Die auf diese Weise darstellbaren Bis-Diazoniumborfluoride sind zwar schon von Schiemann und Pillarsky (Berichte der Deutschen Chemischen Gesell schaft 62 [1929], S. 3035 ff.) erhalten wor den, doph haben sich fliese Verfasser der be kannten unvollkommenen Tetra.zotierungs- verfahren bedient und die Borfluorverbin- dungen aus den erhaltenen unreinen Tetrazo- lösungen .durch nachträglichen Zusatz von Borfluorwasserstoffsäure abgeschieden;
Process for the preparation of a tetrazo compound. In general, aromatic p- and m-diamines of the benzene series cannot be tetrazotized smoothly. In the case of p-diamines, partial decomposition occurs with foaming, m-diamines are only converted smoothly into the tetrazo compounds in the presence of a large excess of mineral acid and under special conditions.
In both cases, the solutions obtained are not directly suitable for the preparation of azo dyes.
It has now been found that pure tetrazo preparations are obtained if the tetrazotization is carried out in the presence of fluorofluoric acid.
The bis-diazonium borofluorides that can be prepared in this way have already been obtained from Schiemann and Pillarsky (Reports of the Deutsche Chemischen Gesellschaft 62 [1929], p. 3035 ff.) process operated and the borofluorocompounds separated from the impure tetrazo solutions obtained .by subsequent addition of borofluoric acid;
According to the procedures, the preparations were not pure phenylene-bis-diazonium borofluorides; the process could only be carried out on a very small scale.
It is also known from German Patent No. 281055 that aryldiazoborofluorides are formed in the diazotization of aryl monoamines in the presence of borofluorocomplex compounds. However, this process is aimed only at obtaining the stable, solid monodiazoborofluoride, while nothing is said about the invention of the present process, namely the facilitation of the tetrazotization process itself. Above all.
The information in this patent in no way means that the smooth tetrazotization of aromatic m- or p-diamines is made possible by the addition of fluorofluoric acid.
The present process therefore represents a significant technical and economic advance. The bis-diazonium borofluorides are obtained in pure form and in good yield; they are clearly soluble in water; , these solutions couple without decomposition with coupling azo components. They form important starting materials for the preparation of dyes and new intermediates.
The subject of the present patent is a process for the preparation of a tetrazo compound, which is characterized in that 1,4-diaminobenzene is tetrasotized in the presence of hydrofluoric acid.
Example: 1.1 parts of 1,4-diaminobenzene and 15 parts of sodium nitrite are dissolved in 250 parts of water. After cooling, this solution is allowed to flow into excess hydrofluoric acid at a temperature below 0.degree. The bis-diazonium borofluoride .des p-phenylenediamine separates out as a light yellow precipitate, which is filtered off with suction.
The compound obtained forms a pale yellow crystalline powder which is clearly soluble in water in the wet and dry state; this solution can be used directly to represent dyes.
