Process for the preparation of an aminoarylsulfone. The subject of the present additional patent is a process for the preparation of an aminoarylsulfone, characterized in that 4-chlorophenyl-1-hexadecylsulfone is mixed with dimethylamine and the resulting 4-dimethylaminophenyl - 1 - hexadeoylsulion with diethyl sulfate implements.
The new compound, the ethyl sulfate of the 4 - Dimethylethylammoniumphenyl-l-hexadecylsulfons, a brown mass which is clearly soluble in water, is suitable as a wetting agent, emergency protection agent, stripping agent for naphthol AS staining and has bactericidal and fungicidal properties.
Example: a) Preparation of 4-chlorophenyl-1-hexadecyl sulfide: 16.8 parts (1ho mol.) Potassium hydroxide are dissolved in 220 parts of alcohol. This solution is made with 43.2 parts of p-chlorotbiophenol

(/ io mol.) added and gently warmed until completely dissolved.
91.5 parts of cetyl bromide (1/10 mol.) Are then added to the warm solution, a vigorous reaction immediately taking place with the separation of potassium bromide. After a few minutes, the reaction has ended and the solution reacts neutrally. It is cooled and mixed with water. The mixture is extracted with ether, the ether washed with dilute lye, dried and distilled off. The residue was distilled in vacuo. Kp .: 220--240 0 1.0 mm / Hg (yellowish 01 that soon solidifies).
b) Production of 4-chlorophenyl-1-hexadecylsulion : 74 parts

OAO Mol.) Are dissolved in a mixture of 400 parts of acetone and 100 parts of glacial acetic acid at 40 0 . It is then cooled to 30 ' and, with thorough stirring and cooling (temperature 300 to 400), potassium permanganate is added in small portions until it remains red and until no more heat develops. At the end, the mixture is stirred for a further hour at 401, poured into water and decolorized with bisulfite.
Then the ether is extracted and the ethereal extract is shaken with dilute sodium hydroxide solution, the jelly that forms is filtered off and the ether is distilled off after drying. For cleaning, the crude product can be crystallized from a mixture of 1 part gasoline (80-100 ') and 1 part petroleum ether. Mp. 66-680. This sulfone can also be obtained in a known manner by reacting p-chlorobenzenesulfitate with cetyl halide.
