Process for the preparation of an azo dye. According to the process described in the main patent, an azo dye which is readily soluble in organic solvents is obtained if an aminobutylbenzene mixture of bp 14 115 to 144 'is used as the diazo component, which contains o-, p- and m-amino-sec.- contains butylbenzene.
As has now also been found, an azo dye which is also readily soluble in organic solvents is obtained if an amino-sec-butylbenzene mixture, as is the case by the condensation of primary-butyl chloride with benzene at 60 ° C. in the presence of aluminum chloride, is nitrated Condensation product and reduction of the nitro group is available, diazotized, the diazo compound is coupled with aminohydroquinone dimethyl ether,
the aminoazo compound obtained is further diazotized and finally combined with p-cyclohexylphenol.
<I> Example: </I> 14.9 parts of aminobutylbenzene mixture with a boiling point of 14 115 to 144 ', as is obtained by condensation of primary butyl chloride with benzene at <B> 60' </B> C in the presence of Aluminum chloride, nitration of the condensation product and reduction of the nitro group is available, are diazotized and coupled with aminohydroquinone dimethyl ether.
For further diazotization, the 1-vlonoazo dye is stirred with 54 parts by volume of hydrochloric acid 12 B6 and hot water, ice is added and diazotized at 5 to 10 'with the corresponding amount of sodium nitrite. This diazo solution is allowed to run into an alkaline solution of about 16 to 17 parts of p-cyclohexylphenol to which one of the known emulsifying agents has preferably been added.
The addition of alkali ensures that the reaction medium always remains alkaline. The reclaimed color. Substance dissolves in organic solvents with a red-brown color.
