Float operated valve. The invention relates to a float-operated valve, such as a flush valve, which is characterized by a tubular valve arranged to be traversed by the liquid and having its seat mounted at one end of the valve in the valve. a removable cap.
This valve preferably comprises an auxiliary valve capable of closing off the wise passage of liquid towards the tubular valve and arranged to be kept open, normally, by a rod which can carry the removable plug.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, various embodiments of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view of a horizontal valve placed in the vicinity of the bottom of the flush tank; Fig. 2 is the longitudinal section; Fig. 3 a transverse section along the line A-A -de in FIG. 2; Fig. 4 is an elevation view of a.
vertical tap placed at the top-of. î, hunting tank; Fig. 5 is a longitudinal section of a variant of a valve with an automatic shut-off valve; Fig. 6 a corresponding exterior view, FIG. 7 a longitudinal section of a variant of the previous one, FIG. 8 a corresponding exterior view.
In fig. 1, the body. valve 1 receives at its rear a tubular part 2 forming an inlet chamber 3 which is supplied by the adduction pipe 4 to which it is connected by the nut 5.
A nut 2'a allows the blocking of the valve body on the wall of the tank R.
The chamber 3 is provided with an anterior bottom 6 constituted by a partition of the body 1, against which a seal 7 is pressed by the part 2. The seal 7 and "the partition 6: have passed through a pipe 8. , of small @ diameter and @ of small cross-section, which forms the rear part: of the valve 9.
The latter, of tubular shape, is guided by friction: soft -in the chamber 10 of the body 1. It is provided -d'un axial longitudinal channel 12 which is closed by the @ seat 13 when the valve is closed.
This seat is here constituted by a fort, say that. of rubber embedded in a stopper 14 which is screwed at the end of the body. 1.
The liquid is poured into the tank see through a tube 15 starting from the chamber 10, and which is -right and, of low length in the case of FIG. 1, slums which it is bent and of great length to descend near the bottom of the tank, in the case of FIG. 4.
The body 1 carries a screw 16 on the outside, forming an articulation axis for a lever 17. The latter has an oval hole 18 through which a lug 19 is mounted on the valve 9 and also passes through the body 1 through an opening 20.
The lever 17 is provided with a threaded cylindrical part 17a, into which is screwed the end of a rod 211 carrying the float 22, this rod being able to take two different shapes depending on whether the valve is located at the lower part (fig. . 1) or to the upper part (fig. 4), -of the tank.
In the embodiment @de fig. 4. the seat, valve and control are identical. The locking pieces on the reservoir R are transferred to the lower end of the tube 2.
It is easily seen that to visit and to see possibly replace the gasket-seat 13 of the valve, i1_ will suffice -de unscrew the cap 14 without having to remove any other member and even less the valve.
On the other hand, it appears that the shocks due to "water hammers", .if it occurs, will be received for the most part by the partition 6, and the valve will not have to suffer therefrom.
In the embodiment of FIGS. 5 and 6, we find in. the valve body 1, the movable valve 9, hollowed out with a longitudinal channel 12; and passing through a stuffing box 25 -, 26 which seals the passage of the partition 6.
The cable gland itself 25 is provided with a groove 25a in which is engaged a pin 2.7 of the valve, so that this gland can be screwed by opening the valve by means of a screwdriver engaged at 28 in two slots provided for this purpose.
The body of the valve is surrounded by a ring 29, .retained by a broken ring 30. This ring receives the. Finger 19 which, coming out of the body, passes through the th lever - control panel 1-7 articulated in 16.
The: seat 13 -of the valve is mounted in a plug 14 which is screwed into the end of the body 1. This plug here carries a long rod .of small .diameter, 31, on the end of which the tail abuts: 34 of another valve provided with a head 32 with gasket 33. The tail 34 is engaged in the channel 12 of the main valve, leaving a suitable passage for the liquid. This tail, of triangular section, for example, is hollow and threaded on the rod M.
The rear face of the partition 6 has a lip or flange 35 which constitutes the seat of this second valve. The latter is caught out of the rear, by a broken ring 36, embedded in the end -of the body 1, which receives the connector 5 for connection with the liquid adductor tube 4.
The liquid starting tube 15, is. branch on the body behind the plug 14 and communicates with the chamber 10 where the main valve 9 moves.
When the cap 14 is in place, the second valve is open, as seen in the drawing.
It is easily seen that - from the moment when, for any reason whatsoever, the plug 14, which carries the seat of the main valve, will be unscrewed, the second valve 32-33-34 will be released from the rod 31, and the pressure of the liquid acting on this valve will cause the packing 3'3 to be applied to the seat 35 thus preventing the passage of this liquid towards the channel 12 and towards the outlet tube 15. The valve will then be a real stopcock. This property of the present valve will therefore make it possible not to use the shut-off valve usually used on the supply line 4.
In the variant of FIGS. 7 and 8, the control lever 40, connected to the float, and articulated at 41 on the body 1, itself carries an er got 42 for the actuation of the tubular valve 43. This lug passing through a wide or opening 44 of the body 1, engages without play the teral in a circular groove 45 of the valve 43. Vis-à-vis, the previous valve, there is therefore removal - of the ring 29 and of the ring 30, and also removal - the risk of unscrewing the lug & control 42.
On the other hand, the auxiliary valve 46 is also simplified. This valve is guided by the bosses 46a, in the chamber 3, which avoids providing it with a tail.
In some cases, for large taps, two control levers will be provided, one on each side, or one lever. clevis, to balance the force on the main valve.
