Description
Terfahren zur Darstellung eines neuen Thlophenolderivates. Es wurde gefunden, dass man zu einem neuen Thioderivat des Phenols gelangen kann, wenn man Phenol mit Kaliumbichromat in Gegenwart von Natriumhydroxyd und Schwe fel erhitzt.
<I>Beispiel:</I> 46 Teile Phenol, 20 Teile Natriumhydro- xyd, <B>30</B> Teile Schwefel, 20 Teile Kaliumbi- ehromat und<B>50</B> Teile Wasser werden innig vermischt und<B>30</B> Stunden am Rückflusskühler auf<B>107- 108 "</B> erhitzt. Man erhält eine dunkel grün gefärbte dicke Masse, welche nach dem Erkalten sehr hart wird und leicht gepulvert werden kann.
Das so erhaltene grüne Pulver ist in Wasser und Äthylalkohol mit grüner Farbe leicht, in Aceton dagegen fast unlöslich. Auf Zusatz von verdünnter Schwefelsäure zu einer verdünnten Lösung des Produktes wird ein brauner Niederschlag erhalten; auf Zusatz von organischen Säuren werden trüb grün- graue Flocken erhalten; mit Ferrichlorid re sultiert ein bräunlichgrauer Niederschlag.
Das neue ehromhaltige Produkt besitzt stark gerbende Eigenschaften.

The green powder thus obtained is light green in water and ethyl alcohol, but almost insoluble in acetone. When dilute sulfuric acid is added to a dilute solution of the product, a brown precipitate is obtained; when organic acids are added, cloudy green-gray flakes are obtained; With ferric chloride a brownish-gray precipitate results.
The new Ehrom-containing product has strong tanning properties.
