Prepayment electricity meter. The main patent relates to a prepayment electricity meter, comprising a main differential placed under the control of the coin insertion mechanism and the rotating disc of the meter and controlling a switch which controls the closing and opening of the meter. consumption circuit, this main differential being controlled by a secondary differential which can communicate to it two different speeds and which is itself placed under the dependence of two gears connected to the mechanism for inserting coins and an indicator. basic tax,
the latter comprising two movable members relative to each other and which come into contact when the base charge is paved, which results in the secondary differential then controlling the main differential at high speed.
In this counter to. prepayment, the prior setting of the basic tax device to. a determined value is made by hand by an employee of the electricity service, periodically, when he passes to collect the money contained in the apparatus. This periodic manual adjustment has the drawback of being tedious and difficult to control; it also introduces the possibility of error in the entry into account of the amount owed by the subscriber - and - constitutes a source of disputes with the latter.
The present invention constitutes an extension to the device described in the main patent, and eliminates the aforementioned drawbacks and risks. It is characterized by the fact that the tax indicator is, moreover, under the control of a constant speed motor which records the basic tax, accumulated continuously and in proportion to time.
In the accompanying drawing, figs. 1, 2 and â schematically represent three embodiments of the object of the invention, given by way of non-limiting example.
The prepayment meter shown in fig. 1 corresponds, in its main points, to that of FIG. 1 of the main patent. The corresponding elements of these two devices are assigned the same numbers. A complete description of this apparatus is therefore superfluous since it suffices to refer to the main patent for the find therein. The extension to the counter described in the main patent consists of a differential train 51 and a constant speed motor 52.
The differential 51 is interposed between the base tax indicator and the gear 20, 21 itself in conjunction with the gear 8-10 through the gear 18, 19. The planetary wheel 53 is integral with the axis 22, the planetary wheel 55 is connected to the wheel 56 itself driven by the constant speed motor 52, the axis 57 integral with the satellite is connected to the drum of the units 23 of the tax indicator basic.
To facilitate understanding of the operation of the device shown in fig. 1, we will assume, as in the main patent, that the rate of the basic tax has been fixed at 12 fr. per month, that the value of each coin to be inserted is 1 fr. and that - each inserted part contributes 75% - of its value to the depreciation of the basic tax. Until the full payment of this basic tax, we can therefore obtain current for only 25% of the value of the amount paid.
The preliminary adjustment of the basic charge indicator 23, 31 is carried out manually from the outside of the housing: of the meter,. Using any suitable object, such as, for example, the end uncut with a pencil, introduced for this purpose in the funnel 30 knurled internally. The latter is coupled to the pin 22, but can slide axially, so that under the effect of a slight pressure on the funnel the toothed coupling sleeves 32 and 32 ', normally integral with one of the other, are momentarily unpaired.
By rotating the funnel 30, the sun gear 53 is also rotated, which is permanently linked with the funnel. The satellite axis 57 also follows this rotational movement which is communicated to the drum of the units 23 and to the cam disc 24. After a complete revolution, the drum of the units 23 advances the drum 31 by one digit (the tens , integral with the cam disc 28. The drum 23 is then advanced to the number 2. The basic tax indicator 23, 31 is then, like the rest of the cam discs 24. 28, in the position shown in drawing and which corresponds to the basic tax of 12 francs to be paid.
As the small toothed sleeve 32 ', integral with the toothed wheel 21 is momentarily decoupled from the sleeve 52, the totalizer 37 of the base tax already paid remains immobile during this adjustment operation.
During the month following the adjustment, the cam discs 24, 28 are driven in the direction of an increase in the tax payable; by the constant speed motor 52, via the gear 56 of the planetary wheel 55, and the satellite axis 57. The constant speed motor can be either a synchronous motor or a movement of electrically wound watchmaking, or any other device fulfilling the same purpose.
When the subscriber inserts a coin and turns the insertion lever (not shown in the drawing), the axis 3 of the insertion mechanism drags the gears 7, 9 and 8, 10. These gears have ratios such as the axis 11 of the satellite 12 performs a rotational movement corresponding to 100% of the value of the part inserted, while the planetary wheel 17 of the differential 65 performs a rotational movement corresponding to 75 of this value.
