Abstract
L'invention concerne des procédés et des systèmes de conversion électrochimique de dioxyde de carbone en des produits organiques comprenant du formate et de l'acide formique. Un procédé peut comprendre, mais n'est pas limité à, les étapes (A) à (C). L'étape (A) peut introduire un anolyte acide dans un premier compartiment d'une cellule électrochimique. Le premier compartiment peut comprendre une anode. L'étape (B) peut introduire un catholyte à base de bicarbonate saturé de dioxyde de carbone dans un second compartiment de la cellule électrochimique. Le second compartiment peut comprendre une cathode à surface élevée comprenant de l'indium et ayant un volume de vide entre environ 30 % et 98 %. Au moins une partie du catholyte à base de bicarbonate est recyclée. L'étape (C) peut appliquer un potentiel électrique entre l'anode et la cathode suffisant pour réduire le dioxyde de carbone en au moins un produit à base d'un seul carbone ou un produit à base de carbones multiples.
