  Verfahren zur Herstellung eines     Imidazolderivates.       Es wurde gefunden, dass man ein neues       Imidazolderivat    erhält, wenn man     ss-Methyl-          benzimidazol    mit einem Ester des     Cetylalko-          hols    behandelt. Das neue     Imidazolderivat     verbindet sich mit Mineralsäuren zu Salzen,  z.

   B. mit Salzsäure zum     N-Cetyl-ss-methyl-          benzimidazolhydrochlorid,    das mit Wasser  stark     schäumende    Lösungen gibt und ein  ausgezeichnetes     Weichmachungsmittel    für       Viskosekunstseide    darstellt.  



       Beispiel:     52 Teile     u-Methylbenzimidazol    werden  mit     10-1    Teilen     Cetylchlorid    während etwa  8 Stunden bei<B>1600</B> gerührt. Sobald eine  Probe der Reaktionsmasse sich in angesäuer  tem Wasser klar löst, unterbricht man das  weitere Erhitzen, wobei nach dein     Eikalten       das Reaktionsprodukt als eine talgige Masse  ei-halten wird, die nötigenfalls durch Auf  nahme in Alkohol und Entfärben mit Tier  kohle völlig entfärbt werden kann.

       Example: 52 parts of u-methylbenzimidazole are stirred with 10-1 parts of cetyl chloride for about 8 hours at <B> 1600 </B>. As soon as a sample of the reaction mass dissolves clearly in acidified water, the further heating is interrupted, whereby after the egg cold the reaction product is kept as a tallowy mass, which if necessary can be completely decolorized by absorption in alcohol and decolorization with animal charcoal .

PATENTANSPRUCH: Verfahren zur Herstellung eines neuen Imidazolderivates, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man u-Metliylbenzimidazol mit einem Ester des Cetylalkohols behandelt. Das neue Imidazolderivat verbindet sich mit Mineral säuren zu Salzen, z. B. mit Salzsäure zum N- Cetyl-a- methylbenzimidazolhydrochlorid, das mit Wasser stark schäumende Lösungen gibt und ein ausgezeichnetes Weichmachungs- mittel für Viskosehunstseide darstellt. PATENT CLAIM: Process for the production of a new imidazole derivative, characterized in that u-methylbenzimidazole is treated with an ester of cetyl alcohol.