The direction of rotation of the axis 11, carrying the satellite 12, and that of the planetary wheel 17 are such that the movement of the planetary wheel 13, which results from it, corresponds to the difference between these rotations, i.e. 25%. of the value of the introduced coin. The movement of the planetary wheel '13 is then transmitted, on the one hand, through the differential 69, to the axis 6 which drives the indicator of the coins in reserve 14, in the direction of an increase in this reserve and, on the other hand, using the axis 48 to the totalizer 15, which indicates the total sum collected and intended to cover the current consumption.
Independently of this, the axis 6 is further driven by the rotor 4 of the counter which also acts on the differential 69, but in a direction opposite to that of the movement communicated by the collection mechanism.
The drive of the gears 18, 19 and 20, 21 takes place at the same time as that of the differential 65. This movement is transmitted in turn, by means of the differential 51, to the base tax indicator 23, 31 and the cam discs 24, 28, but this time in the opposite direction to the previous one. The base tax indicator and the cam discs therefore undergo a rotation tending to bring them back to the zero position. When inserting each consecutive coin, the operation is repeated in the same way, and the base charge indicator 23, 31 as also the cam discs 24, 28 move ever closer to the position. from zero.
The base tax is fully paid when, after inserting a sufficient number of coins, the base tax indicator has returned to zero and the pawl 26 has engaged in the stops of the discs with cam 24, 28. At that time, the subscriber not only amortized the basic tax of 12 fr. fixed beforehand, but in addition to the base tax accumulated continuously and proportionally to time by the motor at constant speed 52.
If, for example, by the time the pawl 26 comes to immobilize the cam discs 24, 28, half a month has passed since then. the manual initial setting of the basic tax indicator, the basic tax paid consists of 12 fr. initial tax plus 6 fr. of tax continuously accumulated during this period.
After complete depreciation of the basic charge, the insertion mechanism can no longer drive the basic tax indicator 23, 31 further back, because the cam discs 24, 28 are retained by the locking pawl? 6 . The wheels 8 and 10 therefore remain stationary, which is possible, thanks to the friction coupling mounted on the axle 3. Subsequently, when the introduction of other parts, only the wheels 7 and 9 can. rotate, dragging the axis 11 integral with the satellite 12. As the planetary wheel 17 is immobilized, the planetary wheel 13 receives a movement corresponding to 100% of the value of each piece introduced.
But if some time elapses until a new part is inserted, the constant speed motor advances the base tax indicator 23, 31 and the cam discs 24, 28 an amount corresponding to the basic tax due for this time interval. Depending on the size of the base tax thus accumulated, it will be fully or partially amortized by the insertion of a new document.
It is not absolutely necessary for the constant speed motor to communicate its motion to the cam discs 24, 28. The constant speed motor could, for example, register a base charge by moving a freely mounted stopper on a proportional basis with time. the axis of the totalizer 37 and the effect of which would replace that of the pawl 26. In this case also, the basic tax fixed in advance, increased by the basic tax possibly accumulated proportionally to time, would be amortized over time. where the stopper would immobilize the cam discs.
Fig. 2 schematically shows an embodiment in which the stop of the base tax device is driven by the constant speed motor 52. Via a friction clutch 60, the constant speed motor 52 drives a constant speed motor 52. toothed wheel 61 carrying a stop 26 which acts on the lever 24. The wheel 61 is also connected to the adjustment device 30 by the intermediary of the toothed wheel 62. The stop lever 24 is fixed to the axle 63 which also carries the wheel 64 meshing with the wheel 10. The toothed wheel 10 is integral with the sun gear 17 of the differential 65 and, in addition, associated with the wheel 8.
This wheel 8 is connected by a friction coupling 66 to the wheel 7 which carries an insertion lever 67. The wheel 7 in turn meshes with the wheel 9 fixed on the axis 68 of the differential 65. The planetary wheel 18 of the differential is connected, as in the. fig. 1, to the planetary wheel 2 of the differential 69, the other planetary wheel 1 of which is connected to the counter 4, while the satellite 5 is integral with the axis 6 of the totalizer of the sum in reserve.
