Wheel lighter. In handwheel pocket lighters, in which a lever subjected to the action of a spring rises sharply when released, it is necessary to safely prevent the ignition device from operating. in the pocket. of clothes and burns or ignites them. In the present invention, there is a lighter having greater safety, while being of a simpler construction and easier to handle. Another advantage of this new lighter lies in the fact that all worn parts can be replaced easily.
This lighter has a lever carrying a snuffer and which is subjected to the action of a res out, said lever being placed on the r ^ @ ps of the lighter and rising sharply when released from the action of a rusting worm device. It is characterized in that the lever is locked in its armed position by means of two pins, one of which is placed in a support which can turn on the vertical axis, the head of this pin being in engagement with the second pin. pillar placed on the lever.
The drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of a lighter according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a vertical section of the bri quet in the armed position; Fig. 2 is a side view of the bri quet; Fig. 3 is a plan view corresponding to FIG. 1; Fig. 4 is a plan view of the disarmed lighter; Fig. 5 is a section through 5-5 of FIG. l; Fig. 6 represents a turntable.
The receptacle 1 comprising the cover 2 and the bottom 3 is filled with a fibrous mass soaked in fuel supplying the wick 4. On the cover 2 is a lever 5 carrying a snuffer 56 and a support 6 holding the lever in his armed position. The lever 5 is tubular in shape and forked at one of its ends to make room for the wheel. It is pivoted with this wheel on a pivot 8 held by the lugs 9. A spring 25 placed in a tube 19 presses the flint 26 against the wheel 7.
In the fork of the lever 5 is a spring 18 causing the elevation -du lever when the latter is released. This spring is supported on the one hand against the lever and on the other hand against the base 10, of the two ears 9, which is placed in an opening of the cover 2.
The free tubular end of the lever 5 holds a gasket 30 serving as a housing for a stop pin whose end passing the lever is rounded. Between an annular shoulder 32 of the pin 31 and a part 33 located in the hollow lever 5 is a spring 34 which pushes the pin forward (Fig. 1).
The support 6 is fixed by a base 35 with a rough edge protruding slightly from the receptacle 1 on the cover 2, ide so that it can be rotated about its axis. The upper part of the support 6 has at 37 a recess intended to receive the head 3.8 of a pin 39 located in an axial hole of the support and provided with a threaded part 42 screwed into a journal 41. In addition, the upper portion of the flanged journal is clamped in a hole 40 in the base of the support.
The pivot 41 can turn in a barrel 43 located in a hole in the cover 2 and the annular flange 44 of which is placed in an opening 45 of the base of the support and a corresponding milling of the cover 2. The support 6 rotates with the pin 39 and the journal 41, since these parts are connected to each other, and is secured on the support against any axial movement by a plate 46 (fig. 6), which has a notch 47 which is engaged with the base 10 of the ears 9. The other end of the plate also has a notch 48 in engagement with a circular groove 36 of the base 35 of the support.
The opening 49 of the plate 46 is used for placing. the wick holder 51 which is screwed onto the container and whose annular flange 52 rests on the plate and secures it in this position.
A spring 54 is located in a cutter 53 (fig. 5) under the plate 46. By one end it rests against the wall of the countersink and by the other, in a orifice 55 of the plate. base, of the support, so as to keep the latter in its normal position and, when using the lighter, always bring it back to its position. Under the head @ 38 of the journal 39 is located in the support 6 an opening 57 intended to receive the stop pin 31 of the arm 5.
In the head; of the pin 38 there is also an opening 58 placed in such a way that the head of the pin only partially covers the opening 57 made in the support 6 and intended to receive the stop pin 3.1. . In the armed position of the lighter (fig. 1 and .3), the stop pin 31 is held by the pin head 38 against which it rests not far from the opening 58.
If to use the lighter, we take it in the hand, and with a finger, we set in motion the circular base 35 of the support @ 6, the latter will rotate around its vertical axis. By turning said support, the opening 58 of the pin head .3.8 is placed over the end of the stop pin 31, so that the arm is free to rise and it is formed a shower of sparks.
Once this operation is completed, the support 6 is released and, under the action of the return spring 54, it returns to its idle position (fig. 1 and 3), so that by lowering the lever 5 again. , the stop pin 31 slides over the rounded head 38 so as to re-enter the opening 57 and thus ensure the lever.
In the example described of the support 6, one can use a pivot 39 provided with a head 38 made of a very hard material, almost indestructible and which can be easily replaced if, after a very long use, signs of wear appear. The same is true of pin 31, so that this lighter represents an object of very long duration.
