Monoformyl-1,
3-phe- nylendiamin isoliert.
Process for the production of a new intermediate product in the tar color industry. It was found that a new ZR # ischenproduct, the tertiary condensation product of one mole of cyanuric chloride with one mole of 1,3-phenylenediamine-4-sulfonic acid and two moles of monoformyl-1,3-phenylenediamine, is obtained,
if one mole of 1,3-phenylenediamine-4-sulfonic acid and two moles of monoformyl-1,3-phenylenediamine are allowed to act on one mole of cyanuric chloride in any order.
This condensation is carried out by stirring the components together in a suitable diluent, and it has been found that water as such is surprisingly very suitable. The tertiary condensation product of one mole of cyanuric chloride with one mole of 1,3-phenylenediamine-4-sulfonic acid and two moles of monoformyl-1,3-phenylenediamine forms, as an alkali metal salt, an almost colorless powder which is soluble in water.
It no longer contains a reactive chlorine atom and is a valuable starting material for the production of dyes. Example: A finely divided suspension of 18.5 parts of cyanuric chloride in 1000 parts "\, # Tasser is after and a solution of 21 parts of 1,3-phenylenediamine-4-sulphonic acid sodium is added at 0 with stirring, the reaction being kept acidic by adding soda solution (totaling 5.3 parts).
The so. The clear solution obtained is mixed with 13.6 parts of monoformyl-1,3-phenylenediamine. The mixture is stirred at room temperature until the monoformyl-1,3-phenylenediamine has disappeared by further neutralizing the hydrochloric acid formed with soda.
A further 13.6 parts of monoformyl-1,3-phenylenediamine are then added to the solution obtained in this way and the mixture is boiled on the reflux condenser for about an hour. The tertiary condensation product of 1 mole of cyanuric chloride, 1 mole of 1,3-phenylenediamine-4-sulfonic acid and 2 moles of monoformyl-1, is then obtained by salting out and filtering.
3-phenylenediamine isolated.