The operation is in its main points the same as in fig. 1, except that here the motor at constant speed actuates the stop fixed on the wheel 61. Account is therefore taken, as in the previous case, of the base tax accumulated continuously and in proportion to time.
In the basic tax device shown in this figure, the adjusting member 30 acts on the stop 26 and serves to determine a certain basic tax beforehand. It would also be possible to connect the adjustment member 30 to the axis 63 of the stop lever 24 or, which would amount to the same thing, to the toothed wheel 8. In this case, the axis 6 of the reset indicator serve would be directly entrained, but in a negative direction, by the device 30. Before being able to use current, a certain number of coins would have to be inserted beforehand corresponding to the amount of the basic tax fixed in advance.
It is also possible to arrange the adjustment member 30 so as to make it act at will and alternately, either on the wheel 61 or on the wheel 64, using a coalissa coupling, t. Thanks to a prior adjustment on these two wheels, the obligation to insert a certain number of parts first of all before the subscriber has the possibility of consuming current is determined. The current is then supplied only for a fraction of the value of the coins subsequently inserted, and it is only after complete cancellation of the basic charge that the current is supplied for the full value of the inserted coins, either when the lever 24 has caught up with the stop 26.
Fig. 3 represents an alternative embodiment of the object of the invention. In this embodiment, the constant speed motor 52 drives the sun gear 7 (-) of a differential 71, the other sun gear 72 of which is connected to the insertion lever 67 via a gear 8, 10. The axle 78 of the differential 71 is integral with the satellite 78 and carries a stop 26 which works with the stop lever 24.
The lever 24 is integral with the planetary wheel 17 of a differential 65. The other planetary wheel! 13 of this differential 65 is connected to the insertion lever 67, by the intermediary of a gear 9, 7, while its axis 75, integral with the satellite 12, carries the planetary wheel 2 of a third differential 69 The other planetary wheel 1 of the latter is driven by the counter 4, and its satellite 5 is integral with the axis 6 of the totalizer of the sum in reserve.
As in the previous examples, the basic tax device of FIG. 3 can be set to a certain base tax value. For this, one must move one of the levers 24 or 26 by acting on an adjusting device, not shown in the figure for clarity.
In the position shown in the drawing, the stop lever 24 touches the stop 26, and in this case the base tax has therefore already been fully amortized. We can even say that it was immediately before. From this moment, the constant speed motor, which rotates continuously, rotates the sun gear 70 in the direction indicated by the arrow. The wheel 72 being. immobilized, the satellite 78 is driven in the direction of the wheel 70 and moves the stop 26 in the direction of the arrow in solid lines. The stop 26 is therefore continuously elected lever 24 at a constant speed and in proportion to the rate of the base tax.
During the introduction of a coin and rotation of the insertion lever 67, the sun gear 72 of the differential 71 as well as the sun gear 13 of the differential 65 receive a rotational movement in the direction of the arrows in line. dotted. The satellite 78 is driven in the same direction and brings back in the direction of the dotted arrow the stop 26 which therefore approaches the lever 24.
As long as the stop 26 has not caught up with the lever 24, the planetary wheel 17 remains immobile and the satellite 1.2, driven by the planetary wheel 13, transmits its movement through the differential 69, to the axis 6 of the coin reserve indicator in the positive direction represented by the dotted arrow.
If, after inserting a new coin, the. stop 26 comes into contact with the lever 24, at the time of the introduction of the next part and by the rotation of the net insertion ma 67, the lever 24 is driven in the direction of the dotted arrow by the stop 26 This movement is then transmitted to the. sun gear 17 of the differential 65, and the axle 75 communicates, to the wheel 2, an angular displacement equal to the sum of the angular displacements of the wheels pla; gear 17 and 13 of the 65 differential.
Consequently, as soon as the base tax is amortized, the planetary wheel 2 of the differential 69 is driven in a rotational movement equal to the sum of the movements of the planetary wheels 17 and 13 of the differential 65, tan say that before complete amortization , its movement corresponds to that of the planetary wheel 13 alone.
