Description
Verfahren zur Herstellung eines neuen Benetzungs-, Reinigungs-, Emulgierungs- und Dispergierungsmittels.
Wir haben gefunden, dass Stearyl #-amino- äthyltolyläther der Formel

durch Behandeln mit einem Sulfonierungsmittel in ein wertvolles Benetzungs-, Reinigungs-, Emulgierungs-und Dispergierungs- mittel umgewandelt wird.
Beispiel :
15, 1 Teile ¯-AminoÏthyltolylÏther, der aus Orthocresol erhalten werden kann, indem man zunächst Tolyloxyäthylchlorid nach einem der Herstellungs@eise des ¯-Phenoxy- äthylchlorids genau analogen Verfahren (Jour- nal American Chemical Society 1926, 48, 2745) herstellt und es durch Einwirkung von Ammoniak auf bekannte Weise in den s-Amino- äthyltolyläther, ein farbloses Öl, überführt, werden mit 28, 5 Teilen Stearinsäure auf 170-180"0 erhitzt, bis zum Aufhören der Entwicklung von Wasser.
Der so erhaltene rohe Stearylaminoäthyltolyläther ist ein hellbrauner, wachsähnlicher Festkörper, der bei ungefähr 60 C schmilzt. Er wird sulfoniert, indem man ihn in sein anderthalbfaches Gewicht Schwefelsäure-Monohydrat von 20 bis 25¯ C einr hrt.
Wenn eine Probe mit Wasser eine klare, schäumende Lösung gibt, wird das Sulfone rungsgemisch in so viel Natronlauge gegoseen, dass man ein neutrales Gemenge erhält. Die erhaltene Creme oder Paste ist gebrauchsfertig zur Verwendung als Reinigungs-oder Dispergierungsmittel. Sie kann indessen durch Trocknen in einen weissen, körnigen Festkör- per umgewandelt werden, der sich leicht zu einem feinen weissen Pulver vermahlen lässt.
Das neue Produkt ist ein wei¯er Festkörper, der sich leicht in Wasser zu schäumenden Lösungen lost, welche in Gegenwart von Chlorkalzium und Mineralsäuren beständig sind. Sie sind besonders brauchbar zum Rei nigen von Wolle oder zum Dispergieren von Ealkseifen bei dieser und andern Wasohund Reinigungsoperationen.

is converted into a valuable wetting, cleaning, emulsifying and dispersing agent by treatment with a sulfonating agent.
Example:
15.1 part ¯-AminoÏthyltolylÏther, which can be obtained from Orthocresol by first tolyloxyethyl chloride by one of the manufacturing methods of ¯-Phenoxyethylchlorids exactly analogous (Journal American Chemical Society 1926, 48, 2745) and it by the action of ammonia in the known manner in the s-amino-ethyltolylether, a colorless oil, are heated with 28.5 parts of stearic acid to 170-180 "0 until the development of water ceases.
The crude stearylaminoethyl tolyl ether obtained in this way is a light brown, wax-like solid that melts at about 60.degree. It is sulfonated by stirring it into its one and a half times its weight of sulfuric acid monohydrate at temperatures between 20 and 25 ºC.
If a sample with water gives a clear, foaming solution, the mixture of sulfones is poured into so much sodium hydroxide solution that a neutral mixture is obtained. The cream or paste obtained is ready for use as a cleaning or dispersing agent. However, it can be converted into a white, granular solid by drying, which can easily be ground to a fine white powder.
The new product is a white solid that easily dissolves in water to form foaming solutions, which are stable in the presence of calcium chloride and mineral acids. They are particularly useful for cleaning wool or for dispersing earth soaps in this and other waso and cleaning operations.
