Improvement in lighters. Ferrocerium wheel and flint lighters have certain drawbacks: in non-automatic lighters, the wheel that is rotated directly by pressure from the finger to produce the spark often injures the finger and dirties the skin.
In addition, in lighters with a horizontal axis wheel, the wick must be in the plane of the tangent to the lower part of the wheel to receive the jet of sparks, the flame produced is poorly released and licks the wheel when raped close to the latter to obtain better ignition.
The present invention proposes to remedy these drawbacks.
According to this invention, the cover of the lighter which covers the wick and the wheel is rotatably mounted on the axis of the wheel and is connected to the latter so that the wheel is rotated by a rotation of said cover. around the axis of the wheel, the rotation being facilitated by the fact that the axis of the wheel is cantilevered with respect to the axis of the stone to obtain an ascending jet of sparks di rigé obliquely towards the wick.
For this purpose, this cover can be wedged on the wheel, but free to rotate on the axis of the latter, and it can be provided externally with a groove, a bulge, ridges or any other means allowing with the finger to drag it without slipping so as to rotate the dial and produce the ignition sparks.
In addition, the vertical axis of the stone holder tube is offset with respect to the axis of the wheel, so as to incline the jet of the sparks produced upwards, which makes it possible to raise the wick of the lighter and to release it. above the knob while allowing it to be located very close to the spark source.
In the accompanying drawing are shown, by way of example, two embodiments of the object of the invention. In this drawing: Fig. 1 is a longitudinal sectional view of the lighter; Peak. 2 is a side view, the neck open; Fig. 3 is a cross section through A -B of FIG. 1; Fig. 4 is an alternative embodiment of the cover.
As seen in Figs. 1 and 3, the lid 1 of the lighter is wedged on the mo lette 2 using a transverse pin 3 and can rotate freely around the axis 4 which itself pivots in the support bearings 5 integral with the tube stone holder 6 fixed to the body 7 of the lighter. Stone 8 being pressed to. the ordinary way against the wheel by the spring 9, the sudden opening of the cover 1, driven by a pressure of the finger exerted on the rounding 10 'of a bulge 10, produces a jet of sparks 11 which ignites the wick 12 of the lighter.
Care has been taken, as can be seen in the drawing, to offset the axis of the stone holder tube 6 with respect to the axis of the wheel 2; thanks to this offset, the jet of sparkle those 11 is directed from bottom to top and reaches the wick 12 of the lighter, although the latter has been raised, to be able to be cleared above the wheel 2.
In the variant of fig. 4, the smooth bulge 10 of the cover is replaced by a ridged bulge 13 intended to prevent the finger from sliding in an effort to open the cover.
Of course, the improvement which is the subject of the present invention is absolutely independent of the actual shape and of the general arrangement of the lighter which can, moreover, be of any known type, so that the object can be adapted to it. of the invention.
