Description
Process for the production of a valuable high capillary active substance. According to the main patent, 2,3-oxido-propane-l-sulphonic acid formed as an intermediate with potassium stearate can be used to produce a valuable, highly capillary-active substance by reacting 3-chloro-2-oxypropane-l-sulphonic acid Sodium reacted with the stearine released at the same time into an end product useful in the processing of textiles.
According to the present process, instead of the galium stearate, an alkali salt of the fatty acid mixture on which the palm kernel oil fatty acid is based is used.
The end product is characterized by excellent wetting, washing, cleaning, emulsifying and dispersing properties and by resistance to acids, Epsom salts and lime.
According to an exemplary embodiment of the process, 10 parts of finely powdered dry potassium salt or the corresponding amount of another alkali salt of falmerry oil fatty acids are mixed well with 8 parts of anhydrous 3-chloro-2-oxy-propane-1-sulphate and so long to 135-145 ' C heated; until a sample dissolved in water remains clear after the addition of dilute hydrochloric acid.
In the reaction of 3-chloro-2-oxy-propane-1-sulphonic acid sodium with the alkali salt of palm kernel oil fatty acids, intermediate 2,3-oxido-propylene-l-sulphonic acid sodium is formed, which with the palm that forms at the same time in the reaction mixture .core oil fatty acids is converted. The compound is a colorless powder which, in addition to the properties mentioned at the beginning, is characterized by excellent foaming power.
