part which, as can be seen, has a smaller axial travel than that of the crown.
The rim r 'could be omitted from the inner tubular part, which would simplify the manufacture of the latter which would then have to be coupled to the sleeve e, at least axially, or be blocked thereon, by driving, for example.
In the embodiment of fi * 11, 1? and <B> 1.3. </B> the above conditions are obtained by still simpler means. There is only one tubular part 8. It is adjusted with greasy friction in the support barrel b where it moves, driven as it is by its internal shoulder s', after partial unscrewing of the crown, by the washer n which is secured axially with the, sleeve e by the spring b which takes, on the other hand,
bearing in a bucket <I> t </I> called a locknut <I> i. </I> The operation of this sealed winder is identical to those previously described and here also the axial drive of the part tubular, in which the coupling part moves, being deferred relative to the timing of the release of the crown, this tubular part therefore follows the crown only along part of its axial travel.
In the embodiment (fig. 1.4, 1.5 and 16. the cup t, of the nut i. Has an outer rim t 'which cooperates with an inner rim W of the tubular part -as. The latter is adjusted to the friction on the sleeve that the crown also includes here.
When the crown is unscrewed, this tubular part is driven rotatably and axially. At the end of unscrewing however, when the res out G comes into operation by acting on the bottom of the socket e to couple it with the head of the overlapping nut h, the flanges t1 and ïë meet and the peak - this tubular u is immobilized during the rest of the course of the crown.
The tubular part u then follows the crown in its movement to bring it to the time-setting position, because it is no longer retained by the locknut which, from the winding position (the crown, is integral with the latter pair, the intermediary of the winding stem. In this embodiment, the crown is also always well guided and the tubular part u follows the latter only along part of its Total axial stroke An outer rim x is provided to the tubular part to limit its return stroke.
In all the embodiments cited, the screwing of the crown, could be replaced by a bayonet coupling.
