Timepiece. The object of the present invention is a timepiece, characterized in that it comprises at least one additional hand marking the same units of time as one of the central hands which are generally used, but which starts up. only when the latter is stopped and stops as soon as said central needle is started.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the timepiece according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a view of this part showing the dial and the hands; Fig. 2 shows the movement seen from the side of the cogs, while FIG. 3 shows the other side of this movement, the ca dran having been removed to reveal the mechanism behind it.
In fig. 2 and 3, the housing and the various push buttons are only shown schematically.
In fig. 1, the usual minute hand is designated by 1, while 3 designates the seconds hand; 2 designates an additional minute hand controlled by a mechanism such that it only starts up when the other two hands are stopped and stops as soon as the latter are set in motion. The needle 1 is mounted on a shaft 4 driven by friction and which finds place in the tubular shaft of the large wheel. This axis carries a disc 5 on the periphery of which acts a brake 9 subjected to the action of a spring 6 and which is in relation with a latch 8 by the space between an arm 7. The brake 9 pivots around of an axis 7 'and carries an arm 10, the role of which will be explained below.
Under the disc 5 is fixed a heart-shaped cam 11 on which acts a hammer 12 provided at the end of the arm 1.3 of a lever pivoted at 13 'and the other of which arm 14 is in connection with a pusher 15 mounted concentrically to the. winding crown 16. The lever 13-14 is constantly maintained in the position shown in the drawing by the action of an antagonist spring 17. On the arm 13 of said lever is fixed a second arm 18 which ends in a hammer 19 acting on a heart-shaped cam 20 fixed on an axis 21 controlling the seconds hand 3. The latter is mounted on a cannon wheel idling on the axis 22 and which receives its slack vement of a wheel, invisible in the drawing, wedged on axis 21.
The axis 22 of the field wheel carries a 2,3 wheel, the periphery of which has a very fine den ture. A reference 24 is pivoted in a support 25 capable of oscillating about an axis 2.5 'and which is subjected to the action of a spring 33 tending to make it tilt to bring the return 24 into contact with the wheel 34 The support 25 comprises two arms 26 and 28, the first of which is placed on the path of an ankle 27 integral with the brake 9. The end of the arm 28 is encountered, when the needles are reset to zero, by the arm. 29 of a lever, the other arm 30 of which ends in an arcuate part 30 'in the cavity of which there is a pin 31 integral with the lever 18. A spring 32 is used to hold the lever 29, 30 in the position. shown in fig. 2.
The various members occupying the respective positions shown in the drawing, the wings 1 and 3 are stationary, the brake 9 being pressed against the periphery of the disc 5 while the return 24 is moved away from the wheel 34 wedged on the axis of the needle 3. To start the aforementioned needles, the lock is moved in the direction of arrow A. The lever 7, 9, 10 oscillates around its axis and the brake 9 leaves the disc 5. At the same time, the pin 27 releases the arm 26 so as to let the support 25 perform a rocking movement under the influence of the spring 33, so that the return 24 comes into contact with the wheel 34. The two needles 1 and 3 are then put to turn until the lock -8 is replaced in its original position.
To bring these needles to zero, we act on the pusher 15. In doing so, we cause a tilting of the lever 12, 13, 14 around its axis 13 '. A heel 14 'of the arm 14 pushes the end of the arm 10 and thus forces the brake 9 to leave the disc 5. At the same time, the hammer 12 comes into contact with the cam 11 and resets the minute hand to zero. For its part, the hammer 19 acts on the cam 20 of the seconds hand and brings the latter back to its starting point. While the brake 9 is moved away from the disc 5, the pin 27 leaves the support 25 to the action of the spring 33 which then tends to cause the return 24 to engage with the wheel 34.
But the ankle 31 of the arm 13 forces the lever 30 to perform a rocking movement, so that the end of the arm 29 meets that of said 2-8 so as to immobilize the support 25 before the return 24 is engaged with it. the wheel 34. The latter therefore remains subject to the action of the hammer 19 for resetting the seconds hand.
Between the plate and the movement is a mechanism placed under the dependence of the latch 8 and a pusher 46. This mechanism is intended to put in or out of action and to bring back to zero the additional hand 2 wedged on. a cannon wheel 35 driven by the tubular shaft of the medium wheel via a friction spring 36. The cannon wheel 35 has a notch in which the end of the arm 38 is placed. an angled lever pivoted at 39 and the other arm of which is in connection with a reset pusher 46. The latch 8 acts on a lever 41 whose arm 42 constitutes a brake applied by a spring 45 against the barrel wheel 35. The levers 38, 40 and 41, 42 are placed in relation to one another by a intermediate lever 43, the purpose of which will be seen later.
To start the additional needle 2, the lock is moved in the opposite direction to that of the arrow A. The brake 42 is then moved away from the barrel wheel 35 which begins to rotate. The said needle is stopped by moving the latch 8 in the direction of the arrow A. To reset, we act on the pusher 47. A protuberance 4 ′ of the arm 40 comes to press on the intermediate lever. 43 which raises the brake 9: 2 so as to allow the lever 3-8 secured in the notch 37 to return the wheel 35 to its original position.
The locking levers 7 and 41 are arranged so that, in the position of the latch 8 - which corresponds to the movement of needles 1 and 3, the brake 42 is applied to the barrel wheel 35 and prevents the rotation of the needle 2. On the contrary, when said lock is in the position which corresponds to the operation of the additional needle, the brake 9 is in contact with the disc 5 and the return 24 is remote from the wheel 34.
With a timepiece fitted with a device such as that which has just been described, it is possible to know directly the total duration of the interruptions occurring during a game or in the movement of a control member. my china without it being necessary to deduct the total value of the time lost by subtracting the useful time from the total time used for the control, as is necessary with an ordinary chronograph. Since the total of the time lost is always less than that of the useful time, it is not necessary for the needle 2. to complete a complete revolution.
In the embodiment described opposite the drawing, the stroke of the additional needle is only six minutes in magnitude, but it is obvious that it can be larger or smaller. It is limited by two pins 47 and 48 against which abut the edges of the notch 37 made in the barrel wheel 35. Finally, it is not absolutely necessary for this needle to occupy a central position as is the case. in the drawing. It could just as well occupy, for example, a position symmetrical with respect to that of the seconds hand.
