The object of the present invention is a tilting roller door, balanced by a counterweight, comprising at least one safety device, which comprises a metal rod movable in a hollow cylinder fixed to the panel of said door; one end of said rod is connected to a lever to which is fixed the cable provided with counterweight balancing said door, the other end coming into play in the event of breakage of the aforementioned cable in a rack fitted to the frame of said door ; means being further provided making it possible to brake the panel of said door in its upward movement.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a view of a door provided with the safety device and the braking means; Fig. 2 is an enlarged view of the aforementioned positive device; Fig. 3 is a cross section of a 1st rack.
The door shown 1 has a metal rod 2, movable in a hollow cylinder 3, fixed by means of a flange 4 to the panel of said door 1. The rod 2 is provided with a base 5 which presses the. spring 6 abuts, on the other hand, against the plug 7 of cylinder 3; a bent piece 8 connects the rod 2 to. one of the ends 9 of the lever 10, the cable II supporting the counterweight being fixed to the end 12 of said lever, fixed by means of the pivot 13 and the flange 14 to the door 1.
The rack 15 fixed to the upper half of the door frame for example is provided with openings such as 16 in which the end 17 of the rod 2 comes into play, which immobilizes the door 1 in the event of the cable 11 breaking. .
The upper walls of the openings such as 16 are, relative to the horizontal plane, inclined more and more as one moves away from the top of the door in order to facilitate the entry of the rod 17 into said openings. .
The rack 15 is placed only in the upper part of the door, because the fall of the latter is only dangerous in this part.
The cable 11 is adapted, through the intermediary of the lever 10, to the door panel 1 at a point 13 located at a certain distance above the pivot axis 18, so as to reduce the stroke of the counterweight 19 of a length proportional to the distance separating the adaptation point 13 from the axis of the foot 18, which makes it possible to easily give said counterweight the necessary dimensions without having to make, in the ground from the garage, a hole to accommodate the aforementioned counterweight when the door is fully open. The cable 11, connecting the panel of the door 1 to its counterweight 19, rubs on a roller 20 placed in front of the pulley 22, so as to brake said panel in its upward movement.
In fact, when the door is opened, it is driven upwards by the counterweight 19 which, at the start of the movement, substantially balances the weight of the panel, then, as the latter rises, part of the weight of the panel. this is supported by link 21; the equilibrium is then reestablished by the fact of the friction against the roller 20, of the cable II, the pressure of which increases as the door 1 rises.
As for the safety device, its operation is as follows: As the door rises under the action of the cable 11, the lever 10 pivots by pulling, by means of the part 8, on the rod 2 which compresses the res out 6, which, in the event of said cable 11 breaking, would cause the end 17 of the rod 2 to penetrate into one of the openings of the rack 15, which would immobilize the door.
